Tutorial: Flashing Your CDMA Handset After MEID/ESN Registration
KanagaDeepan replied to Sadikk's topic in Tutorial and Guides
Great work Sadikk ji... +1 to you... -
AIO-Root (All In One Root) is the simplest root method I found on net (another one is doing the same process manually without using script/batch file) and I have tried this on my friend's Photon after reading all the 20+ pages (now 30) of user comments on the XDA and ACS forum... Mine was already rooted when I bought and so if there are any few questions, I can answer from what I remember, but can't try it now... Source is also given below with video demo explaining the process... All the credits goes to the original contributors (who are soo selfish-less [edgan and shabbypenguin] that they allowed to use this in any-form even without giving any credit to them) and I am just posting (after testing) in our forum and hence I think, I DON'T deserve any +1 for this post... Please try and reply here if there are some issues and I may help you (not by testing this time)... Step by Step process:- 0) Download and extract the zip file Photon-4G-OCR-2.0.zip to say "C:\Root" or any folder you like... 1) First install the req drivers on your PC either 32-bit 32bit driver.zip or 64-bit 64bit driver.zip 2) Restart your PC (This step if avoided has bought issues for few [NOT all] as I read from XDA posts) 3) Set "USB debugging" to ON Home-->Settings-->Applications-->Development-->USB debugging (Keep the check-box checked) 4) Connect Photon to PC using the microUSB original cable came with box and select "CHARGING ONLY" on phone-notification 5) Now run (double-click) the batch file "root.bat" from the "C:\Root" or the extracted folder in step-0 Screen will change colours after every step was executed, don't panic... All will be fine... Follow the on-screen instructions and your photon may restart twice (as per the process) and finally will be rooted... Upgrade the super-user by ChainsDD from AM (NOT a must) Please reply if any doubts, I will help... Source 1:- Click HERE ACS Forum Source 2:- Click HERE XDA Video Demonstration :- Click

MTS Revises Its EVDO Data Plans For Mobile Customers in Kolkata & West Bengal
KanagaDeepan replied to avishekghosh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
MTS should launch this scheme in all those circles, where they want to retain their license... -
^^^^ There is no harm in rooting your Photon... Link to the thread in Rimweb for rooting MoPho is here... @raju_a don't do full discharge/recharge cycles for MoPho battery... It is ok for batteries with memory problem like Ni-Cd and Ni-MH... But in case of Li+ or Li-Polymer, it will do more harm than good...

Update: TATA Photon Max (EVDO Rev B) Extends Coverage, Available in 16 Cities Now
KanagaDeepan replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^^^ DORB is new, if not non-existent even in CDMA loving countries like US, Canada... So we may NOT get foreign handsets and unlocked modems supporting DORB just like DORA now... We have no much choice than going to the evil tentacles of the operators, imho... -
Update: TATA Photon Max (EVDO Rev B) Extends Coverage, Available in 16 Cities Now
KanagaDeepan replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
offtopic:- Even though RCom and (especially) Tata may NOT be interested in CDMA 2G spectrum auction, they may bid to increase the price atleast... So auction may NOT be a smooth ride for MTS, imho... OnTopic:- Unless Tata reduce the data tariff (very unlikely, imho), there will be very very few takers for their DORB service... -

Huawei U5510 - 3G Dual Sim, Wifi Hotspot, Video Calling Feature Phone
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other handsets
Short Review:- Plus:- 1) Video-Call and HSDPA works great... 2) WiFi and WiFi-Hotspot works simply superb... 3) Tethered WiFi is Infra mode and NOT AdHoc (so u can connect non-rooted Android device to it too) 4) Battery life is very-good... 5) Came with FREE 4GB microSD card (Internal memory 44MB)... 6) Standard microUSB charging and data transfer (Mass storage mode for both internal and external memory) 7) Supports Java and comes with Opera Mini... 8) Very cheap for all the above things (got it for Rs4650 incl shipping) Minus:- 1) Glossy finish front & back (finger-print magnet) 2) Non-AF Main Camera... 3) Has the UI of cheap Chinese phones (Or Huwaei'e UI is actually used/copied by cheap chinese phones) But I can say the three minuses can be easily forgiven for the price it is selling... -
Experienced the same issue in Videocon and heard about from few Uninor and BSNL customers too... So most probably NOT a handset issue, imho...

Few of Motorola Photon's earlier firmware brings WiFi error when using it as GSM phone... Even after applying SBF 198_6 for my Photon, I got the same WiFi error and I got the solution from XDA, which I want to share here... Just download the attached tiny apk file and install it... WiFi will work without any issue in GSM... Download reqd apk file and full details here... Though most friends here, use Photon on CDMA and many on latest version without that issue, please keep a copy of this tiny file and may help sometime... Thanks... GSM Mobile Operators Not Happy With CDMA EVDO High Speed Internet Service
KanagaDeepan replied to M.S.Rao's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^^^ There are few big differences... 1. BSNL paid huge amount to become a PAN INDIA 3G operator... Now cartel getting that benefit with almost quarter of that amount... 2. Even though EV-DO is 3G of CDMA, it is NOT auctioned to a ridiculously huge amount like 3GSM... Vodafone's Netcruise is equal to T24 service on TataGSM network and NOT cartel's 3G backdoor entering lust... -

Tackle The WiFi Error on GSM Mode of Motorola Photon 4G
KanagaDeepan replied to KanagaDeepan's topic in Motorola
Kumaar sir, still NO solution for USSD even using 198_7 leaked SBF (as heard in xda)... Further in 154_6 I didn't get any USSD-Balance-telling-message after call completion in my BSNL prepaid number... But after 198_6, I am getting one network message with <?> in subject and ok button.. May be my Photon is trying to tell my balance after every call??? Further anyone getting balance-info (readable) after every outgoing call completion? or just the <?> and OK button??? -
Huawei U5510 - 3G Dual Sim, Wifi Hotspot, Video Calling Feature Phone
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other handsets
I have ordered the phone and it was despatched 2 days back... I will surely post a review, after using it for some days... -
My Photon once has 250+ apps (after filtering/selecting from 500 apps) and there was only slight decrease in performance comparing now (130 apps) and I hope recent upgraded firmware (198_6 from 154_6) may have more effect than the number of apps, imho... All you need to do is install only apps after thoroughly checking the user comments/star-rating/+1/permissions from AM.. Further you can track the unnecessary apps running in background via GoLaouncher's TaskManager and uninstall it, if it seems like a culprit... For example, I experienced very laggy performance in my Photon (with 125+ other apps), when I have Amazon-app_store installed (all for that silly 1 paid app FREE everyday offer using fake cc no, etc,,,).. It always runs in BG to check the usage.. After uninstalling that (and its associated FREE paid sw), my Photon was back to the form... So keep track on bg-running sw and don't use task-killer (it will again and again kill the task which re-appears again and again -- so kills CPU and battery)... Identify the rogue app and just uninstall it...

Please suggest entry level Android handset for GSM or CDMA (MTS)
KanagaDeepan replied to Venkatagiri's topic in Handset Suggestions
Sorry, I can't fully agree with this part... For example, they can ask Huwaei or other better OEM to put cheap display and cut some more cost while re-branding... Even you can find this in reviews (esp quality of camera and displays not comparable to the OEM's original product)... So if budget is very very tight, then only go for Spice/Micromax... -
For EPIC, correct once a three month... For MoPho, its thrice a month from my experience...
