Reliance GSM 3G Internet On Mobile 6 GB For Rs.99/-
KanagaDeepan replied to ::: VA :::'s topic in Miscellaneous
^^^^^ Capping at 128kbps is ok only if the user is using 2g pack on 3g... The user may someday come to 3G... But capping at 64kbps means way tooo greeedy.... So in circles RCom won 3G, dont use its 2G (and 3G as well) services.... I dont think it is a nice way to move their users to 3G... -
I think some dialler allows USSD in Android (pointed out by Rajan ji in Android sub-forum), but that was also NOT working in Photon...
-
Sir ji.... Does that (or any other) trick also brings the USSD and 3G video-call benefits to Photon in GSM mode???

Google Music - Use It In India Right Now
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in General Technical Discussion
Oh... Forgot to mention that I used the method explained in this link to set my ip to US one manually in TOR... And no need to set the final step (proxy in firefox) unless you always want to use US IP... -

done... Thanks and +1 to you Rajan ji... -
OK... To all friends who are looking for buying Photon, but in dilemma reg pentile matrix display, please note the following:- 1] As Karthik ji rightly said the display is NOT a deal-breaker... Resolution is better (qHD 960x540 is 16:9 and much better than WVGA 800x480, which is 15:9 ratio) for watching videos and browsing... But only purists may feel the -ve of pentile matrix... For others display will be good... 2] If we consider the remaining things, Photon wins hands-down considering the price (Dual-core processor, loads of FREE RAM, excellent battery life, beauty, kick-stand, GSM capabilities, HDMI, cam with key and flash, loud-speaker, dual microphone <<actually 3>>, build quality, voice clarity <<even my BSNL 2G sounds better in it, I don't know why??>>, huge internal memory + microSD slot, etc... But few cons are also there for people trying to use it as GSM phone (NOT for using as CDMA phone):- 1] USSD won't work.. But no issue if you use it for postpaid like me... 2] 3G video call not working or I don't know how to make one... 3] can't be used in US (IR--NOT A huge issue) right now, but may change when some chinese ROM with few other radios arrive, but chances are very very low...

If anyone want the modified "wpa_supplicant" file to force Android to use Ad-Hoc WiFi (some tethered WiFi of s60 or other devices like olive vr9), please reply here and I will provide the detail in correct thread (or here if its ok to do so)... Actually it was given to me by our Parin bhai and I thank him for the same here and to apply that patch your phone must be rooted first... Rehman ji, can you please explain that simple method to root photon on phone itself here?? Is it the SU download from AM + few commands in terminal window one??? Thanks...
-
Great review Rehman ji.... +1 to you... For the difficulty in disconnecting a call (which rarely occurs in my photon), I use the option in ACCESSIBILITY settings [Power button ends the call]... As a prev EPIC user, I was once NOT happy with the video playback capability of Photon (Rock player) as some few-hundred-MB-video-songs play nicely in epic, but struggled in Photon... Further Photon can't play sounds in videos of some files... Later I saw MX VIDEO PLAYER (FREE) in AM, which makes use of Dual-Cores and then the videos played better in Photon... It also has option to select/play audio-track of false-stereo video files and solved the audio issue as well.. Then I uninstalled all my other video layers... It is a must have for all Dual-core phone users, imho... My naughty baby sits silently and loves to watch video-songs on photon with kick-stand open.. But for me, photon's screen is a mixed bag... Though EPIC's screen is also of pentile matrix, its rarely felt comparing photon, imho.. What I am trying to say is pentile AMOLED is much better than pentile LCD... But if the user has not used AMOLED for long time earlier, then that won't make a huge difference, imho... RGB_AMOLED (SAMOLED+) >> Pentile_AMOLED === RGB_LCD >>> Pentile_LCD

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
KanagaDeepan replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Plz read carefully... It was written Rs10 per GigaBIT, so comes to Rs80/GB, but still good price for the possible speed (comes close to MBlaze999 for 12GB data) and I guess that may be applicable for high-rental plans only... Anyway much better than 3x and 3G plans of today, imho... -

I love the reasonable pricing of Galaxy-Note, as it also means S-II may most probably get a good price reduction... -
Sir ji, use Panini keyboard available in AM for FREE, available for almost all Indian languages... Our friend Sougata ji is using it for Bengali too...

I Have Ported My Number To....
KanagaDeepan replied to dkaile's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
^^^^^^ NOT True, afaik... Further if you converted from Postpaid to prepaid, then you have to wait for another 3 months to be eligible for MNP request as post to pre (and vice-versa) conversions are considered as getting new connection (and you have to submit your proof and photos again)... -
Suggestion for MNP To Which Operator?
KanagaDeepan replied to ssk the gr8's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
I assume you from Bhilai-Nagar, CG (from your profile)... From my experience, Aircel has very very small coverage in Raipur and some say that its using Docomo network if network is not available... I am using Aircel 3G in Sivakasi and its unable to catch 2G network even in cenre of Raipur-City (Jai-Stambh chowk)... So I don't think its better to go for Aircel... Coverage of Airtel (AirHELL) is good all-over CG afaik... If 3G is NOT important to you go for AirHELL (as AirHELL and Vodafone BOTH are using Idea3G but speed is capped below 3Mbps tested by me)... What I doubt is the Aircel signal shown in you phone may originally be of Docomo (check with Docomo SIM)... In that case go for Docomo, which has 3G license in CG.. Another good option is Idea, which is king in CG and also has own 3G network there... -

MTNL Mumbai Introduces New 3G Plans (Including Unlimited Data Packs)

Imho, the main problem with curved displays in Nexus S and Prime is Gorilla-glass can't be used in them... Yes, Photon is the sexiest of current lot and it is much much more beautiful in real than in photos... It doesn't looks like 12mm thick, plus battery life and kick-stand are great, imho... I agree sir that, being a Moto device we may doubt the arrival of ICS to Photon, but I got Photon with hope that take over of Moto-Mobility by Google may bring ICS for sure, imho... Further the un-locked bootloader of Photon supports my guess...
-
offtopic reply to Karthir ji... Yes, I am using Photon for my GSM number... I selected Photon as my family members will beat me if I again spend 30k for a new phone for me and the recent Google take over of Motorola-Mobility (ICS may reach soon or atleast ICS will reach for sure) and other small things like kick-stand, better camera [means Dual-LED flash + cam button], bigger battery, 3G video-calls, same EPIC key layout [Menu, Home, Back and Search buttons] made me select Photon... ontopic: Only thing I am wondering is will there be any way to disable the icon-set at bottom of display to old devices (Back, Home, Menu keys), to save some screen area and to avoid redundant keys...???

Samsung Outs Sprint's Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
KanagaDeepan replied to Karthik R's topic in Samsung
^^^^^^ Sir ji... Worst performance in GSM mode is OK for a world phone... But I am comparing CDMA phones only, ie) EPIC in CDMA (with Tata) is NOT as good in coverage as BB8830 (again in Tata CDMA), imho... -
Wow... Hw acceleration coming to UI in ICS and optimised Dual-Core preformance... I am eagerly waiting for ICS for my Photon-4G...
