Rajan Bhai, though handset options is the No1 reason for current condition of CDMA in India, there are other annoying issues as well... 1) Well, RCdma is my first CDMA operator (long back), but they have cheated me soooo much that I will never use their nw for my primary number, let alone my group of connections... 2) Now TATA_Cdma is ok and NO billing issues, they respect corporate connections, allz well.. But they are NOT AT ALL ready to expand EV-DO coverage (All other 3 has EVDO in Sivakasi, but Tata has NO EVDO in a circle of 300KM radius from my town), NO NEW OMH POSTPAY RUIMS here in TN, degrading network & CC nowadays and switching off their towers in low usage areas, call drops n congestion in CG... In short they are NOT ready to develop their CDMA business.. Even the rep who called me immediately after sending port out req asked me to port to Docomo, he even didn't asked me the reason for leaving Indicom... 3) MTS CC is as lame as old BSNL CC... Also they are NOT AT ALL interested in POSTpaid, even a corp connection... As Hetal ji pointed out, they have no coverage in CG and I have to use the same congested Tata nw there... 4) Reg BSNL_Cdma, I will NOT EVEN COMMENT (no need also, I think)... I remember the Ad for N8... "IT IS AN AMAZING PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY... HOW ARE YOU GOING TO USE IT????"... CDMA is an amazing technology.. Its the great Indian operators, who are killing it in India... =================================================================================== Rajan bhai, handset choice is different from handset freedom imho... OMH and ordinary RUIMs give handset freedom (changing handsets easily), but with very little good choices of handset (esp higher end)... Our beloved forum gives good choices of CDMA handsets, but MOST are NOT giving handset freedom (to change handsets at will like OMH and GSM)... But again here our great Hetal ji is coming to rescue... His recent achievement of using RUIM (and that too with EV-DO of all operators + 3GSM also as a bonus) in foreign handsets is a mind-blowing one imho, which brings both handset choice and freedom (if that extends to more world-edition phones in future--which I hope so)... ===================================================== But again this cant help me much as handset is NOT reason for me porting out (NO EVDO love for Tata and NO interest by MTS and BSNL, NO faith in RCdma)... It is the fault of our INDIAN CDMA operators as a whole, imho...

198 is the number to give complaint reg RGsm services and so all the lines to 198 being busy is understandable.. But reg *333, I can guess only one thing---Earlier their CC exec were bunch of jokers, now their CC number also might be behaving so...

^^^^^ Yes, before launching 3G services by pvt, only RGsm, Vodafone and Videocon were giving good gprs speeds in my town... But now, I think they have started this mischief to promote their 3G and EV-DO services to get more revenue comparing EDGE... RCom is very clever in one thing, they invest a lot in EV-DO in circles, where they lost 3G spectrum...

Wow... 20GB at 64kbps speed per month is TRULY UNLIMITED as you can never exhaust that volume using that pathetic speed...

Definitely 20GB of 3G data will be given as standard by all operators for Rs175/- when 5G (NOT even during 4G, imho) was available everywhere... Reasons being operator's greediness and ridiculously high bidding of 3G spectrum...

^^^^ You need to upgrade your RUIM to OMH... Ordinary RUIM has NO settings for data, whereas OMH has... And OMH handsets doesn't comes with data settings in-built... So obviously with ordinary RUIM (with NO DATA settings) it can't access net and it needs OMH RUIM....

Now auto-VAS activations and balance deductions also in Bank-accounts....

I am also moving to TataDocomo from Indicom, but I don't know I can retain the same Indicom plans in Docomo (or to be precise, I don't care much as Docomo is also having nice plans but with small difference in rent)... Further Docomo seems promising as they are improving their network day to day (almost zero black-spot in my town) and quality of Indicom is degrading FASTLY day by day (call NOT AT ALL connecting in first attempt, congestion, too many call drops, no evdo coverage, even BAD 1x data speeds, NO SINGLE network upgradation, etc)...

Very TRUE... But only few consumers are having these much awareness...

^^^^^ Yes, it was once True earlier (I paid Rs0 for all my co fancy numbers from TataIndicom) and half-true now... They have started getting signed on a paper for waiver request asking us to promise some min time in their n/w else pay the payable (waived off amount) charges for vanity number if opting for MNP... Yes, this happened during the launch of MNP....

WOW... Great info... Please clear one thing.. You are saying download at 2G speed, whether it means tethering to pc and NOT downloading files via phone's web browser??? (Bcoz u already said download apps from market at 3G speeds) Anyway nice plan from RGsm 3G... I am eagerly waiting for these type of tariff wars only... Another doubt ji... Whether this will work in roaming also???

Big Red is biggest CDMA operator in USA, RCom here in India... Nothing else I can guess...

97.99 pack looks great... Even better than GPRS packs but on EV-DO... In 3G operators give max 150MB only for Rs100... So t is the best plan up to date... But still it will be better if they used some round figure amount like 96Rs or Rs101 pack, instead of this 97.99 recharge, imho...

From the picture in first post, I guess the phone is a Triple-SIM phone with G+G+C (Two Green buttons with number 1 and 2 on left and another-one green button with letter c on right)...

If the network/voice clarity of RGSM was atleast as good as Docomo or Uninor, RCom might have closed its CDMA business long ago... But since it is even worse than 2G of BSNL, then closing their CDMA division is NOT an option for them, even if they are NOT interested in investing more in CDMA Business...
