  1. Handset Launches - News Snippets

I wonder why HTC phones are always over-priced, even the mid-segment ones too???
  2. Softwares For iPhone

Carrier SIM??? So you are talking about GSM iPhone4 and NOT CDMA one??? I wonder how difficult it will for the CDMA one and when will it come with EV-DO or atleast 1x on our forum
  3. Samsung Plans To Buy Nokia

But that is NOT at all possible till the M$'s Trojan Horse is in Nokia...
  4. Android Versions : Comparison Chart

Ofcourse yes... Next version is Ice-Cream Sandwich, I after H -- HoneyComb... It has both the features of G & H combined... Another interesting thing is that Google initially wanted to name the next version as "Ice cream" only, but then its (IceCream) statue outside their office may confusing with existing Froyo, so they named it as Icecream-sandwich... Delicious isn't it???
  5. Samsung Plans To Buy Nokia

First M$ trying to buy Nokia... Now SAMSUNG... Next who??? May be GFive??? It just reminds me of one old saying, "When Lioness gets fever,........"
  6. Beginners Guide To Android

Excellent work... You are a FACINATing INCREDIBLE EPIC HERO, Dipan Ji... +1s to you...
  7. Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA

*Official samsung specification says the cdma version of pop have 800 Mhz Processor,Bluetooth V3.0,& AF camera(whether GSM version have bt2.0,FF camera,600 Mhz processor)...Is it right? 1. Reg Processor 800 or 600 MHz Don't know and also don't care as phone's performance is good (except in big games and launchers).. But if there is any app to find the CPU speed, I am ready to try it and tell here... 2. Reg camera... PopCDMA has FixedFocus 3MPx camera ONLY.. 3. BT v 3 or 2... Don'know... But transfer of files are fast enough, may be 2.1, but NOT so sure... *Can we use any resolution wallpapers here?(If i use a larger res wall,is it possible to crop, resize it in the phone itself?) Ya... But all the seven desktops will have same wallpaper.. That is the wallpaper size is 240x320 for POP and so is same in all desktops, whereas in EPIC its 960x800 and the seven desktops will have different part of the big wallpaper... *Are u using the battery saving tips(wifi, gps,bt off,low brightness, auto sync of etc etc etc) to save battery power in ur pop? Yes, all... But as I said earlier, don't expect more than a day battery life... *How to activate evdo in my existing MTS number?(MTS EVDO service is available in my area & I will get my omh card with existing MTS number within one or two days) Call CC... In my case, Tata people came with OMH RUIM and special OMH HCC card to my home and transferred my wife's postpaid number to the OMH RUIM... As soon as the number got transferred, internet started working and I got SMS saying "Promo offer was activated on your number" (15GB data FREE x 2 months)... But the only issue is TataEVDO is NOT available in my town and so cant try EVDO on that day.. Tata people said that, there is NO need to activate EVDO on back-end as in RCom... Also next day, when we reached Chennai, i got EVDO signals and 3x was working very fine... Things are simple in Tata, but they don't increase EVDO coverage fastly... I hope the same may be possible in MTS also... Call MTS rep or CC for more infos.. And one more thing, the offer (15GB x 2 months) is for the FIRST activation from the phone (so if activated to one MTS number first, then next OMH activation of MTS/RCom/Tata will never get the offer) and may vanish if the OMH RUIM was inserted into other phone or other RUIM inserted into POP, as told by Tata people to me... So be careful... Hope this helps... Friends, if you have any other doubts, please ask and I will try to answer here reg POP_Cdma...
  8. Even TataCDMA has charged Rs50 for some game download in TataZone in my mom's OMH phone with ordinary RUIM... But when I just called the tata-head, they immediately waived off Rs60 (instead of Rs50)... But still, yes... I too agree that "Anybody who thinks that Tata companies and ethics are synonymous and all that seriously needs to do some rethinking."
  9. Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA

@AvishekGosh ji... All the launchers gets installed... But (as expected) it reduces the performance of the phone too much... All I want is S60 style list of running apps + ability to kill them + switching to other app + seeing recent app... For that I am using is PreHome, which is very light-weight and does the following things:- 1. On double-clicking HOME key, shows the list of running apps (in regular color icon) + recently-used-but-closed apps (in slightly grey shaded icon).. 2. We can open new app from recent or jump to any running app from there.. 3. Press and hold an icon of running app will kill that app.. 3. Pressing home key brings to Home of default launcher selected by us, yes it can be adw or go or SamsungHome.. PreHome doesn't affect phone's performance and it is much much better than default-recent-apps list by Samsung (comes by pressing and hold HOME key)... @Dipan ji, I will definitely try your method when I get some free time, most probably during this week-end... Anyway thanks a zillion for your efforts and +1 to you sir ji....
  10. Dual Mode 3G Handsets

Ya... The camera is 8MPx, comes with GingerBread, battery is 1880mAh (still good)... Other differences include DualLED instead of SingleLED of Atrix, absence of finger-print scanner... But specs in GSMarena says it doesn't have 3GSM (Dora is the only option for high speed data) and doesn't have EDGE too... But it comes with VGA videocall camera So I doubt, Gsmarena is wrong this time, else this phone doesn't deserves discussion in this thread...
  11. Yes, MTS guys behave like mad people, especially while framing tariff plans by themselves (not during copying like 1p/2sec local, 29p local, UnLimited onnet)... Their earlier goof-ups are:- 1. Unlimited MBlaze for Rs96 a day with 500MB FUP for 3x and later 128kbps.. 2. Rs999 for UL prepaid-data (with 12GB on 3x) and Rs1098 for 10GB on 3x <<brings about Rs1098+Rs1024 {50p/MB} for 12GB>>.. It is better to use 12GB on 999 plan and then recharge another small denomination to continue in 3x after FUP.. 3. QARP/HARP/ARP MBlaze prepaid plans has NO benefit of cost saving to customers and are merely MONTH_PLAN X No_Of_Months (For eg Rs598 gives 1GB for one month and Rs1794 gives 3GB for 3 months) 4. Recently the 1p/2sec STD plan has FUP of 400 STD mins per month and minimum usage of around Rs180 per month 5. Now this almost same rent for all Blackberry plans...
  12. Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA

Dipan ji, can you please help me in rooting this phone----the simplest way, by giving links to the related article... Since this is peak-season for my work, I don't have much time to search and try by trial and error methods... I remember, you have earlier (with name digitalnirvana) showed the methods to force Android to use ad-hoc wifi networks for my rooted EPIC... Dipan ji and other Android gurus of Rimweb, please help me... Thanks...
  13. Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA

Mini Review of GalaxyPOP_CDMA... Pluses:- 01. Response of capacitive screen is very good (for the price) and it supports multi-touch and the size is also good (3.1" I think).. 02. The three HARDWARE keys (Menu, Home, Back) feels much much better than the capacitive keys on my EPIC.. 03. OMH compatible and 1x/EV-DO with offer (15GB x 2 months FREE) was immediately available after number activation on OMH ruim ( as I am using TATA, no need to call CC to activate EVDO from back-end.. 04. Has the goodness of Froyo like pinch-zoom home screen, moving apps, installing apps on SD, (comparing my EPIC with Eclair) 05. Has got SWYPE pre-installed and is working great, you wont miss any keypad/keyboard... 06. Phone is thin and beautiful (for my eyes atleast) 07. Network coverage is EXCELLENT comparing my EPIC... 08. Almost all the apps I have installed on EPIC is working without any major issues on the small screen like quick-settings, preHome, TalkingTom, batteryWidget, Tapatalk, IndianRail, QuickPic, QuickOffice, ALMOST all games <but slow, as expected>, dictionaries, media-players, widgets, etc.. 09. UI speed is good (for the price, RAM) 10. WiFi tethering is working great and I use POP's net on my EPIC (as 1x plans are costly) 11. Memory card slot is outside and you need NOT open the cover to remove card as in EPIC.. 12. Last, but NOT the least, it is a BANG-FOR-THE-BUCKS-CDMA-ANDROID-SMARTPHONE, comparing ridiculously high priced official BBs and other official CDMA smartphones... (I bought for 9k 2 weeks back) MINUSES:- (I WON'T compare it with my EPIC here, promise) 1. Resolution is a issue (only) when browsing websites on browser.. (OperaMini comes to rescue) 2. Camera is FixedFocus and GoogleGoggles and BarcodeReader apps are NOT working (other than that the quality of 3MPx camera is more than enough for occasional snaps).. 3. BatteryLife is NOT that great, that is you SHOULD NEVER expect it to run for MORE-THAN-A-DAY-OF-REGULAR-USE... (Further I doubt therez some issue with the battery of mine as its temperature is always higher in the range of 35 to 45 degree centigrade, but my EPIC's is around 22 to 32 degrees only, using Battery_Solo_Widget) Small NUISANCES:- (Means NOT a deal-breaker issues) 1. The placement of power/Lock button, I used to accidently press volume buttons while pressing power button... But it will be sorted out in few days of using the phone (getting used to)... 2. Sometimes the screen will be over-sensitive and phone will get confused with clicking for scrolling up/down... A solution is using half-cm of the index-finger for scrolling, instead of using just the finger-tip... P.S. :- I have bought this for my wife to replace her CorbyCDMA... She is more than happy with this phone... For her, the capacitive screen, multi-touch UI, youtube videos via 3X, soo many Games, webBrowsing on OperaMini, sooo many apps <I have installed some 150 apps now for her>, Swype are like SEVEN_WONDERS...
  14. Dual Mode 3G Handsets

Now here is a new admission... Link here and the pics of the phone is here... It is again from Motorola to China Motorola_XT882... It has Dual-core CPU (Tegra2), DualSIM (C + G), DualMode3G, DualCameras ANDROID phone with 4" qHD display and 8GB internal memory + MicroSD slot... Well, it is nothing but a WorldEdition of Atrix phone...
  15. All the dates are gone... Any news on new finalised IUC charges, Kesav Ji????
  16. Then its a nice plan... It also saves the STV cost for 2 months... Also you can use this STV anytime when you need cheaper STD calls too...
  17. Very nice plan... But whether the FullTT comes with any validity??? If so, then its better to go for Rs66 (for TN) 3months 0.5p/sec_Local/STD STV, as it is also for STD...
  18. Android Mobiles From India

Really very very nice specs for the money... But I doubt whether they will launch with that price? Once Huwaei Ideos (or other, not sure) proclaimed some good-entry-level specs at very low price of around 6k, but on seeing the demand they increased the price on launching to around 9k... Lets hope this won't happen to this phone atleast...
  19. Android-Number 1 Smartphone Platform Now

Very nice infos Rajan bhai... But right now I am using about 720MB of 1x_data each month on my EPIC (my EPIC till now has no 3x capability, as I am using TataCDMA)...
  20. Please Suggest: Samsung Nexus S or Samsung S2

If money is NOT an issue, go for s-II...
  21. Seems like the deal (Number of suitcases to DoT from RIM) got finalized after a very very long bargaining...
  22. Reliance 3G Plans - How Is Edge/2G Billed?

Suppose you have subscribed a 200MB 3G_data_pack and you have used 100MB in 3G and 10MB in 2G (as 3G is NOT available), you will never be charged separately for 2G usage... Instead the 10MB usage will be deducted from your 200MB 3G limit, AFAIK... So if you will be in 2G areas most of the time, it is better to get 2g_GSM data packs, which are very cheaper than 3GSM...
  23. Once TRAI wanted to mandate the per-second billing and as usual Cartel dis-agreed saying "Market forces should decide price".. Now it is chance for TRAI to implement it along with reduction in IUC, say if they decided for 6p/min, then they can put it up as 1p/10 seconds... Just a wishful thinking ... I guess Docomo's 1p/2sec for 3 months at Rs66 and almost same offer from MTS and Videocon are in expectation of such IUC reduction in pipeline... Let TRAI ignore the Cartel' bluffs and reduce IUC to much low level to keep the competition in market for ever and the new operators may also get some life by doing so... But I still prefer 5p IUC than removing it totally as it may again lead to death of new operators... For example Cartel will then provide UnLimited calls for Rs999 and new operators have to provide the same for Rs250 and obviously higher ARPU users will remain with Cartel and ALMOST ALL aam-aadmi crowd will reach new operators and their network will die in no-time and once-again competion will be lost in telecom industry then... Kesav Ji, when will TRAI report the final decision for the IUC charges??? Please inform us here... Thanks...
  24. Jailor should give him iPod_Shuffle instead of water, iPodTouch instead of food and iPad instead of dress...
  25. MNP Retention Offer You Received

Sunder sir, congrats for your wise decision... VADA phone is known for announcing good retention plans to retain customers and then DON'T implement them... They are no1 cheaters wrt MNP offers... Thank god, you have just escaped from their unethical and evil tentacles...
