Reliance Communications Introduces Enhanced Version of Missed Call Alerts Service
KanagaDeepan replied to Honest's topic in Reliance Communications
I am using MCA of TataCDMA for almost an year... I get missed calls during busy, calls missed when using 1x also (ofcourse when data not transmitted)... It is sooo reliable in TI... But I dont think, the caller will get SMS that I am available when I reached service area, as in this EnhancedMCA... But still MCA in TI is almost flawless, imho... -
Mobile Tariff Set To Go Up
KanagaDeepan replied to KumaarShah's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
VERY TRUE indeed... New operators should also be charged more only after 6.2MHz... But I think Uncle has intently done this to get paise from both new and old... Also asking this much amount from operators contradicts the UNCLE's THEORY that "CAG valuations is WRONG", as he himself is asking (atleast for the extra spectrum) almost the CAG's recommended price now... Let's wait and watch now.... -
So that means NO MORE NEW $URPRISES and those who are already enjoying L1 can continue without any issue??? Or they will also be blocked in coming days??? Please explain sir ji... If old $urprises continues without any issue, then it means RCom has effectively blocked many people in CDMA to jump away from them using MNP...

If a call arrives when browsing in EV-DO, the net is put on hold and the call will reach you... Once you attend and/or disconnect the call, the net resumes... So browsing wont block incoming calls and your callers can anytime reach you anytime, unlike in 1x...

MTNL Unlimited 3G Data Plan Now at Just Rs. 750 per month
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I think its for both types of usage... -
Only one correction Kesav Bhai... RCom gives Rs200 discount if NOT the plans will be Rs950, Rs1100, Rs1500 respectively... That Rs200 discount is for FIRST 12 MONTHS ONLY... TI also gave Rs200 discount for first year (actually they only started this, then RCom followed) and now changed/reduced it to Rs150 and so Rs50 more than RCom's plans... Don't worry, RCom will follow TI in coming days and will have rent same as that of TI... Imho, private CDMA players are making good use of the lack of competition in CDMA-EV-Do segment...

But what if the operators form Cartel, like in EV-DO and 3G data tariffs??? Any OpenMarket SetTop box possible like the OMH phones???

EV-DO from RCom at c00l rates???? RCOM already reduces its EVDO Rev A modem price..... it is now dropped to1599 Tata Photon replies with price drop to1799 for Tata Photon+ devices! Leave their (Incl TI) device price as it is locked to network + just an initial investment... Please tell about EV-DO plans... Imho, NO private operator is giving cool EV-DO tariff, except MTS's 999-UL plan and they too reduced the limit from 15 to 12GB in it... Seeing the FAST EV-DO coverage expansion of RCDMA, I too was tempted to get EV-DO (postpaid) plan from RCom... They advertised as DEVICE FREE.. But in showroom the salesgirl told I have to pay Rs1599, initially for the device... When I asked about the DEVICE FREE, she told that Rs200/- discount will be given for 12 months, and so they called the device as FREE .. On hearing that, I blamed myself for forgeting their tactics and told that I want to see the demo first... I actually thought EV-DO speed can't be that bad ATLEAST INITIALLY, as I have seen excellent <<upto 2.1Mbps>> speed of MTS MBlaze during Launch.. But while testing <<IN their showroom in centre of town with FULL HSIA signal @ 9PM--> NOT A NIGHT_FREE time>> I was amazed on seeing the speedtest result at speedtest.in <<His Laptop doesn't have Flash, so cant see youtube and speedtest.net sites>> THE RESULT IS <<I PROMISE ON MY BABY CHILD---THIS IS TRUE AND AM NOT ANTI-RELIANCE NOW>> JUST 79Kbps <<Yes bits per second>> Even I got doubt whether the modem is catching 1x signal, but the TOWER says HSIA and MAX speed got at one $purt <<only once or twice>> around 412kbps and hence I am convinced that the device is connected to HSIA signal only... The salesman says that he has got low balance and so speed reduced to 1x and went to site to check balance, but the webpage told the balance is 3098MB and hence HSIA balance is still available.. Then I asked them how many towers are equipped with HSIA?? They told as TWO, one in bus-stand <<250m from the showroom>> and other in Satchiyapuram... Still having doubts on speedtest.in server, I browsed for some time in GOOGLE IMAGES and saw the speed to load an image of 2MPx size, taking way too much of time... So the condition of RCom EV-DO in Sivakasi is PATHETIC PERIOD... MTS launched EV-Do in Sivakasi during Christmas day <<On 4 towers in Sivakasi and two in Thiruthangal>> and said coming to Rajapalayam and Virudhunagar in one month each... But RCom launched in Sivakasi, Thiruthangal, Virudhunagar, Srivilliputur, Rajapalayam at once after Pongal... I heard the similar issue from my friend in Rajapalayam, that speed is BAD... May be they have NOT done enough testing before launching... But whose fault is this??? What is the use of buying networked locked device for cheap and that too FALSELY advertised as FREE... Friends, please test the EV-DO speed (if possible in your locality) before going for RCdma's EV-DO... RCom is playing the number game to attract/cheat customers, imho... TI is killing its customers by NOT AT ALL launching EV-DO fastly... RCom is killing its customers by launching EV-DO PATHETICALLY... Only MTS is OK, but their 1x speed s**ks BIG TIME (or atleast in Raipur)...

MNP Retention Offer You Received
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Wow... For an individual connection, you got 500mins/month T2T FREE for two years as retention offer??? Guess my asking of T2T FREE (for all numbers) along with cheap 1x browsing (for two connections) is way too little for my corporate connection of ten, imho... Friends, please suggest further FREE goodies The only problem is, I got one info that TataCDMA people are asking the retained people to sign an agreement of "NOT switching to another network for 6 months"... Though 30p Local and 50p STD seems cheap now, on further reduction in IUC they may seem WAY TOO COSTLY in coming days... Kesav Ji... Any info regarding reduction in IUC coming near??? Please tell us here, bhai.... -
Mobile Number Portability (MNP): Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
KanagaDeepan replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Very TRUE... And often Late entering people are having good tariffs.. I always prefer them over the old ones unlike most people... I got Airtel, when they entered TN when Aircel and BPL are old ones, and got better tariffs from Airtel , well during their launch.. Then when BSNL entered, I throw Airtel (now converting it to BSNL) and got BSNL and got better and good roaming tariffs.. When BSNL got network issues and RCom entered I changed BSNL as my second number and used RCdma and got still cheaper roaming tariffs.. When RCdma cheated and TataCdma entered and gave me a DIAMOND NUMBER for FREE, I throw RCdma and used TataIndicom as my main number and got best roaming tariffs.. Now MTS entered and since Tata doesn't improve EV-DO coverage and programming their number in foreign handsets is like pain in WHERE YOU KNOW, I am thinking of changing to MTS, with the same fancy number.. When Videocon improves coverage PanIndia or when MTS cheats, I may think of moving to Videocon again, thanks to MNP.. What I want to tell is "THE ONE WHO IS FROM THE BEGINNING IS NOT NECESSARILY GOOD".. "If YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER STARTED TAKING YOU FOR GRANTED, PUNISH THEM IMMEDIATELY".. "Now since MNP has arrived, that will be still easy, imho"... Further if the provider of your choice had poor network/in-building coverage in your area, then force them to provide REPEATER in your building for FREE... This can be accomplished easily from a new operator, even if you are NOT a bulk customer.. I have seen TataCDMA doing same in our town...- 242 replies

But once TRAI said new IUC charges are to be introduced from 1-Jan-2011, but got NO confirmed news about it till now... Or AM I MISSING something??? Kesav Ji, please throw some light on this... Uninor Introduces Roam Free Offer for Mumbai Customers Traveling To Gujarat
KanagaDeepan replied to anshu_s09's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Karthik Ji... What you are asking is correct, as operators will get revenue from Calling party in Incoming calls (15p for Local, 20p for STD call) even if they started charging Incoming calls as FREE in roaming... But guess the situation:- Now many people who need to call family-members in other circle have to make STD calls only... But if Roaming-Incoming was made FREE, then many (more than 50%, imho) will give their LocalSIM (WORST CASE IS GIVING FREE-CUG SIM) to the friends/relation/others and will make LOCAL calls to them and as a result, hours of NLD calls were made with REVENUE of LOCAL CALLS to the operator on BOTH SIDES... So if at_least Local/STD difference is removed there is a chance for getting FREE incoming calls in roaming... Till then, we have to live with, partial FREE-Roaming-Incoming plans (for serious roamers like Rs525BSNL -- 300mins, TataCDMA -- 2000mins) and that too with higher rentals only... -
