  1. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

My suggestion for you is to avoid spending lots of money on CDMA handset. If your need is just to call, there are so many options available from Rs 1000 - Rs 4000. If you need color screens, polyphonic ring tone, bluetooth, camera etc..you may need to spend little extra. But going beyond Rs 6K for CDMA is not advisable.
  2. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

If you have EDGE or GPRS connection in your GSM phone, you can effectively make use of many features like SMS, Email, WAP, FM Radio etc. For sending bulk SMS thru Nokia GSM phones are easy from your PC using Nokia PC Suite. Though Nokia PC Suite for 6255 (CDMA) is there, it does not allow you to send SMS from your PC. In India both GSM and CDMA operators have to rollout advanced networks sooner or later. What I hear from other sources is GSM operators have already deployed 3G networks but could not enable it because government/TRAI is still in limbo on spectrum policy. Good thing about GSM is you need not wait for such a long time to get new handsets, as there are so many manufacturers around the globe make GSM/3G phones which can be used in Indian networks. Same is not true for CDMA networks. Let us not forget that GSM phones are getting lot cheaper, you can migrate to another provider(which is not possible in CDMA handsets) etc...If you don't like Airtel you can still go to Hutch or Idea or Aircell or BSNL. If you buy 20K CDMA handset and if you encounter problems with the network operator, you can only pity the poor customer!
  3. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

6265 is not a high-end phone except for 2 MP camera. It does not have Ev-Do and it is a Symbion 40 series. In the international CDMA markets there are more advanced handsets available which are supported by more advanced networks. You might eventually feel ok to miss 6265 because there are obvious better options available but for those options to become reality, it might take lots of time. This makes your decision to move to GSM/Airtel a valid one!
  4. India To Surpass Us In Mobile Bussiness

Most of these countries have advanced Mobile networks. In India we have only basic GSM/CDMA network hardly functioning. Even the basic features available in US/Japan/UK and other markets are not available. Many of the so called advanced services are not affordable for common India subscriber which are available for free in other countries. Let us stop comparing ourselves and focus on improving the infrastructure.
  5. GSM - WCDMA Dual Handset

My understanding is, existing CDMA will migrate to EV-DO while GSM providers will migrate to W-CDMA/UMTS. I think people are getting confused of CDMA and WCDMA! Still TRAI is mulling on spectrum policy. So I do not consider this rumor as credible.
  6. Spectrum policy and 3G network is like, RIM announcing the arrival of Nokia 6265. Both GSM and CDMA operators do not want to move further. They apparently get enough money with their existing ancient and outdated networks such as CDMA, GSM, GPRS etc... They actually fear for competition from Global telecom players; so they keep on arguing with each other and trying to fool the public that only TRAI-DOT is responsible for the delay. This TRAI-DOT and Telecom Ministry is perfectly playing its role in preventing technological advances in this country. If 3G spectrum is opened up for Global Players, Indian subscribers will be able to see 3G/EV-DO and other advanced networks in India much sooner. In many countries such implementations are seamless and without much delay. With TATA/Reliance/Airtel around, we can safely assume that India will see 3G network only in the next century.
  7. Motorola CDMA Razr V3c

I would be really surprised if this handset ever be launched in India for RIM.
  8. Pramod Mahajan Passes Away

I can't control my tears for this young man and a bright soul. He was such a down to earth person while talking to the news person; even when he was provoked with silly (as always) media questions. I feel his demise is a great loss for this country and it will take few years before BJP gets back to business normal. Whether Pravin was motivated by [potential political opponents] some one else to kill his own brother? In politics anything is possible. Shame on Pravin who killed his own brother and a deprived this country a visionary political leadership. This guy must be stonned to death.
  9. What is this Annual Charges worth Rs 9000? Is it paying yearly subscription in advance or some thing else?
  10. Nokia 6255 Reviewed

You need to go thru the following thread in detail from the begining. http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?showtopic=4196 Still if you are unable to connect to internet thru BT then you may ask further questions. I have sold my replaced [but brand new and unused] Nokia 6255 for Rs 9600. My piece of advice is not to spend more than Rs 4K for any handset in CDMA segment. Already, CDMA handset market in India is awefully outdated even with new arrivals and would be arrivals.
  11. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

Price wont drop just like that in CDMA segment especially for those premium handsets. Look at Nokia 6255, RIM is still selling this for Rs 12.5 K even after 10 months of launch.
  12. Airtels New Strategy.

Dear Peter, I would not take that as an excuse for cheating TN people. They come up with so many plans but they never give it in paper in Tamil Nadu. None of their offers are available in blac-and-white papers. When I request for a written contract where they clearly mention all the rate plans, they refuse to give. Long time back Airtel came up with a plan Sachin/TF plan where calls between TN Circle and Chennai Circle [that too Airtel-Airtel Mobile calls] at Rs 1.00 Per Minute. But I received a bill at the rate of Rs 2.99 Per minute. When I asked they told it was due to ADC. But they never bother to inform TN customers properly. All these momentary offers in TN are there ONLY to cheat poor TN Customers. I can only pity TN people for being exploited by others.
  13. Airtels New Strategy.

In US if there is a Billing error they give equal amount as credit. But they have stopped this after some time. Here the billing is not consistent across all circles. For example: Airtel in Karnataka may be giving error free service but in Tamil Nadu they indulge in cheating. Whereas, Reliance in Mumbai may be giving error free billing service but when it comes to South India, they are worst offenders. I am not sure how this can happen? Whether they deliberately screw up the system in certain circle where there is no political activism is less. For example: Karnataka and Tamil Nadu customers are always at the receiving end. While Kerala customers get what they want, same with Mumbai & Delhi customers. Looks to me there is a pattern in cheating Indian public based on your geographical area and political background in the state. I can say with authority that most of the providers are there to cheat TN customers.
  14. All About Nokia 6255

This is already discussed long back in detail. You may able to find out by searching.
  15. Trai And 3g Spectrum Policy

Looks like TRAI is not interested in 3G Technologies. TRAI has appointed new chairman who seems to be another retired Government babus knows only how to enjoy perks and petty benefits. No concrete steps have been taken to implement 3G technology in India. While entire world has moved to 3G or EV-DO, Indian operators are providing useless data services. Mr Maran has disappointed on this count. It is convenient for operators to blame the TRAI and government for spectrum policy while stopping every attempt to rationalize the allocation of spectrum. These players like Reliance, TATA, Airtel, Hutch & BSNL have nothing to lose because they can still cheat poor Indian customers with their basic CDMA/GSM services for another 10 years.
  16. Quotas

I was observing a debate in NDTV where one professor Kancha Illaya was telling the audiance that when things have to be settled in streets [if reservation bill does not go thru], SC/ST/OBC/BC will have the upper hands over the so-called Upper Castes! I was wondering whether he wants the government to replace the JEE with 'Arm Wresleting' and replace CAT with 'Kick-boxing'? Then we can call IIT as Indian Institute of Thugs and IIM as Indian Institute of Misdemeanors.
  17. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

April 6th, tomorrow, yesterday are more like wishes than credible information. We can console ourselves by telling that this handset is ready in the showroom but Reliance only is not interested kind of stories.
  18. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

People need to make conscious decision when they go for Nokia 6265. Pros: 1. Better design 2. Features which are almost similar to 6255 except may be 2 MP Camera. 3. Probably better memory Cons: 1. Pricy 2. When EV-DO comes, you may need to shell out another 25K for getting EV-DO handsets in addition to 20K that you are going to spend on 6265. 3. What is the resale value when you want to upgrade to EV-DO 4. Is it worth for Rs 20K compared to 6255 which can be bought for 11K or so? I really doubt. 5. The most important reason: it is Reliance!
  19. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

My guess is based on the assumption that last year they did the same for Nokia 6255. May be they need one full year to flush out all Nokia 6255 from their warehouse. EVDO & 6265: If 6265 is not EVDo capable I do not see any reason why anyone should even waste their money on this handset? Especially, when Basant says that Reliance can rollout EVDO in 6 months after they get the approval! Why any one in the world would spend 20K for a handset [6265] which is NOT EVDO capable at the same time the provider is ready to rollout?
  20. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

My guess is August'15, 2006 or just before that. Any way it will not help Reliance customers who already have 6255 but people will be hesitant to spend around 20K unless this handset is EVDo capable.
  21. Nokia 6265 CDMA Launched on Reliance Mobile now !

I would play like Rahul Dravid when I see an expensive handsets coming from Reliance, I would leave that delivery directly going to the keeper. Why invest so much while you know the obvious.
  22. I am not sure how common CDMA users in India would benefit from this? If this is available within India [between GSM-CDMA providers] it makes sense. But 'One World One Number' etc...will not benefit many CDMA customers in India. Why can't they focus on establishing EVDo in their networks? Why can't they modernize their handset procurements and give free hands for handset manufacturers? Stabilize their billing system etc...
  23. The competition in the Wired Broadband is growing and Airtel/BSNL/TATA are already existing in major metros. Reliance may need to come out with something phenominal to enter this market. As far as Mobile Broadband is concerned GSM providers are handicaped due to delay in the 3G spectrum policy decision from TRAI. Even if Reliance implements EVDO based on what I heard somewhere in the discussions that it would still force customers to buy network specific EVDo capable handsets. You will not be able to use Evdo handsets across different providers. These EVDO handsets will not cheaper for sure. Still CDMA segment needs to grow a long way.
  24. All are good in paper. But how can public trust TRAI if it does not take proactive measures and make sure that telecom operators are ahering to the guidelines? TRAI must come out with a quarterly report on all providers and present it to the consumer forum. There must be points assigned for each areas like: 1. Network Quality 2. Customer Care 3. Billing & Tarrif changes 4. Interconnectivity etc.. All the procedures/documents and measurements must be made available for the general public so that telecom customers can make informed decisions.
  25. Creative Advertising ? Better Watch Out !

Why not?! Unless Animal rights wing do not sue the ad agency. Infact, I have seen Animal rights wing taken up a case against one of the companies I used to work with when they aired a commercial in which Gorilla Monkey acted as a character. To counter Animal rights wing, the company had to provide all necessary details and telling them that they never intended to abuse the animal either physically [due to lightings, etc...] or otherwise [in the name of humor]. So if a Gorilla can have rights, why not a human being? I am not saying what Naukri did was wrong? because it might have been unintentional but that does not make the litigation as bogus, greedy etc… This litigation may bring some sort of awareness among various ad agencies on sensibilities of people that are characterized in their commercials. In that direction I welcome this law suit. If the intention is to make quick money or if Naukri is trying to get some media attention thru proxy law suits, then it must not be encouraged.
