OK I have got rid of the " non-Verizon SIM..." notification I installed titanium backup and was freezing the bloatware and apps I generally don't use. After reboot notification was gone. Yes you would know my Blue SIII !!! But would love if it could go... OK What about Flashing ROMs or deleting bloatwares, or factory resets, how far I can go, I am OK with ODIN, CWM, and other basic stuff, BUT people have scared me about the Verizon and information is scanty on net. I find that generic unlock code may be entered somwhere on detection of non-verizon sim from following opening post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777940 But where I do not know. Also I have CDMA ws latest addition, if that may help me get rid of this small issue as well. Off course I am loving it and going to enjoy every bit of it.

Hi Today I received my S3, Verizon version and got it activated on Reliance. Everything is working, thank God. Now only problem is that without SIM in the sim slot I receive notification (this is ongoing and can't be removed) With Idea SIM in it still shows Non-Verizon SIM in notification (and this also does not go) Great thing is I am able to switch to GSM mode and make receive calls and connect in 3G mode for data. Can some one tell me how to remove the sim notification? Also Is there a way to Play with ROMs without running the risk to get locked without activated verizon sim? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Today I transfered my number to My new EVO3D through *228 and also made and received few calls. Then I do not know why I brought trouble to my self by going into EPST and changing username in advanced. After which I have not been able to make a single call. I tried hard reset, then loaded from incredible's backed up NAM settings to EVO3D. Nothing seems to work All outgoing calls disconnect in 2 secs, including *228. incoming goes to voicemail. Please guide me
-
WOW... BUT how soon would that soon be...?? Voice on EVDO should mean 3G data?? or I am expecting too much Last time that was hinted on this thread was long back... Hope we get it soon So is there a way to get back EPST.apk working without factory reset? Doc could you pull out EPST.apk from system if that will help... (sorry that does sound demanding!!)

I am on stock rom rooted, on stock radio (NOT updated my radio) PRL is 00005 and ERI 5. I remmember having changed EVRC to EVRC-b as recommended by DK and I am able to access my NETWORK settings through qpst!!, But would like to have EPST ##778 back as it allowed me easier option to access them and edit. I tried *228 but got error "programming failed" which suggests EPST.apk is corrupt. Checked under settings>applications>manage applications>EPST it shows with 0 BYTES and nothing else. Another observation Version of EPST through task manager is 2.1 update 1, BUT in settings>applications>>EPST>about the version is 7 !!?? is that OK?
-
Dear Friends I need epst.apk for incredible. Seems like mine is corrupted for some reason because now ##778 does nothing. Can someone with root pull out this file and post. Also I did find epst.apk from hero thread on androidforum but I am not sure whether that would work, so Gurus if you could help.... Thanks in advance.

Easily WakeUp Incredible with Track Pad! After searching since I bought Incredible I had been missing this functionality on Inc. Finally I got this file elsewhere and this gets me love my Inc even more. Hope there are others who would like it as well. Just download the file, Unzip and put the file in the tools folder of SDK. while phone is powered on plug it in and then do Code: adb reboot recovery Once in recovery: Code: adb shell mount -a (it will give error saying it couldnt mount curtain things. This is OK) now run Code: df (It will output some data and percentage figures) Now run Code: cd /system/usr/keylayout cp qwerty.kl qwerty.kl.old (do this so we have a backup incase we need to go back) Now run Code: adb push qwerty.kl /system/usr/keylayout adb reboot Wola... once booted, you would be able to power on the screen with the optical trackpad. qwerty.zip

As already mentioned my others you have two options Froyo/Root. I can just inform you that I have been using WiFi tether for some time with my rooted Inc and it works just fine. Also now Root is now much easier with latest method released.

For all those, Like me, Who felt HTC Hero boot was better than Static dull boot of Incredible... Custom Boot Animations Has many wonderful animations that can be picked. I made video of mine and uploaded if that looks good files with procedure below. Download the 2 attached files and put them in your Android SDK/Tools Folder. send following commands adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/ adb reboot {disclaimer: Neither the bootanimation nor the audio was created by me, Only this combination used by me for My custom Bootanimatiom} There is link for animation as file was big but audio is attached for direct download. bootanimation android_audio.mp3

I feel thats apparent, I also felt this initially and got back to stock, but then timed both bootloads and found comparable result. Infact I feel Since the time I rooted its taking bit longer to boot... BUT would not go back from ROOT achieved with such effort. Take this link and test as many animations "BOOT ANIMATIONS" Thank you, . Yes this would require you to change the desc.txt file in the bootanimation.zip from what it is in mine and like: 480 800 10 p 1 0 part0 p 0 0 part1 480 800 10 Width, height, frame rate p 1 0 foldername Play 1 time, then pause for 0 frames p 0 0 otherfolder Play infinite times, no pause between loops to 320 480 10 p 1 0 part0 p 0 0 part1 after saving this file you have to zip back without compression. so may have to use something like 7zip from here This change is reversible and you can get back to stock by Running following commands in cmd promt with phone connected in usb debug mode through adb. adb shell ls -l /data/local rm /data/local/bootanimation.zip rm /data/local/android_audio.mp3 adb reboot.

+1 Thank you For some reason this has solved the problem of fluctuation of signals.

First of all I take no credit for this. This is after almost 4-5 days of research and then finally getting the root on my Incredible through this method that I thought may be I should write summary of what I researched so as to make the job easier for some noobs, like me. 1.Begin by installing HTC sync. 2.Also install Android SDK along with the USB driver. Now this driver is and its .inf is in the sdk folder/usb driver. 3.Edit .inf of usb driver by opening the .inf file and adding following lines under google.nt86 at the end of section: ; ;HTC Incredible %SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9E %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C9E&MI_01 %SingleBootLoaderInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0C94 Save this file. 4.Update drivers in device manager by browsing to path to saved USB driver, usually c:\sdk\usb_drivers. 5.Now download this Incredible Rooter app from Rooter Applic 6.extract to tools folder in sdk directory. 7.Now with phone on and connected to PC through USB, click rooter application from tools directory. Step 1. link "download" when finished downloading it will say finished, click OK. Step 2. link "Reboot into recovery" will cause the phone to reboot into recovery, Step 3. will check the success and will output "success" or "fail". If fail restart and continue from step 2. If you get "success", before going to next step, you should still be in the triangle with the ! screen. press vol up and power to go back to the menu. DO NOT REBOOT. 8.Press vol down to highlight "apply: update.zip" and press the power button It will say failled .... NO PROBLEM, carry on 9.In the Rooter application that is still running hit following: Step 4. "Push Files" will push all files. 10.now open cmd prompt type cd \ cd sdk cd tools 11.Now type the next command but DO NOT PRESS ENTER YET adb push payload-update.zip /sdcard/update.zip 12.Next step is on phone AND PC so read before executing. Press the power button on Apply: update.zip within 1/2 second (just as you see meter like thing start on phone) press enter on the command window to execute the above command. 13.If successful you should see “unrEVOked for Incredible” with some other stuff 14.Now type the following commands to make it persistent through reboot adb shell su /system/bin/cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su /system/bin/chmod 4777 /system/bin/su export PATH=$PATH:/system/bin cd /system/app cat /sdcard/Superuser.apk > Superuser.apk cd /system/bin cat /sdcard/su > su ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su /* IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE DO rm /system/xbin/su THEN REDO */ chmod 06755 su 15.Now you are rooted and can uninstall city id, etc /* City ID */ /system/bin/rm /system/app/CityID.apk 16.For wifi tether just click Post step "Enable WIFI Tether" link in Rooter application, Download wifi application from the link that will come up and save to SD card after reboot and install as any .apk. Hope this may help few in being rooted more easily.

With all respect for gurus like you, I did not take any credit for the method. I mentioned it in the first line itself. The link you have given shows "they will be back soon", I did not take the method from there. This is compilation of informatio from various places on androidforum and xda. But still, I have mentioned few differences in the procedure which I feel tend to work better, at least in my experience of rooting 3 times successfully by this method while I was struggling to get the root before this. You may have noted I have combined few steps from two methods most popular elsewhere. I was researching for many days and failing. I was confused about people mentioning about 1.SD card compatibility 2.Driver issues 3. Timing issues, I have in this method ensured that all issues would be taken care of. I have in one place tried to provide information regarding 1.Driver modification in .inf, 2.timing is taken care by Incredible rooter application, and for some reason 3.card does not matter in this method 4.steps 9,10,11 are where the two methods combine. This is for noobs like us and not for masters like you. Was just trying to contribute my bit as I have got so much from this forum I felt like contributing. I am sorry if I made some mistake.

Has anyone on RimWeb got root going on Incredible? Following is question to all the senior members Please, Someone clarify because going through all the posts on xda and androidforum, I find there are people who are finding only certain root apps working and asking for Superuser permissions while rest not working. So it is possible that this has something to do with the way we push Superuser and give path/permissions in the system. As per the post about how to get permanent root after reboot steps are: adb shell su /system/bin/cat /system/bin/sh > /system/bin/su /system/bin/chmod 4777 /system/bin/su Once at root (#) prompt in adb recovery export PATH=$PATH:/system/bin cd /system/app cat /sdcard/Superuser.apk > Superuser.apk cd /system/bin cat /sdcard/su > su ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su chmod 06755 su But the original unrevoked teams updated method gives different method for permissions and superuser; Original Unrevoked Root Guide * On the host, run adb push Superuser.apk /sdcard/Superuser.apk * On the host, run adb shell to bring up a shell on the device. o In the device shell, type su to become root. o In the device shell, run /system/bin/toolbox dd if=/sdcard/Superuser.apk of=/system/app/Superuser.apk o In the device shell, run /system/bin/chmod 644 /system/app/Superuser.apk * Congratulations! You now have a barebones rooted Incredible. Look in the post-hack tasks below for other things you might want to do before you reboot.

Very interesting...!!! Does that mean its possible...???

Are there any settings for MMS? Will it work on our devices without EVDO? Found solution to Long SMS problem. The Handcent application on Market does solve it. In the settings under send message settings choose to split message longer than 160. (there are few options to split, I chose split by word and count...). Works great.
-
Has any one faced the following issue? When I type message of more than 160 characters (that is of more than one page) and send I get error "Cause Code: 107 Error Class: 3". Single page message gets sent. I receive messages normally. But again for the Multi page message I receive only 1st half, though the sending phone shows no error. Does anyone know possible solution/setting that I am not able to set. I googled for the error code and sms issues but found only few people like me in sprint blog but no solution. Other than that Signal strength on My Incredible is fluctuating too much. I changed slot cycle to 1 and enabled diversity 1x, still too much signal fluctuation.

I am using WinXP. I Dialed ##3424# after connecting USB cable, and also tried to connect after having put it in DIAG mode. Problem is each time I connect after Installing HTC_Sync_2.0.33 (which I downloaded from sprint support) it does not install driver. Found new hardware shows android phone and when I show C:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\XP_x86, and choose any of the three .inf I get error "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware." When I show it path to "C:\android-sdk-windows\usb_driver" and choose "android_winusb" it does seem to install and reaches finish point but then still kind of loop starts as it re-presents me found new hardware - Android Phone .... This appears to have started after I installed updates in my sdk including the usb driver. This I did because I was always getting USB root hub ! in device manager earlier and though htc sync used to connect and I had connection with adb server, I used to be itchy as to why I was not get clean Device manager and why I was not getting mass storage in PC. SO I thought may be it has to do with my root status so I tried to upgrade SDK driver and have apparently landed in a bigger mess. Hope I made sense. and someone can please helllp.

From nowhere I have landed into strange problem. I have been struggling for last two days but no success. I have lost ability to connect my Hero to PC. When I connect it PC recognizes "Android Phone" in Found New Hardware. but by all means including "have Disk" though I reach Finshed installing, I am not able to start HTC sync, nor am I able to connect to adb. In device manager ! is seen and NO PORT appears in diagnostic mode. I have tried showing path to driver freshly downloaded (if mine older was corrupt) no luck I Updated Driver to v3 in sdk. still no luck. Please help.

Sir, not trying to argue but just felt curious as to which is more important while comparing power peformance stats of devices, I found that Incredible has standby time of only 146hrs vs 360hrs of hero. I am using hero just like you but never get more than two days with moderate use. so with less than half the standby time incredible might not last through the day !!!??

A CDMA iPhone from Reliance Communications or Tata Indicom? It may not be too far, if some reports in the blogosphere have to be believed. Apple, which makes the iPhone is apparently planning to bring out a CDMA version of its iconic iPhone next year, say reports. http://www.dancewithshadows.com/tech/cdma-iphone-from-reliancetata-indicom-launch-likely-in-2010/ Opinions and reactions invited. Felt this would spark interesting debate but CDMA section did not have Apple link so request Moderator to place this topic suitably and set the ball rolling.

Some members on xda forum are saying that they have upgraded to new signed Radio on Stock 1.5 rom as well and are seeing improvement. SOS!!! Please suggest solution.
