If you use your Reliance Phone primarily from home, would you say you would like to pay lesser charges? The fact is Reliance is primarily a Cellular Operator and RConnect is one of their services offered. Whether you require mobility or not is entirely upto you. No matter where you live, you can always opt for a connection that will suit your budget so why use Reliance if you're not happy with their pricing? You say you don't use regularly, then why do you need unlimited use in the first place? Ofcourse if they reduce their charges, thats good for all of us.

It may be possible. A friend of mine got a DSL connection in Calcutta where he used to get 1 ~ 2Mbps speeds. It was a special offer though and he got unlimited downloads so he was downloading away in full glory. I don't know if they put a limit on the downloads later on. He's now moved to Delhi so I have no idea about how that service is anymore. I'd spend any amount to get a connection at half that speed or even a quater.

Okay, Well I don't plan to use the phone to make calls or anything so I think I should have no such issue with "Credit Limit" as posted by red shift. Or if there is something I should still know, enlighten me please. To: TeeKay: That software is DU Meter. It is very good! To Tanveer: Is ______ a P2P or Torrent Client? Not sure what you're asking about.

Could you elaborate on the "credit limit"?

Unfortunately there is no broadband available where I live as it is a small village.

Thats great to know. So then I could be downloading triple of what I get now on my dialup. Seems a good reason to but it. I don't know about speeds that I can get in my area though. Does RConnect have a return policy? What if I buy the card and it is very slow or something.. Can I return the card and get a full or partial refund after cancelling the connection?

Actually I'm just looking to collect info from heavy users so I could make an effective decision to switch to RConnect. Here is my usage on Dialup (BSNL)... I got a PM from an admin saying that I might want to reduce the options in the forum to get better results. I'm quite amazed though. Some people say they get 10 ~ 20K speeds on RConnect.. So wouldn't that be enough to download a fairly large amount of data daily on an unlimited download plan?

Often on certain IRC servers, I am refused connection because of my IP address not being able to reverse resolve into its hostname. Many ISPs in India have this problem and often I find the need to use a Socks Proxy server inorder to join some private networks on IRC. Now the question is, does your IP address reverse resolve?

Whoever uses the Rconnect cards, please use this test and post your results. It would be very helpful for other users. Also let us know what City you're located if possible so we have a better idea. Mcafee Speedometer (Online Check)

I asked on some IRC Channels on Undernet and some say that it is probably because the ISP isn't set up correctly. What do you think about that?
-
How much time does it take to recieve the card? Can you go to a webworld and instantly purcahse one?
-
If it was night time free.. then I would take such a plan any day if I had BSNL DataOne available here but unfortunately I don't. I am awake all night so this would have been the best ISP for me.. Unfortunately for the time being I am stuck with dialup.

I have heard of some people having problems with compatibility on Sony Vaio Laptops.. Does that hold true for many models of Sony? My laptop is model # VGN-A790. Upon checking the sierra wireless website (http://www.sierrawireless.com), I could not find anything related to this. Please post your experience here about compatibility with Laptop brands, especially Sony Vaio. Warning :: No more new Topics for the same issue! -- Chirag

Are you 100% sure they won't be able to do it? I heard there are compatibility issues with Sony Vaio Laptop when using a Sierra Wireless Card (Rconnect Card) and seen the same mentioned here. However, I do not see anything of that sort mentioned on the sierrawireless.com website. Is the compatibility issue for all models or only particular ones? Any experiences? <TOPIC MERGED!>

I use DU Meter. It is very useful.

Is it mandatory that the card be purchased directly from Reliance? I read once earlier on this post that someone had purchased a Sierra AirCard from abroad and then got it activated through reliance. Would this be possible for anyone to do? I think the card may be slightly cheaper if ordered directly rather than having go through Reliance.

From where did you find out that the prices have dropped to 9500? I have been considering the purchase of this card from quite some time but have been reading about it here on the forum to help me with my decision. Today, I finally decided to register on the forum By the way, has anyone have any idea about the Vdata Services offered by Tata Indicom? I know this might not be the right place to discuss it but would like to know which is better (connectivity, data transfer rates, etc), Tata or Reliance.
