A friend of mine recently told me about the Datacards offered by Airtel and the both of us need one but don't know which of the two to buy. The guys at Airtel said the speed is 280Kbps. Is this possible? Theoritically, practically? It costs 15000 which is almost the same as the Reliance Datacard. Although their data plans are not good, I'm more interested in connection speeds when taking up a Wireless connection.

My sister in Bangalore needs to send me a laptop from there (I'm in kerala) but none of the courier companies she contacted allows it saying they don't ship electronics. I even asked BlueDart Express and they said none of the other courier companies will ship Electronics. Does it make sense? How did people on Bazee.com earlier used to ship electronic goods then? I don't get it..

Depending on your system configuration, you could try this (though it'll eat up a lot of resources): You can try installing VMware workstation and run 2 virtual machines running XP, and have each USB modem on separate virtual machines, and install a proxy server on these two virtual machines. Then on the host, use a program that'll use random proxies from a list, and setup your two virtual machine's IP/port in that list. At the moment I'm using a DSL line but I wanted to give this a try (Host and Guest using separate connections) but I'm having a hard time finding the XP driver for my LG RD2030 since reliance has taken it off their site.
-
I need this driver too, for XP. Please upload it to sendspace.com
-
I installed the driver given on the Reliance website for LG RD2030 but it gives an error saying Unexpected ")". What do I do? It doesn't say anything in this thread about the driver installation, just how to configure the dialer. Don't I need the driver too? When I looked for my USB drives, I got this. [ 1.500596] serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A [ 1.501378] 00:0b: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A [ 1.501779] 0000:01:0a.0: ttyS1 at I/O 0xe808 (irq = 16) is a 16450 [ 1.501924] 0000:01:0a.0: ttyS2 at I/O 0xe810 (irq = 16) is a 8250 [ 1.502070] 0000:01:0a.0: ttyS3 at I/O 0xe818 (irq = 16) is a 16450 [25429.659490] usb 1-2: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB0 [25429.983586] usb 1-2: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by ftdi_sio while 'brltty' sets config #1 [25429.994044] ftdi_sio ttyUSB0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0

Has anyone here succesfully connected using Rconnect on Ubuntu 7.04? I tried to install the driver on a live version of Ubuntu before trying it on my actual Ubuntu installation on my hard disk just so I can make sure I don't mess up anything but it returns some kinda error saying there's a problem with one of the lines. According to the reliance website, it states that the linux driver is for RedHat and Fedora and doesn't say anything about Ubuntu so I don't know if it will work or not. Though the tutorial in the forum states that the driver is for Fedora, Redhat, SUSE, Ubuntu, etc., I wanted to check if anyone here has been successful in setting up the connection in Ubuntu. Ubuntu is becoming immensely popular among people like me who are very new to Linux.

Battery Numbers Printed On Lg 2030
TCP/IP replied to CradleOfDevils's topic in General Technical Discussion
Well I think the RD2030 is a really good phone for Rconnect. I don't use it for anything else. -
I have the same problem with my datacable.. I bought it from eBay too... On the cable there is a sticker that says LG 2300.. It says unrecognized device
-
I'm having the same problem. Its annoying the hell out of me. I went to tonnes of Webworlds and they kept giving me the address of another webworld. When I asked them to call and confirm that they have it available, they don't, and jsut tell me to go there and I'll get it. I tried everywhere and can't find it. I told my friend in Bangalore to buy it for me and they didn't have it either. Finally I ended up buying a third party make from Ebay and now this **** says its unrecognized.

How To Use Data Cable For R Connect In Lgrd5340 And Cost?
TCP/IP replied to Vijayakumar's topic in Data services
I installed the drivers and it says "USB Device Unrecognized" Anyone here have LG RD5340 and faced problems? -
Hi, I recently purchased an LG RD 5340 but the store wasnt able to get me a datacable and the Webworlds are too far away from where I live (around 30km) since I live in a small village. Does anyone here have a datacable that he/she can sell to me? It doesn't matter if its a genuine LG or a thirdparty make. I cannot find either out here

I just got a Reliance Prepaid Phone. It gives me an error #691 saying invalid username/password. Is RConnect enabled by default? If not, how do I activate it? Can I do it from the phone or do I need to call them up? Everytime I call up customercare, I'm on hold for over 40 minutes, line gets hung up, and I'm back to square one.
-
No, I purchased two Recharge coupons of 205 each. I tried making an STD call and it works. This is weird. But can't call their customercare #. It tells me to recharge and the line disconnects.
-
Just tried calling *369. It says I need to recharge by buying a recharge coupon, and the call disconnects. How come? I have a balance of Rs 150 right now.

I finally found someone who can sell his datacard to me (Sierra Wireless) but the thing is he lives in Delhi and I'm in Kerala. Would there be a problem when having to transfer it to my name? What will I have to go through for that? Is it difficult to do so? Can he just transfer it to my name and courier me the card?
-
Thanks for the info. I'll see what can be done. So I guess if I take my voter's ID with me, that should be good enough as photo identification and address proof. But the question is will they accept it for a transfership to my state?
-
Hi, I'll be paying 10000.. Im buying it for sure, even if it means I have to go to delhi for it but I want to avoid that if possible.. Just looking for the procedure to transfer it.
-
How do you intend to make it work with reliance though? I would want to bring a Sierra Wireless from the US the same way but make it work with Reliance.
-
17KBps = 136Kbps which is close to the 144Kbps speed that Reliance say they're providing.

Has RIM Started Accepting Non Reliance Handset
TCP/IP replied to reply2manish's topic in Technical / OS related
That just meant you can buy reliance phones from shops other than webworld. It does not mean you can use use non reliance. When you've got your answer directly from Reliance saying No, why waste time looking furthur for answers from somebody else? -
I had some bad experiences with cops too.. One night I woke up at about 1AM when I realised the music stopped playing and then found out that I was locked in my room.. There were 3 of us and we passed out after drinking a lot.. And we managed to break the door n saw that my computer n DVD player worth 1.2 Lakhs was stolen... I went to the cops immediately n reported it.. I then remembered that we had 2 guys drinking with us who we met just 10 days ago through another friend and suspected him.. I managed to find his house n took the cops there.. n they seized the stuff.. I felt relieved that everything was okay now... I showed them my invoice of purchase n they compared the serial number n everything.. But they wouldn't give me my stuff just like that.. I now have to go claim it through court.. What a damn headache.. N 3 cops already took 5000 each from me and the lawyer took 7000.. only to find out that to be able to claim my items, I need to find someone as an "assurity" which means that he needs to have property or a governement job or something and just somebody working in the city will not do.. What nonsense is that, I don't understand?!?!?!?!?! I was from out of state and had no one to help me.. I ran around here n there for about a year and never got it n finally decided to let them shove it up their asses.. This was 3 years ago. But the guys who they busted paid money n were released. How convenient. So after all this ****, it was me who got screwed.

Speed Booster That Could Increase Rconnect Speeds
TCP/IP posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
A setup like the one above should increase internet speeds wouldn't it? I have no idea how much it costs though.. Has anyone used something like this? Total Cost : Approx $300 (Requires Antenna Adapter to be purchased. Available separately) <TOPIC MOVED!> -
Could you let us know if you were successful?
-
Note: I figured it was more appropriate to start a new thread as it deals with the purchase of a discontinued product rather than other technical details of the product. Sorry if this was not acceptable. I went to a store yesterday to buy a couple of dialup packs and they told me with all this money I'm spending on dialup accounts weekly, I'm better off buying myself a Reliance Connection as they're dealers of that as well so I told him I bought 2 RD2340 on which Rconnect was not working and I'm not interested to buy another phone again. I would have bought a Datacard if they still had it and he said he could get me one for 11000. I don't know if he is aware or not if the Sierra Wireless was still available but I assumed thats what he was talking about for that price. He said he would have to order it as it would be a rare ocassion when someone buys one of these. I'll be going there on Monday to order it. I asked if he has any idea if it was Sierra Wireless or the new asian card but he had no idea. Do you think Sierra Wireless would still be available at some places?
-
If you know someone who works for reliance, that might be possible. I read on this forum a couple of months ago that someone bought a sierra wireless card from the US and got it programmed for use with Reliance.
