That is because Docomo has tower sharing agreements with BSNL ... In CDMA, a minimum distance should be maintained b/w towers to avoid interference.. Thats why few (of the shared BSNL) towers have Docomo equipment only and not Indicom.. And CDMA towers usually have smaller height than that of GSM towers (some BPL <now Vodafone> towers are ridiculously HIGH when they were first launched here in Sivakasi, my home town)... If you have seen some towers with two or more equipments, the bottom most will definitely be a CDMA equipment... From my experience, TATA has excellent coverage with Nokia handsets (especially Nokia2865, 6585 and few low-end Nokias, than Nokia6265) only.. I can talk continuously in my 2865 with even one point of tower for long time, while travelling away from town without call drops (That is of-course also due to BREATHING-NETWORK quality of CDMA).. With my Huwaei, it is possible to 50% of distance only & SPICE (D88 Gold G+C) coverage is the worst.. very true. handsets also play a part in getting good coverage. i also experienced that my 6275 had better coverage than my 3600 in remote places where the signal was weak. i am also seeing better coverage in corby than LG.

i doubt whether this will happen as the phone assemblies (as well as most of the electronic goods) are generally outsourced to some contract manufacturing companies (to reduce the cost). some are good & some are so so. There are few established players in india which are used by companies like LG,motorolla etc. Most of these companies are available in China & hence we see lot of companies not just from India but from other places outsourcing it to china.

That was a typing mistake... it was supposed to be 23 hours this time when i charged it fully, battery lasted for about 22 hours with medium usage again (my medium usage means 2-3 hours of songs playback on earphone, 30 minutes of sending messages to friends. and 15-20 minutes call time... it may be considered heavy usage also.. ) Group sms is supported... just like other phones we can send msg to a group of contacts (groups can be created in phonebook) MTS's OMH sim not available in our area... 3 days ??? does it remain in standby mode all the time ?? or u use it also ?? Guys....i will have to take back my sentence on the battery life made earlier..only for the 1st charge i got 2.5 days.....now i am not even getting one day battery backup with full charge...that too, i only make or receive calls (not more than 60 mins of talk time). i neither play mp3 or fm nor browse....battery backup seems to be a major issue....added to it the charging time is very high ; close to 4 hrs...so, pls purchase this phone only if you are not worried abt battery backup... Hi, all of you guys, who own Corby speed, tell me one thing, did you charge your phone overnight for its initial charge? bcoz i have till date owned 3 Samsung mobiles and every time i brought a new one, the dealer told me to charge it overnight for its first charge, that increases your backup time. its bcoz the batteries that are shipped with the mobile are only charged 20-30% of their total capacity, so if you don't charge it overnight, it will damage the battery and you will experience low backup problems. hi, it is not only with Samsung, but all mobiles..the battery needs to be completely charged for 2~3 times to acheive its full capacity.that is why in my earlier post, i had mentioned to measure the battery life after few charges. overnight charging is not required, but full charging is required. even after this, i am experiencing less life.

thanks hitesh for the suggestion. only if i am able to charge the battery seperately, i will benefit from multiple batteries....one can be charged & the other one used in phone. if i am correct, universal chargers are the ones with multiple pins right...

i need to go with a higher capacity battery itself. i am not sure which one though that can be interchanged with this model... by the way is there any offline chargers available for these batteries.

yes sir....kya kare...phone ka naam speed hai..aur ham bhi speed hai.... both in purchasing & selling.. since i travel most of the times, i experienced with no battery charge at the end of the day..so this is making me very difficult to use this phone. i need to either keep it in home or sell it...

guys..anytakers for this phone. i am ready to give it to 8K - slightly negotiable (10 days old phone. i will also post it in the right forum.

Havent tried that bro... but i have one group having 25 contacts in it.. and havent created more new groups.. 7 groups were default available and those are more than enough for me yaar... Correct !!!!! each and every word is 100% correct... yes sir...now i am cursing myself for making the decision of taking this phone...i have totally lost interest in this phone due to very low battery backup...i dare not to touch the touch screen so that i get atleast one day charge...cannot even dream of travelling with this phone.... this has become a white elephant case...only good to see... atleast others can see the posts & take cautious decision in purchasing this phone...

i never understood this voice clarity thing....in my case i always found tht no one can give voice clarity as good as airtel.....i m using 1 airtel 1 reliance and 1 tata no... so clarity wise i ll put them in following order 1. airtel 2. tata (cdma) 3. reliance (cdma) in airtel u can listen the breath of other person whereas in reliance its worst u ll get voice with treble & bass....i dont know whats wrong with me but this is all of me n my frends experience....... people are with cdma due to thier low call rates not due to any technical advantage of voice(which i never found with cdma)... and whats the use of comparison if till now reliance or tata cannot deliver long msgs (msg with more thn 160 character) in once.... its just my thought...i never used data services on cdma it also depends on the handsets...if LG handsets like 3 series are used, the voice of the other person sounds slightly different...one may have to reduce the earpiece volume to get it right.. also, i was happy with my 6275 voice clarity which was good (i have not used handsets above that range). even i find Corby to be OK. the main advantage in CDMA (apart from data) is that there will not be voice breakage when the signal reception changes from tower to tower..and this is one of the main reasons why the call drops are less...(atleast in my case as compared to airtel)

i had completely charged two and half days ago...now 2 bars are there.. i would have spoken around 60 ~ 70 mins and sent quite a few sms + R&D of phone settings... so, under normal usage condition one should be getting 1.5 ~ 2 days of back up..but it would be better to check the battery life after few full charges. since the back light goes off almost instantaneously, the battery life is somewhat increased...

You're done thanks Pranav. i was able to remove the music player from the screen.. any idea how to increase the backlight time...screen automatically gets locked... to increase backlight time: menu->settings->display and light->backlight time..... select from 8 sec to 10 min whichever suites u.... if u dont want the autolock feature: menu->settings->touch panel-> turn auto lock to "off"......... thats it.... tried...but no luck..within couple of secs, the bright light changes to dim light (with screen lock) & then backlight goes off..

near basaweshwaranagar...he was having loads of it(diamond logo on throw away plastic) & charging Rs 100 per sim. he meant 2 logos on the same side....may be he was not very clear...anyways..what i understand by seeing the posts is that this is the same one which is used to be for accessing the data...so i will purchase one today/tomorrow.

In your attached pics, I didn't find OMH logo in the SIM. It's present only the throw-away plastic. Correct me if I'm wrong. i checked with WW guys near my home & they told that the sim (with diamond logo on the throw away plastic) is not the one for corby & there will be two logos...new news.... can any one using the diamond logo sim confirm this.... by the way, everyone calls this sim as "corby sim" rather than OMH sim...

yes..very true. many people do not know abt OMH. this is really hampering the growth of CDMA subscriber base.

i got this phone at 9K in bangalore yesterday. i need help on couple of points. * within couple of seconds of call connection, the phone's backlight is off indicating the screen is locked(unlike nokia where a dim backlight will be there throughout the conversation).. is there any means to keep it on atleast for couple of mins. i tried working on the backlight settings, but of no use. * also while doing R&D (first time using samsung phone), i got the music player menubar on the screen which i am not able to remove. can anyone tell me how to remove this.(i have attached the photo - not very clear)

any info on the charger output for this mobile. if it is same as that of 36 series (which is micro usb) , then we may have to charge the whole night to fully recharge the 1100 mah battery. My 3600 takes almost 5 hrs to completely charge the 950 mah battery. this is a major disadvantage during urgent recharging. is some rapid chargers (higher output) available for this type?

i too vote for RCDMA in terms of overall voice clarity & coverage. i have used airtel as well which is not very good voice clarity especially on the move with frequent call drops and cracks in voice. only issue in RCDMA is that the signal drops to min in the highways though voice clarity & reachability is not affected. this affects the battery life to some extent. However there are still some village areas in karnataka where RCDMA is not covered whereas all GSM including aircel is covered.

it is nice to see some good phones coming in CDMA. However, price of 10K is slightly too high. couple of thousand less with wifi could be a nice choice...

i think OMH refers to basically usage of data services/VAS. i have Reliance 6275 which works for TATA as well but only voice. SIM cards with diamond logo when used in OMH, data services/VAS can be accessed without any specific configuration..
