  1. Forum Software Upgraded to IP.Board 3.2

Once i go inside any thread, the look is refreshing.. but if i click View new content, the list of threads displayed - that part i find it Not ok. Too much space taken in left and right by other things which makes the actual thread list less important or make it go out of context a bit.. Somehow i dont like it.. Its my personal opinion.
  2. MNP Retention Offer You Received

I sent the msg to port my tamilnadu aircel postpaid number yesterday. Today got a call from an aircel office telling me to stay in aircel (that they will improve network) and he offered me 60% discount in rental of my postpaid plan for 3 months or 500 min free voice calls to any n/w for 3 months.
  3. As per ur partial list above u say bsnl works in unified license that means like what u have said above we must not get a roaming symbol when u travel inbetween chennai and RoTn. But the fact is v get roaming symbol for bsnl also. Initially bsnl, airtel, aircel, vodafone (then bplmobile / hutch) started with seperate licenses for chennai and RoTN.. They have different codes (like INA 40 / INA 94 (airtel)... diff. for chennai and RoTN). Even though their licenses could have been merged on paper i.e. on records, technically they r 2 diff. networks. So v will see roaming symbol. Whereas the new operators started for entire tn(incl. chennai) with a single network.. single code. So no roaming symbol. So what i come to say is there is no connection between the roaming symbol and unified license incase of older operators.
  4. Hi, Sorry to say.. Whatever is said above is purely crap. I have 2G bsnl sim (Tamilnadu). Migrated to 3G just by sending message. I am using the 2G sim in a 3G enabled handset. I AM ABLE TO DO AND RECEIVE VIDEO CALLS. So video calling is possible using 2g sim provided ur handset supports video calling (Some recent Nokia handsets support 3g but not video calling facility)
  5. In Tamilnadu, definitely BSNL 3G covers more places than EVDO.. this is true on paper.. Practically, inside the so called 3G covered areas, even inside chennai city, very very often the signal switches over to 2G because of very low signal strength.. But EVDO is great.. Wherever they say EVDO will work, there u will get 100% reliable EVDO service.. But 3G .. not reliable.. Easily switches over to 2G What I think is that .. BSNL has just fitted a 3G transponder in all its existing towers.. Thats all.. BSNL 2G operates at 900MHZ everywhere.. whereas 3G is around 2100 MHZ So the towers required to cover a similiar area compared to 2G is atleast triple the number... So definitely insufficient.. So EVDO is the bright choice.. Reliability wins..
  6. So far the best prepaid plan.. All local calls - Rs. 1 / 10 min All std calls - Rs. 3 / 10 min Roaming pulse rate - 60 sec as usual Starter pack - Rs.99 Validity - 10 years Catch is it can only be used with new handset bought through tata indicom distribution channels For first 15 days from activation : Pulse is 3600 sec (1 hr) i.e. for 1st 15 days, Local calls - Rs.1 / 1 hr and std - Rs. 3 / 1 hr May be they can giv such a plan becos Interconnect charges are calculated only on a per call basis.. Then other operators must be looting us.. Available in all circles (As per their site)
  7. In Chennai, Virgin mobile GSM sim card are availabe in shops.. But can not be activated yet.. Tariff details also not available.. Considering the fact that sim r already in shops, it is just a matter of 2 or 3 days for start of full fledged service.. Req. mod. to change topic title.. Not march 2010.. Def. Jan 2010 end
  8. Video calls will involve data also isnt it??? Voice tariff for video call may be 30p/min for local onnet.. But video transfer will involve data and hence will be costly if charged seperately.. Any idea if data involved for video calls will be charged extra or is that 30p all inclusive??
  9. MTS (Tamilnadu - dont know abt other circles) launched 2 new Msavers whereby v ccan get 1 sec pulse or 90 sec pulse Msaver 52 - 1 sec pulse - calls to MTS - 1p/2s, other local - 1p/1s, STD - 2p/s Msaver149 - 60 sec pulse - All calls at 49p/min Msaver 53 - 90 sec pulse - calls to MTS - 60p/180sec, Other local - 60p/90sec, STD - Rs.1.2/90 sec All the above Msavers come with lifetime tariff validity...
  10. Having 2 phones - One - Tata Indicom and another - Tata docomo would be an ideal combination. For all calls less than a min, docomo can be used. For calls more than a min, indicom can be used (Becos if we speak for a minimum of 2 minutes, v will charged Rs. 1 and that works out to 50p per min - which is the normal tariff v get with others - no loss, no gain) If v speak more than 2 min with indicom, its always gain Its been 2 days since the offer is announced.. still no replies frm other operators.. MTS have to announce somethng to match this atleast.. else they hav to shut shop
  11. Yes.. I do have pay per call tariffs after recharging with RS.96. I am using it in a Samsung OMH.
  12. If u get new sim and rechrg with 96, u will get same plan with OMH also. I am using it in my samsung OMH. Rechrgd old num with 96..
  13. In tata indicom site - under recharge vouchers, they have mentioned RCV 96 with 10yrs validity to shift to the pay per call plan.. That means existing cust or those with OMH can also benefit.. The pay per call starter pack is not yet available.. So thinking of buying a normal starter pack, put it in my OMH, then rechrg with 96.. Of course I am paying double the money.. but better than buying a new handset from tata indicom
  14. I beg to differ ur opinions.. Consider u have 1 (Only one or may be two) close gf or bf in other state u really want to talk daily... Of course i can change to MTS or virgin or tata docomo.. still with my existing provider, its a great offer
  15. Aircel Ul Net On Rs.14 Rcv

Aircel STVs works in computer also.. So must be a limited period offer.. Previously only airtel had unlimited gprs in prepaid (In tamilnadu) for 375.. They withdrew the offer.. In tamilnadu, Aircel started the battle again with Rs.14 & 98 STV.. Now vodafone offers unlimited browsing in Mobile phone for Rs.95 BSNL of course offers for Rs. 230 (cell and computer) Airtel offers NOP for 99Rs.. but thats only for postpaid
  16. Tata Docomo Launched

Poor start by Tata Docomo.. Its advertised everywhere and in their website that there is a STV of Rs.25 (Tamilnadu Circle) which gives a local onnet tariff of 1p/2S. It is not available anywhere in paper form. If I e-topup for Rs.25, I get equivalent talk time only. Poor start from DOCOMO
  17. Still mts ratecutte of 149 is for lifetime.. Unlimited calls and sms at 49p to any phone in india easily beats docomos cap of 450min/month for heavy std users if u choose to ignore the fact that its cdma...
  18. Tata Docomo Launched

Unlike other operators, Call barring facility in Docomo is working great with the default password of 1234
  19. Tata Docomo Launched

Really interesting GPRS in TATA Docomo.. Preactivated.. Works with any setting. Changed APN to 'airtelgprs.com' or 'airtel' or 'a'.. Whatever name u give for APN, it works.. Charging is done correctly 1p/1Kb. No need to worry abt settings.. Network is nice and stable in chennai and have travelled to south tamilnadu. Network coverage was ok.. Not perfect.. But great for a new entrant. No pblms till now. One thing.. Instant balance after call is not coming in RoTN.. Came in chennai
  20. Tata Docomo Launched

I saw MTS handsets in evey shop in my locality in chennai the day BEFORE it was launched. On the day of MTS launch, every shop had a MTS sign board with the shop name written and every shop sold handset and sim on the launch date. Ask MTS how to plan. Except that they choose CDMA... One more doubt.. What are the rate cutters in Tata Docomo for? Some one had mentioned in earlier posts.. May be right from launch, only if v use rate cutters, tariff is 1paise/sec.
  21. Bsnl : Postpaid -> Prepaid

In tuticorin, Tamilnadu I have converted post to pre. Just close postpaid and simultaneously give new form for prepaid stating that u want same number. Simple. Just 30 min job.
  22. Sistema Launch On Schedule

In chennai, mts handsets r available already in shops. Just waiting for launch.
  23. Virgin Mobile Card

Lots of thanks. That worked fine on my Virgin haier phone. Now its registered to reliance n/w. Thanks once again.
