3G May Roll Out A Host Of Critical Ailments
nayasaroj posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
While the 3G Launch of Major operators in India is just a couple of weeks away, we've got some bad news on 3G here. Once it's here, more than one crore people are speculated to use 3G and so are their brains to get damaged. Though the rest of the world has been exposed to these stronger radiations for years now, for India, it is now a new threat for us. Recent reports reveal that the population using 3G Services is likely to be affected by cancer and neuro-phsychiatric problems in the next two years due to exposure to harmful radiations, which are 20-15 percent stronger, with 3G coming in. Children below the age of 16 are the most vulnerable to this and are prone to brain cancer five times more than the adults, recent studies by the Electircal Engineering Department at Indian Institute of Technology reveal. And, children will be the most fascinated by video calling as soon as it's here, which leaves the worst choice for our Indian kids. They run the risk of developing neuro-psychiatric problems, including headache, memory loss, diz ziness, tremors, muscle spas ms, numbness, altered reflexes, muscle and joint pain, depression, and sleep disturbance. More severe reactions include seizures, paralysis, psychosis and stroke, says the study. The results of the study have been presented to the Telecom Department and no word from them have been received yet. SOURCE HERE -

source here Nokia India today unveiled its long awaited 2-in-1 dual SIM (GSM+GSM) mobile phone, Nokia C1 (C1-00) and Nokia C2 (C2-00). The two new devices, in the Nokia Cseries family, are available at very attractive and affordable price points and will address the consumer need for a Nokia phone boasting multiple sim functionality. Nokia C1 and Nokia C2 will enable users to take advantage of a rounded feature set including multiple phone book options, long battery life, large screen and local language interface. Unveiling the new devices, Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia said, “As per our deep consumer insights, entry level consumers need dual SIMs for various reasons including economizing time and costs, improving efficiency and for increased convenience. To address these consumer requirements, Nokia has launched these two devices that offer multiple SIM capabilities with a balanced feature set and ‘relevant innovations’ at affordable price points.” Nokia C1 will be available at an MRP of Rs1999 and will be the first Nokia mobile phone to feature a 2-in-1 SIM solution. Nokia C1 owners will greatly benefit from the ‘call divert’ feature in the new phone, which will ensure that they never miss a call from either of the two SIMs. Moreover, by simply holding down a key, people will be able to switch between the two SIM cards in the phone. Nokia C1 owners will also benefit from a standby battery time of up to six weeks, the longest ever for a Nokia mobile phone, especially useful in those parts of the country where access to electricity is sometimes limited. The standard flashlight – often someone’s only means of bright light – is paired with a vivid color screen and FM radio with standard headphone jack, meaning the Nokia C1 is as much about entertainment as it is about convenience. Nokia C2 comes with Nokia’s innovative services including Ovi Life Tools and Ovi Mail. Nokia’s Ovi Life Tools provides consumers a wide range of information covering healthcare, agriculture, education and entertainment, whereas Ovi Mail offers email accounts for the developing world. The Nokia C2 also makes listening to music simple with the FM radio and music player and a massive amount of music storage with the phone supporting micro-SD cards of up to 32GB.

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
nayasaroj replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Mobile Number Portability – A Quick Read! Back in the day’s people mostly used wire lines to communicate. It was noticed that customers never liked if they had to change there telephone numbers if they move from one place to other. The wireless industry was just picking up then Number Portability came making it possible for subscribers to move from one place to other, one service provider to other and one service to other without changing their telephone/mobile numbers. Number portability (NP) was designed for wire-line industry keeping the wire-less industry in view. There was need for additional technology to be in place for NP to operate. A number portability data base was created and all the subscriber numbers who have ported were stored in it. Since multiple operators are involved it was decided to bring in place a neutral vendor to manage and maintain this data base. In case of India it is Telecordia. The whole country was divided and zone and each zone had a NP data base. As in case of India its Zone2. All the service providers in the zone are required to have a connection to NP database so as to find out the call routing information for a subscriber. This was service is some thing similar to call-forwarding except that subscribers will not have to pay for the forwarding service. Subscriber in one zone can be easily ported from one service provider to other if NP database is updated. In our case, that is India, Telecordia is the neutral vendor. Zone 2 consists of following circles. • Kolkata • Tamil Nadu including Chennai • Andhra Pradesh • Karnataka • Kerala • Madhya Pradesh • West Bengal • Assam • Bihar • North East • Orissa Usually porting the number from one service provider to other should not take much time but a maximum of 2 days is assumed to be ok. Charges for NP should be bare minimum. In few countries NP is free! What this means to subscribers: – Freedom from changing their contact numbers if relocated, Freedom from service providers clutches, Easy access to various plans in other service providers. What this means to service providers: – More competition. Network overhead for call routing and numerous initial complaints! sourcehere -
