Hi friends... I have 2 gateways in my network viz ADSL & VSAT. For adsl, i have wifi router. Now, I want to use both the gateways simultaneously. For that, I have done below things. My VSAT gateway ip is 177.177.3.209/255.255.255.248 Accordingly, i had changed my router's lan ip to 177.177.3.210/255.255.255.248 PCs are from 177.177.3.211 to 214 / 255.255.255.248 & default gateway is 177.177.3.210 (adsl) Now, internet works flawlessly. Also, my applications that run on vsat access just 3-4 different ips. For that, i had made batch file in following format route add 162.50.50.2 177.177.3.209 where 162.50.50.2 is ip to be accessed thru vsat Till now, everything was working fine. I can use internet as well as my vsat based application both at the same time. Coming to problem, I have now increased no. of PCs in my office to 10 & also some IP devices like wifi camera n etc. But, I am unable to assign them IP address since as far as i have read, subnet 255.255.255.248 allows only 6 series of ip address. Now, I cant change my subnet as it has been assigned by my vsat provider HCL comnet. So, what other options are available to me??? I have 2 ideas in my mind but not sure how to do it n if it is possible or not. Idea 1. Set my adsl router as 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 n all PCs in range 192.168.1.2 n so on. Now, is there any setting in router which can route requests for 167.50.50.2 thru vsat as 2nd gateway??? I have read abt static route can do it but not sure how to do it... Idea 2. Set my adsl router as 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 n all PCs in range 192.168.1.2 n so on. Also, there are only 4 pcs which access thru VSAT. So put secondary IP in those pcs as 177.177.3.210 to 213 / 255.255.255.248. Even here, I am not sure how to proceed. Hope i have been able to explain the problem correctly n awaiting foolproof solutions. Thanks in advance..

Suggestions regarding Low Cost, Low Power small office server - thin client setup
hiteshkkk1 posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
Hello... Rajan bhai / other gurus, pls suggest me a good server config & thin client. Requirements: I need to connect 5-7 PCs thru RDP (in win7 - I have necessary cracks to enable multiple user RDP in win7). Each terminal will connect to this server & their use will be Word Excel (Heavy use, our sheets contain lot of data and some files are even upto 17-18 mb in size.) Browsing Stock Market Backoffice software (DOT NET based - Very less resources hungry) ODIN Terminal (Stock market trading software - Very resource hungry - at any given time, uses around 150-200 mb of memory) I have some configurations in my mind. Pls suggest changes if any. Server CPU/Board - Core i7 with intermediate board having atleast 4 slots for RAM. Any comments n brands pls suggest. Also, cud have selected XEON but I read it does not support Hyper Threading. Also for Win7 I feel i7 wud be good. RAM - initially 8gb & if reqd, upgrade to 16gb. Pls suggest brands / other parameters like fsb n all. Storage - 80GB Intel SSD & if budget permits, one more SSD on RAID1 (Win7 based OS RAID). IF budget doesnt, then any 500gb HDD with day end backups. Cabinet - Considering temperature in jalgaon, it goes around 48-50 deg in summers + 8-9 hours of power cut so needs good ventilation & fans, if any should be silent & of course should not dig hole in pocket. SMPS - Dont have much idea on it. But suggest based on fact that I plan to keep this server up 24x7, should not be noisy. Thin clients Atom based 512mb ram 512mb IDE DOM ITX cabinet DC-DC smps (pls throw some light on this as never used it - primary reason is power saving) SUSE Linux to use terminal services. No native use of this pc. I have thought of finalizing this one Apart from this, i have 2 ideas for software: 1. Install Win7 on server & directly access it thru RDP in suse linux. Pros - Easy installation. Cons - For ODIN, i need each client to use it on different PC bcoz if ODIN is used by 3 users all of them technically use it on same PC but different RDP session & when we close ODIN, it takes auto backup which gets over written when all 3 of them will close. Though this is not of top priority but still if can be solved then good. or 2. Install VMWARE ISX on server & make 5-7 virtual pcs & access them thru RDP in suse linux. Pros - Each thin client will use different VM. Cons - Installation seems to be difficult. Never used it. Would be happy if someone can shed light on it. One more option is, in Case no. 1, can install win server 2008 on server & install VMWARE Workstation & then make 5-7 Win7 based VMs but not sure if it can give sufficient performance or not. I need as good as native pc performance on thin clients. Hope to get some inputs from gurus. Mods can make it a new post if required as this is a kind of combination which many small offices can use & save lot of power, especially in maharashtra where there are lot of power cuts. In this combination, my thinking is, if i use Server + 7 thin clients, i will require not more than 700-800 watts of power. Where as, if i just use 7 full fledged PCs, then it will consume around 1500 watts. (all watts are including 25watts for LCD Monitor) -

Suggestions regarding Low Cost, Low Power small office server - thin client setup
hiteshkkk1 replied to hiteshkkk1's topic in General Technical Discussion
Finally I have marched ahead in my experiment & below are my findings... System config: Core i3 with Intel P55TC board (it is 1k costlier than gigabyte but has dual display which i needed) - 9700/- Kingston 1333mhz DDR3 RAM 2gbx2 - 3900/- Intex Cabinet - 500/- Coolermaster 400w power supply - 2000/- (its really silent) DVD Writer LG - 950/- 500gb Seagate - 1850/- (bought 2 months back) 1. Installed ubuntu 64bit desktop edition. (Tried server edition but seems its setup is not gui so i didnt take much efforts & settled down for desktop) 2. Installed Virtual Box OSE thru ubuntu software manager. 3. Installed Win 7 on 1 of the VM created with 800mb ram & 20gb hdd. 4. Setup was breeze & infact win 7 ran smoothly with all my softwares. Could even access this win7 from other pcs on network thru RDP which is the main thing i needed. Even that was breeze. 5. Cloned VDI of this VM just by making its one more copy & changed it UID thru "vboxmanage internalcommands" command in windows. Actually since i m a noob for linux, i was not able to run terminal in virtualbox folder in linux so copied vdi in windows, mades its copy there & changed its UID & re-copied in linux & then made a new VM with HDD as this new cloned VDI. 6. 2nd VM also started (1st was shut down). I changed its PC name & other conflicting parameters & then started both of them together. Still no issues. 7. Did this for 3rd & 4th too. Till 3rd, it was going smoothly with 80% ram utilisation. Once started 4th, 95% ram was utilised & it seemed that I had raped the system. Even the mouse pointer would not move as max ram was used by these 4 pcs & nothing was remaining for host pc resources. Ultimately i had to restart the pc. 8. I modified ram to 600mb for all the pcs & restarted all the 4 simultaneously. Now all 4 pcs were running perfectly with ram utilisation of 80%. Now, main stress test would be to put all this 4 pcs to use by my staff for routine work & will do it on monday. These would be accessed by RDP. Seems I can settle down to this system. Also, I have 2 ram slots free so that I can upgrade to 4gb more if required. I have some doubts & m sure my gurus will have the answer. 1. Even when RAM utilisation was 80-90% CPU utilisation was hardly 15-20%. Why this happens?? Is it because I just started this 4VMs but didnt do any work on them. Infact, I never even heard CPU fam's speed getting increased due to load. It was calm at around 1-1.5k rpm. 2. If there is so much unutilised power in CPU, then I can even upgrade the RAM to max supported of 16gb & run around 10-11 Pcs with 1 GB ram each. In that case, will processor be raped?? 3. In above system, are there any modification required like change of OS or change of VM software to vmware or esxi or xen or any other thing which can give even better performance?? 4. I have to buy one more such pc for my single use. So, should i opt for core i5 for this server & put core i3 in my system?? I mean increasing cpu capacity will make any visible difference?? if not, then even my I will go with i3. Once I am comfortable with this setting, I will continue with this & for accessing this VMs thru RDP, I have my existing ncomputing setup which as of now is being used for all the work but as i said in my earlier posts, i need seperate pcs for all the staff due to multiple instance issues of odin n other softwares so this virtual thing. One more possibility is instead of accessing these pcs thru RDP, I can install ncomputing in this system itself in ubuntu (if i find the drivers.. havent checked yet) & once linux is loaded immedly staff can start their own VM. Hope my experiment is helpful to others & I would be glad to answer queries to any other members wanting to implement this. Also, gurus, thanks for ur support till now & expecting same in future. -

Hey friends... if you check this link now, http://pages.ebay.in/diwali/ for purchase above 19999/- ebay has changed ipod shuffle from 4gb to 2gb. In parins post, it is ipod shuffle 4gb & code is XXXX10 & now on site it is XXXX13. Seems ebay has received great response... Now, best part is, even XXXX10 is working & gift name is ipod shuffle 4gb. I did order one samsung laptop worth 24.5k & applied XXXX10. Other people do note this & apply 10 instead of 13 & get 2 more gb :-)- 6,376 replies

Please suggest Scanner/Printer For Home Use
hiteshkkk1 replied to kkdeep's topic in General Technical Discussion
If you print atleast 2-3 pages every 8-10 days, it wont give you any problem... For me, I use it to even photocopy so printing is there every 2-3 days. One more thing... You can check for epson inkjet mfp. Those are best compatible with CISS. I have my friends using them for years & just filling ink in the tanks. Just search CISS in ebay.in you will get supported models. Seller inkshop is really reliable n helpful & product quality is excellent. -
