Moto droid (Verizon) activation on TATA is poss?

Hi.. One of my friend in US is planning to buy LG Ally for Verizon.. Wanted to know if it can be activated on TATA / Reliance in India or not as he is planning to come back in December... I wanted to know handset part... Getting MEID activated on TATA I will handle that part...(in case it is MEID based). Thanks in advance..

Hi... Checked ur links.. Do note, even though the sellers have worldwide shipping, but still, u will have to go through all custom hassles in India. You can better try to get the same through ebay's global easy buy (www.ebay.in/geb). They quote all inclusive rates including shipping n customs. I got battery for my Dell Lat D630 the same way just for 2k & quality is really good. Also, ur transaction on GEB is protected by ebay's paisa pay so you dont have to worry. Hi friends... Wanted to know if I can connect my landline phones or one of my EPABX extension to VOIP. An example scenario would be:- I can connect my office extension to PC through PCI Modem or any other suggested hardware. Now, I want to attend the calls at my Jalgaon office on that extension through VOIP sitting in Pune with the help of broadband. Infact, I should also be able to dial out through VOIP using that extension so that I can talk to my office staff or even dial out side line & pretend that I am calling through my office. I cant find any workaround for the same on net.. Any help (of course low cost / DIY) on the same would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

In Kerala MTS is not using the network of TATA INDICOM or RELIANCE because in some places MTS has full signal strength where Tata or Reliance has no signal. if mts have it's own network in kerala, then why will it go for sharing??? HE is talking about tata network while roaming, not in home circle Its wont be exactly like that... I mean, suppose you are using MTS in Pune. Maybe you will get MTS signal in Kothrud but in case if you go to Satara Road & if MTS signal is not present, the device will hook on to TATA. I am not sure about it... But this would be the case I guess.. Also, as KAPILDEV said his town is getting MTS signal & there is no TATA & Reliance, its quite possible as MTS is using TATA only for places where it is not having tower... On a sarcastic note, TATA/Reliance can borrow signals from MTS in your town Some of you must be aware of Videocon doing the same for Voice in Mumbai..

Just loaded TATA PRL on HTC Diamond. No EV symbol yet as EVDO still not started in our city.... Will check when I happen to visit Pune / Mumbai / Nasik & post... Edit: If I get EV Symbol & if my EVDO is active, will I get EVDO speed for data or not?? Are there any settings??

I think it is not for all circles. Maharashtra & Goa is not showing the same plans. TATA (Indicom or Docomo) Maharashtra & Mumbai will always have different plans than Rest of India... The main reason for the same is TTML (Tata's Maharashtra arm) is a Listed company & hence any step they take will affect directly on their stock. There are many other plans too which are present in all states except Mum & Maha. Lets see when this discrimination ends...

I think they are using TATA Indicom's network for the same... My friend in TATA told me that for Voice they will be using TATA's network but now seems they will use it for 1X too.. Anyone having confirmation on the same??

One thing I want to know that if I wish to download some software for PCLOS, which package shud I select i.e. .deb or .rpm or so?? Also, if I dnload the package, how do i install it??

Thanks bro for quick n detailed reply... I have already installed wine. Will learn more on winehq. Regarding voice logger, the usb device will not be installed on this (linux) pc as it is already installed on other pc in network & will be there. The client works through network & i tried starting it in wine. Some thing happened & disappeared & Intclient.exe did not start. I dont think odin will run on wine as it needs some supplements like Visual C++ redist.... n also there are many registry specific issues. I will better run it on linux thru Windows Remote Desktop. That will be better. Regarding EXT2/3 & IFS i am not aware of it anything as of now. Will learn that too n implement. Apart from that, Linux is really very fast & hope virus free. Atleast I can start allowing my friend's pen drives now.

Finally installed PCLOS KDE on my Dell Latitude D630... Trying to get used to it... I have some sites which need IE. Is there any solution for the same?? Apart from that, I have some applications which need to be run on windows. I will try it on wine & post my comments. In the mean time, any help on the same will be appreciated. Apps on windows are :- 1. I have a voice logger which is installed in my office. Though the USB hardware for the same is on other pc running XP, i have one client running on my Windows 7 pc. Can that client be run on PCL or wine?? It accesses data from server over lan. I am not sure of ports. Also, the client is EXE based. 2. I am a stock broker so many of u wud be knowing ODIN which is used for trading. Can it be run on PCL?? 3. Office 2010 (will try in wine) Thanks in advance..

The problem was, I was trying the code from my different ebay id & the code I received was for my wife's id. Thanks for help..

Hi.. got my TATA OMH Sim today.. Will post my story for others... I had my number on HTC Diamond. My diamond was configured by MEID & not E$N cloning & all stuff... This was around 6-8 months back. Actually this is not easily possible but still since I have good relation in TATA, they did it for me. At that stage, my HTC's MEID was configured as OMH in their system. So, now when I got my number transferred from HTC to to regular SIM, it was not going through as their system doesnt allows transfer from OMH to NON OMH (as i said earlier, my meid was configured as OMH). So, I had to necessarily buy OMH SIM. He raised SR for OMH Ruim to OMH Ruim. Once that was done, I had to do *228 for OTA. Now, the main problem was OTA for OMH cards can be done only on OMH handsets. I tried *228 from Samsung FCH679 but failed. Then I got Corby from one of my friend & did *228 & the number was transferred. Other great thing.. Once done, my HTC was now without any number. I wanted to transfer my wife's number on it. He raised SR for ESN change & again entered my HTC's MEID. since it was already in their database, it went through easily. Then I got the MIN no. & did necessary change in MDN & MSID in HTC's ##778# menu. After soft reset, my Wife's number was on my HTC... All this was done in less than an hour.. Everything done as per my expectations & using my TATA (OMH Sim) on Samsung FCH - 679 ( NON OMH).
