Hello All, I, like many other people, have been entering contests on the RWorld for some time now. But, I have never seen anyone winning there or getting a prize? Is it really a contest? Has anyone won yet? Rajat

WHAT !!!!! Just 28 signatures. Thats it. Why? What happened? I expected to see atleast 100 signatures there. Are there so less DAPO users? If yes, then we r gone. No body is going to listen to just 28 users. Guys, please please do sign it. For my part, I will inform all my friends who are DAPO users to go to this link and sign it. BTW, nice initiative. I really admire you guys. Great job.

Difference Between Usb And Serial Connection
rajatng replied to prakashkadam's topic in Technical / OS related
The two connections are really quite different at every level. Serial ports go back to the first PCs and provided transfer rates of 1 bit at a time(serially). A serial cable therefore has as little as two wires(one data and one ground if you only want to send data in one direction). USB (Universial Serial Bus) is an improvement on the original RS-232C serial port in that it is MUCH faster. Also, multiple serial devices can share the same bus by being "daisy chained". That is one device plugs into the computer, the next device plugs into that device, etc. In practice, however, this is generally limited because the bus can only supply power for limited number of devices. Also, Windows has been programmed to automatically detect when devices are added or removed from the bus. That makes it especially useful for devices like digital cameras that may only be connected to the computer long enough to download pictures to the hard drive. There are, however, converters that will allow you to connect different kinds of devices to the various kinds of ports. For example, Belden makes a parallel to USB converter (and software drivers) that allows parallel port printers to be connected to a USB port on a computer. -
I was talking about this situation when I have an STD or an ISD number entered as an emergency number. Although, I do agree no one would like to take panga with Police and dial there numbers unnecessarily. Infact, this is the reason I still have the original numbers as my emergency numbers. But, I guess if I am in an accident or something bad (god forbid), I would like to contact my family first and they will take care of whom to call next. Can someone pls confirm if this is so. I think emergency numbers can be dialled even if you dont have any charge in your card. Then, how can they deduct something?
-
Yes, I have LG RD2030 and I can save any number I want as my emergency number. I have saved my local home number and tried dialing it. It did go through. But, I have not tried this by using an STD number. Can I save any STD/ISD number also as an emergency number and dial it when required? Now my question. If the above is true, then who will get charged for it? If I use a prepaid and dial an emergency number. But, say I do not have any currency left in my card. Then, who will get charged for my personal STD/ISD emergency number? Who will pay for this? And If I get charged for it... Then this is a security issue. Cos, now anyone can dial my emergency number even when I have my phone in locked mode or a password protect mode. So, I may get charged for the calls that I have not made at all. In my case, even when I can change the security numbers, due to the above mentioned doubts, I have not changed them and kept the default ones. Rajat

They r not taking any more free registerations. Just paid ones.

I think you can register any number as your emergency number. Also u just dial the number normally. I guess these numbers will be connected even if your mobile is in locked mode or your outgoing calls disabled. Guys, please correct me if I am wrong.

Ric Awarded Most Promising Service Provider Award
rajatng replied to Chirag's topic in Reliance Communications
I guess I read this somewhere. A good comment was posted on this article there. It was something like .... They definately deserved this. After all they were... Most Promising...Nothing delivered. -
Sanjeev, What is your current software version? And nice avtar, dude.
-
So, if Rel also changes the number to 10 digits, then do I have to inform everyone of my changed number? ...... Or Rel will automatically forward all my calls to the new 10 digit number?
-
As far as I remember, this problem was present in the older versions also. I had noticed this when I got the phone last year in March. Even that software had this problem. Now, I am using version 15. I do agree with it that this is definately a problem. But, I wont call this a bug. This is more like a designing issue.

I dont think she ever agreed that she is from Reliance. We just assumed it cos she was providing information which seemed like ... internal. But, then she might be getting those letters and info from friends or relatives working within relience.

Yes. I also do fully support Aruns decision in this regard. But, the idea for a legal disclaimer can be looked upon. I tried loading the pages after removing the cache from my browser. Even then, the old stylesheet was faster. Love the old look.

We can upload our own avtars. They are Oh! so cool. Sunil, I have changed my avtar. Liked it!!!
-
hi sunil, I have been playing with different avtars or some time now in this forum. And frankly speaking, this is one that I liked. It shows you as someone who is cool and confident. I will see if I can get another good avtar. For the time being, pls bear with me over this. And I do agree. There is definitely a need for more avtars. Rajat

Rail Bookings On Rworld By Www.irctc.co.in
rajatng replied to niket's topic in Reliance Communications
Why does'nt Reliance create Location Dependent Services (LBS). If this service is available in only 3-4 cities, then why show such a menu to the whole world? LBS is quite easy to create and RIM does have the necessary information in database for this. Just show the menu depending on the users current location. Even I tried using this service and was surprised(??) at why I didnt work. At the time, I thought that this is also in beta stage as is everything in RIM. Thought that maybe it will start working when I check it again after a few days. Thanks Chirag for this information or else I would have checked this every 2-3 days for the status of my train tickets. -
Sorry Radha. I was not getting personal. Sorry, if it came out that way. I was talking about that letter... world class service... from reliance??? Now, this is something which I cant very easily believe. But as ashokjp said, lets hope they give some respect to customer issues and try to solve it instead of just sending messages to employees and customers. Sorry if I have offended you. Please dont take it the wrong way. You are doing a great job by posting items and opinions here. Keep it up.
