Please Suggest Me a CDMA Phone With MP3 Player Around Rs.3000
Karthik R replied to rvksp's topic in Handset Suggestions
Your present RUIM is compatible with OMH handsets and will work fine - in the sense you will be able to use the basic call and texting functions. OMH (Open Market Handset) card, which will cost you Rs.100, is for provisioning Data setting like EVDO and operator content on your phone. If do not intent to make use of data, go ahead with the present one! -

TATA Teleservices Coming Up With WiFi Hub
Karthik R replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
This one is similar to the Mobile WiFi R201 launched last month by Vodafone (carries a price tag of 5500 bucks). Only difference/advantage of Tata's offering is that, it is dual mode in the sense Photon plus RUIM card can be interchanged with the GSM 3G SIM card to access both EVDO and HSDPA. Kesav would have been excited if he was around here now -
Gender Biased Laws - Truth, Use, Misuse And Our Role
Karthik R replied to kshah's topic in The Lounge
Dear Kshah, I am deeply moved on reading your story posted in the other forum. Going through a divorce can be such an ordeal. Some people make the mistake of thinking of it as a mere legal procedure, when it is really much more of an emotional battle than anything else.. I want you to know that I understand what you are going through and that you have my sympathy and support. It takes bravery, courage and strength to get through a divorce and you are gifted with all three. Keep fighting. Please remember that you are in my thoughts during this difficult time and I pray that you and your son will get through this sad chapter pretty soon. Regards. -

Nokia 6275 is only a 1x data capabale phone i.e it supports data speeds peaking at 144 kbps (in practice speed hovers around 60-80 kbps). EVDO is the CDMA counterpart of 3G data transmission and supports downlink speed upto 2.4Mbps (Rev.0) or 3.1Mbps (Rev.A). You need to go in for handsets like Samsung galaxy Pop, Corby TV, Mpower txt M369, Lg cookie 510, Lg 6300 to enjoy EVDO speeds.

Are there any applications, wifi, bluetooth, data connection running in the background? How is the network strength at your place. (Although largely out of the individual user’s control, your phone's signal strength greatly affects standby time. If your phone is out of service, or has a very weak or intermittent signal, it is forever trying to establish a new or better one, meaning its using lots more power than if the signal is at full strength.)

Port Back Offers/Plans For Coming Back To Reliance GSM
Karthik R replied to narinderji's topic in Miscellaneous
I think this is the first case reported where an ex-operator pursues a subscriber to return to its fold after the mandatory 90 days! Did you leave Reliance GSM due to network related issues? If so do check whether they are resolved or still persists. @Mods cant we merge this topic with the thread - MNP Retention Offer You Received. -
LG Optimus 2X Android With Tegra 2 Processor
Karthik R replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other handsets
The major attraction of the LG Optimus Black is the newly introduced Nova mobile display. LG claims that display is the brightest display in the world with up-to 700 cd/m2. That figure looks great when compared with 500 cd/m2 Retina display and 300 cd/m2 AMOLED display. The Nova display also provides up-to 50% more battery life than the traditional smartphones using LCD panels. -
I second the views expressed here.. GSM is indeed a hassle free technology (now I didnt say better!) nonetheless it will be wiser to wait for some more time before shifting as their network and operations are yet to mature.

The main con was stated as poor display and meagre screen resolution of 240x320. Battery life too seems strained. I am looking for more user reviews before taking the plunge.

Reliance GSM - Problems ! Problems ! & Problems!
Karthik R replied to ipkonfig's topic in Miscellaneous
I like the older ones featuring Hrithik Roshan for simple reliance tariff plans, where he turns Pied Piper.. Reliance should be aware that adverts can only provide the initial push in the market and that for long term success, adverts should be matched by good service also. -
BSNL Provide EVDO In SIM
Karthik R replied to me_saket's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
My search for BSNL RUIM during the month of jan was largely futile. I had gone through their offices at Pattom and the one opposite old Secretariat (tvm). There one guy seemed so convinced that cdma and gsm are the same and tried to trick me into buying their 3G SIM! Such misinformed staff - just imagine their respone if we contact them for technical assistance like for activating foreign handset in their network dropped the plan to migrate then and there itself. Since no living soul that I know of is using this cdma offering from bsnl, I wont be capable of passing judgement on their coverage or network quality. It is claimed to be available throughout Kerala..
