TDSAT Directs TRAI To Rework Telecom Interconnect Charges
Karthik R replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
QUOTE from the above article - ...New entrants such as Unitech, Etisalat, Sistema and Videocon said they were shocked that TRAI had cut termination charges by only 33% and added that it was "too little to create a level-playing field with existing operators". Mr Raja has since maintained that a further reduction in termination charges was vital towards ensuring his dream of consumers enjoying local calls at 10 paise/minute and STD calls at 25 paise. So far, large GSM operators had strongly opposed any further reduction in termination charges as they feared that this would further impact their revenues and profits.... -

The tariff mentioned above isnt exactly tempting. But it will be interesting to see how this works out It will be like buying rice for home plus talktime to us. Should keep my eyes open in BIG Bazar from now on. -

We still need IE for viewing banking and other govt. websites as they are tweaked that way. -

Karthik R replied to faizone's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
You think they could stop putting these experts on the news with their doomsday scenarios of how the terrorists might attack us? Because you get the sense they're coming up with ideas that these people haven't thought of themselves!! LOL. Instead of chasing situations that might arise in future the Govt. should keep their guards on the obvious, India-Bangladesh border through which thousands of illegal immigrants and would-be-terrorists enter freely every year! -

You can install and start using Chrome extensions without restarting your browser!! But at the end of the day, Firefox still is the king of extensions. -
Internet Explorer Market Share Dips Below 50 Per Cent

Unlike Firefox, of which I am wary of in this regard, Chrome isolates tabs into separate processes so if one tab crashes, your browser still stays up -
Alternatively you can also check out the Samsung Muzik 219 phone which comes @ Rs.2900. It got 2gb external memory support, bluetooth, VGA cam and looks better too
-
Had used this phone for a week and found that the 1300mAh battery it carries to be extremely good The keypad may take some time to get used to. And as discussed above, every man on the streets claims its memory can be extended but let me tell you that you are pretty much struck up with the internal memory of 2.5mb which is really a let down Overall a good option to go for if you are looking at a entry level one.

BSNL & Uninor as 2nd & 3rd Best Performers Of August 2010
Karthik R replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
I think Uninor will be among the first to sell out once consolidation begins in the market. Their ARPU is among the lowest and recently there were reports that the parent company, Telenor is pissed off with the Indian operations they must have hoped to fill their kitty with money just like Vodafone does here. Uninor denied such reports btw -

3G for BSNL and 24x7 dynamic discount on 1sec/1p for Uninor did the trick And this reinforces my earlier comments that we should not completely write off BSNL. -

Your signature makes that evident It is a statement against all who conspire to pull down the CDMA. But Nokia is something different right. It is the world's largest manufacturer with more than 32 per cent market share. On a closer note, all of us had used a nokia device at some point of time right. They would have come up with awesome models and roped in more more users. Just think of a N-series or E-series in CDMA
-
Would have been awesome if Nokia was in the CDMA segment in India along with Samsung. We would have been pampered with choices!! So much for money hungry Qualcomm's royalty :@
