Had read somewhere that the Call termination charges were Rs.2 per min. in Pakistan. It was reduced to Rs.1.25 in 2008 Compare this with INDIA! :D

The termination charges should be fixed at 10p - 15p from the current 20p. We shouldnt pray for anything further as the network will DETERIORATE then. The call rates in India are already among the lowest in the world at less than $0.01 a minute and the Operators are under immense pressure. Such drops will be suicidal for all.

I face the same problem with R GSM at times. But in my case it is not limited to any particular operator. Really gets on my nerves when it happens.

There were a dozen high level meeting where Reliance asked them to lower hand set price and reduce the royalty. Money hungry Qualcomm didnt budge. The then IT minister Maran tried to break the deadlock but with no vail. The year 2006 was the determining moment.

Bsnl guys knows well enough that they dont stand a chance in a light year when other Operators lauch their respective 3G service. So they are trying to garner as much as they can anyway nice move.

@All There are well more than a 100 recharge shops in my city (tvm). But only 2 of them have MTS cards/erecharging facility all the time. Others just put up their eye catching white 'anda' hoarding (which is provided for free) and laughs us off if we ask for MTS. And as for exclusive MTS store, it is 15km from home! Compare this with Tata Indicom which has 12 exclusive stores in a 8km radius. Anyone facing the same difficulty?? MTS have to improve the availability and distribution not to mention the network!

Even though Virgin is sharing TATA teleservices's tower and network, there isnt many retail outlets or recharge shops dealing in them. Should improve on the availability first! (maybe this shortage or lack lusture distributionship is limited to Kerala alone.)

In general, videocon mobiles s**ks big time. It is as if they are buying cheap chinese phones and rebranding them as videocon :/

oops! I guess you guys wont buy my story then I had recharged my DoCoMo with 96rs. to avail the 6GB gprs offer. Everything went fine till the data useage exceeded 2GB 'cos after that they charged me @ 10p/50kb. I was totally unaware of the folly and went with ahead my browsing/downloading. After some time on disconnecting from the net, I was up for a shock as rs.66 was deducted from my balance. I was so pissed off and was going to call their customer care in some time. But before that i got a SMS from them stating that they had undergone some technical problem and that they are crediting my account with rs.66 ''AS A TOKEN OF GRATITUDE'' YEP! those were the very words that they used. LOL

@razortooth yeah! You need to have 3 months billed before you can convert Vodaphone post paid to prepaid. This kind of lock down period varies with operator. For instance, it is 6 months for TATA! Also be forewarned, the transition wont be a smooth one as they hate to do this.

They are also offering 2gb data useage free for the 1st month with new connections of R GSM in Kerala. I had seen a big hoarding in a major junction of the city.

Data Charges after Free Usage are 2p/kB. The New GPRS Recharge available on paper and vtopup. - While Idea Cellular’s Prepaid subscribers in Mumbai circle can opt new GPRS Pack at Rs. 5 for daily Internet access which gives upto 70 MB of usage. Idea subscribers in Mumbai can activate it by dialing *777*1046#. Rs. 5 will be deducted from the prepaid account. The GPRS packs will works on Mobile Phone as well as browsing through PC or Laptop. Idea Cellular also revised its existing GPRS packs of Rs. 98 and Rs. 13. The Pack of Rs. 98 will provide Internet browsing and Downloads up to 2GB without any daily usage capping (Data Transfer) for 30 days from the date of recharges. The main reason cited for the delay was inability of the Service providers to prepare an infrastructure required for such an implementation. But this time the Department of Telecom (DoT) has made it clear to all telecom operators that in case they fail to implement MNP as per the scheduled deadline, they will be barred from launching any new commercial services from Sept 1. Should it ring any alarm to the service providers???
