  7. MNP Retention Offer You Received

After having given the porting request for my Reliance CDMA number, I got a call today with these three plans: DSGlobal 199 (plan already explained by Rajan Mehta MNPC99 (also expalined in this thread) MNPC 149 ..... I have opted for this plan. Rental is 149 + they will charge me 94 for my data. Rs.50 talktime (local, STD), 300 mns local, 200 sms. Local call rate 30p, STD call rate 50 p. Seems like a plan that suits me.

  9. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

I am driving a Skoda Rapid Diesel. Bought it in Feb 2012. Cost me Rs.9.10 lakh on road. Biggest boot ever. Very sturdy car, spacious interior, comfortable and smooth drive. Definitely worth considering.
  10. @ Babajee. Very disappointing to hear that the Mac deal was fake. Was actually looking forward to hear your hands on comments after the purchase. Damn!! Anyway, back to work on my Windows!!

You were correct Hitesh. It is a listed plan. Anyone who has got hold of a good Airtel broadband retention plan recently, please share. Thanks
  12. AirTel new Broadband plan

Very strange. I was offered this as a retention plan. I'll check it out. Thanks Hitesh
  13. AirTel new Broadband plan

    This is a retention plan.
  14. AirTel new Broadband plan

No. Speed goes back to 512. I checked. Even the name of the plan mentions that.
  15. AirTel new Broadband plan

Till two months back I was on the Airtel Rapid 15 GB 1299 (8 mbps / 512 kbps) Combo plan with fixed rental of Rs.1299 + tax. Also I got 1000 minutes free for local calls. Local outgoing - 0.6 / 60 STD outgoing (intra circle) - 0.6 / 60 STD outgoing (outside circle) - 0.75 / 60. Given my heavy download activities, I used to consume the 15 Gb limit in under 7 days and then used to slog the rest of the month with a 512 kbps speed. So, I called up the Customer Care and asked for disconnection of my number and they offered me this retention plan. Unlimited Voice 1149 30 GB (2 Mbps / 512 kbps) Combo DSL plan Local outgoing - 0.0 / 60 STD outgoing (intra circle) - 0.75 / 60 STD outgoing (outside circle) - 0.75 / 60. Now, instead of the free 1000 local minutes, all the local calls were free. Though now my speed for the 30 Gb had reduced to 2 mbps, it still was a decent speed and 15 Gb had doubled to 30 Gb, which was a great advantage now. IMO, this is a great plan for Airtel Combo DSL users. Enjoy!!
  16. Try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.naresh.utility.auto.onoff Thanks for the link Hitesh. But this app only puts the phone in airplane mode and brings it out of airplane mode at a scheduled time. In fact, all such similar apps do the same thing. I'm looking for something which will completely power down the phone and power it back up at a scheduled time.
  17. In the earlier versions of smartphones, there was an Scheduled Auto Power On / Off feature in Settings. Not sure about the other current smartphones, but the Samsung Epic 4G Touch does not have that feature. I need a setting / app that powers down the phone at night completely and powers it back up in the morning at a scheduled time. This is needed to save on battery and make sure the Alarm goes off. Any suggestions??

  19. Your Latest Hardware Purchase

@Babajee. Macbook pro (w/o retina display). Seems like a very good deal for Apple starters, but my friends are saying don't go for it. I'm a noob where tech is concerned. Please give me solid good reasons to buy this coz I'm very interested. Reasons which will shut them up. Thanks.
