There are other more popular cloud services available. Googe Drive with 5GB Microsoft SkyDrive with 7 GB and Drop Box with 2GB. There is a detailed article with comparison of all these in the June edition of the Digit mag.

That was very informative. Thanks, Karthik.

Imported CDMA Handsets - Is It Worth The Efforts?
thilak.kmb replied to ::: VA :::'s topic in The Lounge
I use Reliance on HTC EVO and MTS on Samsung Corby. Due to the nature of my daily activity I cannot use EVO as my regular phone. (Now I use it only on Sundays and when I go outstation.) That leaves me with Corby. Unfortunately MTS data could not be activated on this and I decided to go for a GSM number. Got a number of my choice from BSNL from their website offer and activated it. Searched for a good and cheap non android phone. Bought this from ebay (It was cheaper than the present rate). The phone serves me two purposes. A cheap HS with all the features. Activation was not a problem when compared to the struggle I had with my EVO. But still I thank this forum for the help I got. The frustration of not getting data on Corby made me go for a GSM HS. There it was giffy. Now I got the idea of why many average people prefer GSM. They say the reason for not getting data on Corby MTS is MNP. I stopped bothering with this. -

Problem with PC - Reboots when I try to enter OS
thilak.kmb replied to tanveer's topic in General Technical Discussion
Since it is a dual boot there should be a grub. It may be that there is some problem with the grub. I think you can go for a new grub. -
It is a pity that LG has stopped manufacturing low end CDMA phones. I am still using one RD2030. In these days of short life handsets LG would have made a lot of difference.

Hi, I have a peculiar problem with my EVO 4G with Rcom CDMA number. Wifi is not getting connected automatically in my home (BSNL BB with UT Starcom wifi modem). Every time I wanted wifi connection either I have to switch off the modem and switch on for atleast two times or do the same on the handset. Then only the wifi is connected. In all other places like my office and my brothers home, wifi is detected and connected automatically. Any help will be appreciated greatly.

The problem is solved when I removed the WPA settings in the modem. Is it safe? Fortunately the range is low and the people surrounding my home are highly placed professionals.

2G: Lone CDMA Player Status May Help Sistema (MTS) Get Relief
thilak.kmb replied to faizca's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
@ Kanaga.......... Data is not working for port in numbers like mine. I tried my level best to get data on my Samsung Corby. The local franchisee is my good friend. Still no use. But data is working on this HS with another MTS number sim card. I am waiting to change my HS as soon as the present one gives any problem. MTS network in TN is very good and their tariff is the cheapest in pre paid imho. -
A friend of mine has reportedly won 1000000/ GBP (yes one million) as prize money in a random draw from ESPN STAR CRICKET AWARDS. It seems he has received this mail four times in one month and now he has recd a FINAL NOTIFICATION. All they are asking is his personal details and not any account details. He is rather tempted to go for it despite my warnings not to do so. I have seen the mail. It even contains a phone number and a postal address in London. Any suggestions for him is welcome.

New Online Reservation Website For Indian Railways
thilak.kmb replied to rajanmehta's topic in The Lounge
Practically not possible. Cause often the reason given by the railways- for capacity augmentation or new trains- is non availability of coaches. Besides almost all important trains at present are running to capacity ie 26 coaches. -
My usual reaction to a missed calls is IGNORE. If only it is from a friend or a known customer I call back. Particularly I dont respond to a single ring missed call even if it is from a known number. If somebody wants to talk to me they should call me and should not make me call them. Like wise I dont give missed call to anybody. If I wanted to talk to you I should you call you.

Except the name nothing has changed I suppose. Or is there any change which I failed to note in my EVO 4G?

I used to get sms from my principals and my bank totaling five msg per day. In the recent days I am getting more and more unwanted sms than earlier. So many msg from numbers with prefixes like YD, RD, LM, YM, RM are bombarding me daily. What is the meaning of these prefixes?. Is there any way to black list or block these senders? -
Hi experts, I need a cc tv security system for my garage. My requirements are 4 camera of which at least two should be IR/24 hr recording/motion sensor recording at night/storage for about a week. I have seen some stuff in ebay. Are they reliable? How do you rate them if used. What is the durability. No other online shop is showing this kind of products. Or I have not seen them. Pls suggest. Will be grateful for any input.

Suggest me a Small CC TV Security Pack
thilak.kmb replied to thilak.kmb's topic in General Technical Discussion
I have completed my cctv work. There are several brands available in the market. Most of them are Chinese made and are of good quality. As already mentioned the price starts from 1900 for an IR camera and 6000 for a 4 ch DVR. Like any other product the costlier you go the better the quality. The other products available are wireless cams, IP cams etc. I have done the installation with the help of my staff technician and used a Kalaignar TV ( a portable tv given free by the govt.) as the monitor. Only for the internet portion I got help from a local expert and paid for it. Now I can view things from my HTC EVO with the help of an app available free in the android market. Reliance 1X connection is enough. There is a tiny radio based wireless spy cam with voice (One way) with good reception quality. My brother bought this online (cod) somewhere. A good product with good range and that too for 3000/. I will get the supplier's name and post.
