The retinal implant could, if suitable for all and affordable, be a revolutionary product. Good work Rajan. Keep them coming.

Didn't Want To Bribe My Way Into Airline Business: Ratan Tata
thilak.kmb replied to kesav's topic in The Lounge
It is well known that Tatas will not be paying money for extra considerations. I know a case where a state transport is imposing Rs 25 lakhs penalty for delayed delivery of buses as per the agreement. Tatas have accepted the penalty and were ready to pay.Meanwhile the ruling party comrades started negotiating and asked for a party fund of Rs five lakh to waive off the 25 lakh penalty. You know what happened?. Tatas have refused this offer and paid penalty. That is TATA. They can survive without paying bribe. Now here in this forum how many of us are not willing to pay bribe to get things done? How many of have got the patience to achieve the results without bribing? Me? No. Not possible. the big question is who is responsible? THE GIVER? OR THE TAKER? -
Telecom Minister Raja Resigns From Cabinet

Unruly behavior of MPs; supported by the irresponsible media; public with short memory; Short sighted politicians; let us wake up to the reality. -
My son is coming from the U.S next month. He says he is bringing a Blackberry Bold for me (cdma). Now I request our gurus to suggest me any other better handset. Or is BB Bold OK? My preference is for a HTC. Mind you, I may come to you for help. He has recently switched over from AT&T to Sprint.

I voted for Ubuntu because of its speed and convenience. Day in and day out we use XP at the office but that is different. In all my systems (3dt & one lt)I have atleast two OS and by default they go to linux. I have tried almost all the linux distros at one time or the other. I had to reinstall XP alteast three times due to wrong methods used while installing linux. But finally when you learn it is sweet. Most of us vote between XP and W7. That means other OSes are not tried. The world is very big with many choices.

I have a slightly different opinion on this issue. In any forum there will always be some gurus like our own Muffy, Hitesh, Sadik, Dkaile to name only a few. No harm intended for others not mentioned. Some with some knowledge and many with little knowledge. I wont say no knowledge because it is the little knowledge that made them join the forum. I have very little knowledge on our subject but want to KNOW. At the same time I have no intention of becoming a guru.Rather I dont have the 'stuff' to put it humbly. I have very strong knowledge on auto mobile and and I enjoy replying to queries in a related forum. I think the same will be applicable to our gurus here also. THEY ENJOY SHARING THEIR EXPERTISE AND HELP OTHERS. So there is no question of leeching. You need members to view your post. Just note how many views are there for a posting. That is the very purpose of any forum.

Vote For The Best Web Browser!
thilak.kmb replied to Karthik R's topic in General Technical Discussion
I was the first to reply this thread and for Chrome. For speed and convenience nothing can beat Chrome. But compatibility is a totally different issue because most of the official sites are designed for IE. Our principal's CRM site work only with Maxthon apart from IE. It will not even open with Chrome or Opera. It will not be fully functional with FF. I am not canvassing but request others to try Chrome. After all everybody wants speed. -
Activating various packs and deducting balance without permission
thilak.kmb replied to souravdalal's topic in Miscellaneous
After registering for DND from online there has been no unwanted calls/sms from RCom or any body. It works perfectly even with BSNL. There used to be at least 10 promo sms from BSNL earlier. After DND it is NIL. -
Thanks, Kumaarshah. This is what intuition is. Without any logic something will click. I have experienced this many times. Keep it up. You may start a new thread on this topic inviting others experience.

Image Quality of DSLR vs Compact Camera
thilak.kmb replied to drali's topic in General Technical Discussion
The picture quality will be any day better better with a DSLR whatever be situation. You will know the difference once you use it. But do you need it? Unless you are a pro carrying and handling a DSLR will become a nuisance. There is something in between. DSLR LIKE CAMERAS. Almost all leading companies have such models. I have Nikon L100 with 15x zoom. Though not like P&S cameras, they have all the features - well almost- of a DSLR and less bulky. The main advantage is the price. You will get them in the range of 15k to 25k with reasonably powerful zoom like 15x to 26x. With such powerful lens close ups will be excellent. There are some disadvantages in such cameras. You should master the technique and only you will be able to get good picture. What I mean to say is not just any body can use it. I would suggest Nikon P90 with 24x zoom. Update: P100 is also available. -
I beg to differ from the blog because of its finding- fault- with- every thing nature. We are as I said more interested in sensational media or digging up the grave. There is something called "REALITY". There is no escape from it. This is India. We have to accept our people's nature/behavior. And I don't think it is very different from others. LET US BE PROUD OF WHATEVER LITTLE WE ACHIEVE.

The CWG is a grand success as I hoped. When an event of this magnitude is planned something may go wrong somewhere. Ultimately what happens at the end only matters. It is only the media and the oversensitive people of ours who created all the fuss. Nevertheless it was useful. Let us have the grace to congratulate the organisers. CONGRATS.

Roaming Charges May Go Soon!
thilak.kmb replied to chitshar's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
A very good initiative. What is the situation in other large countries like US? Do they have roaming? -
That will reduce the ringer volume for ever. Not muting for the current call.
-
I have found out this by chance. Press and hold the lock key and then press the vol key. EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!
-
One valid point is there is delay because when I visited Delhi somewhere in 2004 there was talk of planning for the CWG. But all said I AM HOPEFUL THAT EVERYTHING WILL GO SMOOTHLY AND THE GAMES WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.

I somehow follow the habit of switching off my mobile at night 10.30. I used to do it manually earlier. Now that I have Samsung Corby it is programmed to switch off at 10.30 in the night and switch on at 07.00 in the morning. Is it good for the mobile? ( It is good for me personally as I don't want to be disturbed in the odd hrs)
-
Exactly. we save about 35% of energy consumed. I also observed this increase in battery life. thanks for the inputs.

The camera quality ok. cant say its bad. For one thing, the cameras in cell phones are not to be taken seriously. They are not equivalent to a Digcam.

I have recently bought one Canon Lide 100 scanner. Though I have a HP 1020 laser printer, I wanted to buy an MFD. But settled for this scanner. A nice piece, simple but effective. No separate power supply. takes power from USB. consumes very low energy 2.5W Yes two point five. Got various mode for scanning. the user interface in PC is simple. I am learning the operations by trial and error. If any body has got some tips, pls post.
