  1. Samsung Galaxy POP CDMA

The device is visible on TATA Indicom site :: http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-on-mobile.aspx#tab2 RCOM site:: http://www.rcom.co.in/rcom/handset/cdma.jsp (page 3) Samsung India site :: http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/cdma-phone/SCH-I559AAAINU/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&returnurl= OMH world site :: http://omhworld.com/devices/samsung-11
  2. It's just ridiculous to drag this issue so long for to increase the revenue for print and electronic media. Ask all the telecom operators to ban everything which can't be decrypted real-time in their n/w by deadline say 1st June 2011. End of the story....why so much unnecessary drama here..... As malicious RIM has been scandalizing it as whole-industry issue, let them have guts to lead a consortium consisting of all data players of the world and form an encryption platform in a way that it can only be decrypted real-time by security agencies but no one else including them. I can bet they'll never ever do it since after all they're working for Canadian agencies.
  3. It's a great news to know that MTS has breached fast the 100 cities/towns mark in EVDO coverage. Now the coverage stands at 120 cities/towns. http://mtsindia.in/MBlaze/mts-coverge.html   Although this mark is well below the 500 mark achieved by RCOM but it's should be appreciated for the effort they've put in parallel to their mandatory 1x n/w expansion in circles which they've not yet covered.
  4. I feel TATA Indicom is aligning with TATA docomo in its offerings. Indicom has launched several national STVs similar to their offerings in Docomo. Rs. 24 --> 1p/2sec(local) or 30p/min(local) Rs. 32 --> 40p/min (local & STD) Rs. 21 --> Night-1p/2sec(local & STD) or Night-30p/min(local&STD) Rs. 34 --> 1p/4sec(Onnet-local&STD) or 15p/min (Onnet-local&STD) Indicom has also launched daily packs at Rs. 5   http://www.tataindicom.com/t-prepaid-rechargevouchers.aspx I feel there'll be eventual merger of two brands under one name. With Docomo's 3G launch on the horizon, it's only expected that theses two brands will merge together to offer hybrid 3G experience(HSDPA+EVDO) to its pan-India consumers. For dual-tech operators like Reliance,TATA,BSNL and MTNL, the 3G technologies EVDO & HSDPA are going to be complimentary rather than competing.
  5. Airtel Introduces Broadband TV source :: http://telecomtalk.info/airtel-introduces-broadband-tv/59524/ Website :: https://www.airtelbroadbandtv.com/airtelbroadbandtv/InitialRequestAction.do It's just in response to raising popularity of TATA's Photon TV http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-photontv.aspx http://www.tataphoton.com/download/CHANNEL-INTERNETTV-NOV.xls It's very important to note that TATA's landline subscriber addition has overtaken Airtel in the month of January 2011.
  6. No....No.... IPTV is different from Internet TV. This one(also Photon TV) is internet TV. Internet TV is targeted for the people who are willing to watch TV on desktops/laptops. IPTV is much different and superior which is targeted for viewing on Television sets. IPTV operator has to guarantee specified QoS to compete with other platforms like DTH, Digital Cable etc., In IPTV, certain bandwidth for each customer is reserved for TV streams exclusive of Data & Voice. IPTV requires server installations at city-level and consumers require set-top boxes. IPTV delivers exceptional quality and transforms TV viewing as an interactive service. Internet TV is just a TV stream on a website. In Internet TV, stream is just treated as part of the data and there's no guaranteed bandwidth. Internet TV is not bound by regulator's QoS requirement. IPTV is an intra-operator service while Internet TV is an inter-operator service meaning you can access Airtel's Internet TV in BSNL broadband.
  7. Airtel Launches Broadband TV At Rs 99/Month; Not A Neutral Pipe source :: http://www.medianama.com/2011/03/223-airtel-launches-broadband-tv-at-rs-99month-not-a-neutral-pipe/
  8. Source(producers) for sports channels and knowledge channels are very less. Most of the time it's self-production. Hence, it's very easy for them to have 100% HD content. Source(producers) for entertainment channels are too many. Broadcasters cannot force those producers to record in HD immediately. Hence 100% HD content on the start is not possible. It'll take some time. It'll change serial by serial, movie by movie. There is a need to built HD inventory for entertainment channels. But you must appreciate the broadcasters of the listed channels and Dish TV for making the pipe from broadcasters to TV as HD. This will ensure that broadcasters can push HD content program by program whenever it's available without requiring any change from anyone.
  9. Reliance Broadband+ Wi-Fi Pocket Router

Dear @man-saturday, thanks for excellent feedback..... Have you tested the features mentioned in the post? If yes....can you throw some feedback on those features?
  10. Correction. MDA's TD-LTE is in 2300 MHz not in 2100 MHz Don't worry my dear friend.......Airtel will get beaten to dust again in 700 MHz auction similar to the beating they got in 2300 MHz auction. Vodafone, TATA and Uninor are eying 700 MHz auction like hungry foxes and so absolutely there's no hope for Airtel to win pan-India other than winning in pieces to satisfy their "ego".
  11. MTNL Mumbai Broadband Bonanza

Dear friend, it's just a recommendation by TRAI to DoT and not a direction to service providers. But I don't understand why TRAI can't give directions to service providers on the new definition of broadband? :confuse: It's a service regulation and TRAI has its exclusive power in this matter to give directions without any nod from DoT.
  12. DoT, I&B ministry spar over allocation of 700 Mhz band source :: http://www.livemint.com/2011/03/13135912/DoT-IampB-ministry-spar-ove.html The basic thought of possession of precious 700 MHz spectrum by hopeless lazy sloth(aka Doordarshan) is making me feel giddy. Please remove that from Doordarshan and auction it for mobile communication.
  13. MTNL Mumbai Broadband Bonanza

According to TRAI, BB means minimum 256 Kbps always-on
  14. source :: http://www.hindustantimes.com/Firing-up-DTH/Article1-673059.aspx This is exactly where I'm pining at. The signal flow chain in DTH platform is Production-Broadcasters-DTH operators-Settop box- TV. The entire chain from production to consumption should support HD for real HD experience. For 7 channels (Disc HD,NGC HD,Travel XP HD,DD HD,Movies Now HD,Star Cricket HD& ESPN HD), the entire chain is HD. ps:: DD HD,Star Cricket HD & ESPN HD are event based channels For rest of the channels mentioned in the list, the signal flow from Broadcasters to TV is HD. Only missing link is production. What it means? All those channels in the list will have few of the serials/movies in HD to start with and the rest of the programs in upscaled SD. As and when their serial/movie producers start HD production, the percentage of HD content in those channels will increase and will reach 100% over the time.

  16. CDMA iPhone 4 Is Here!

SIM-less GSM Iphones are quite far away and it's a long term plan. They've to live through present to taste the future. China telecom has muscle to extract what it wants from Apple. They're not as meek as TATA and Reliance in dealing with US companies.
  17. CDMA iPhone 4 Is Here!

@Karthik, Let us be assured that if Apple makes an Iphone with RUIM slot, it'll surely be OMH based. Apple does not like locking in developing countries as seen in GSM version Iphones & Ipads.

  24. Tele-marketing companies and operators uses DoT as an instrument to delay further..... source :: http://businesstoday.intoday.in/bt/story/trai-and-dot-tiff-to-delay-ban-on-unwanted-calls-again/1/13726.html It's utter non-sense to quote manual switching as a reason for delaying. Rather DoT must use this as an opportunity to move to automatic switching for all exchanges. Another reason quoted is also not futuristic. When TRAI is working hard on Number Portability in landline, the use of STD code to identify the exchange location is certainly not the future. Identifying exchange based on STD code is also irrelevant due to upcoming fixed-mobile convergence on which TRAI is formulating regulations. In nutshell, futuristic numbering system will not have any signature to identify whether the number belongs to landline or mobile. It'll also not have any signature to identify the exchange or the circle to which the number belongs to. With future in focus, DoT can use this "140" as an opportunity to force operators to upgrade their system in anticipation of landline number portability, inter-circle MNP and fixed-mobile convergence, the services on which TRAI is highly focussed to bring to live at the earliest.
  25. Reliance 3G Mobile Service Now In Bihar and Jharkhand source :: http://telecomtalk.info/reliance-3g-mobile-service-now-in-bihar-and-jharkhand/59314/ RCOM is really galloping fast in the 3G(HSDPA & EVDO) network expansion. Currently they've close to 520 cities/towns in CDMA-3G(EVDO) and around 33 cities in GSM-3G(HSDPA).
