+50 for you. http://www.omhworld.com/ is an amazing find my dear friend. Thanks a lot for highlighting such a comprehensive website maintained by none other than Qualcomm. It's really a big service for this community. I came to know Motorola Milestone XT800 as an OMH device only from this website. As per that site, only Nokia 3806 is OMH based.

Reliance Launches "My Statement" Service For Prepaid
kesav replied to confused_follower's topic in Miscellaneous
@Pajat is exactly correct with respect to 900 MHz GSM. Even for 1800 MHz GSM, operator has to install 1.5x the existing towers to have equal coverage in HSDPA(2100 MHz). It's exactly the reason why EVDO has expanded much faster than HSDPA when RCOM decided to expand both in mutually exclusive manner depending on the circles where they've won 2100 MHz spectrum or not. For EVDO expansion, there is no need of investing in new towers since both 1X and EVDO operate in 800 MHz. If an operator is in 900 MHz GSM, then it's tough time for him to match his existing 2G coverage unless he pours in huge investment. It's exactly the reason why TRAI feels getting back the 900 MHz from old operators for the sake of level playing field as an easy task. An operator in 900MHz with 3G spectrum anyway will multiply his towers for HSDPA(2100 MHz). Once he has good HSDPA(2100 MHz) coverage, it's easy for him migrate to 1800MHz GSM and surrender the 900MHz back to DoT. -
NLD license will do world of good for STD tariff if effectively supported by extensive self fiber network. Great way to go MTS.

Reliance Communications Launches 3G Mobile Services

Reliance 3G in 140 cities by March source :: http://www.themobileindian.com/news/709_Reliance-3G-in-140-cities-by-March It's really an ambitious target if they want to provide blanket coverage. :thumb: or else they can fool consumers by providing patchy coverage with 5 to 6 BTSes in each city. Let us hope RCOM doesn't disappoint us. It's shocking to know that they're not updating the site with launched cities. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/3G/HTML/index.html Still it's showing only 9 cities. :'( :'( :'( -
CBI grills Arun Shourie in 2G case source :: http://www.hindustantimes.com/CBI-grills-Arun-Shourie-in-2G-case/Article1-666539.aspx Shourie is clearly trying to act smart by throwing mud against everyone. First he targeted his colleagues Jaitley & Swaraj for having nexus with telecom corporates and now he has started targeting Maran for the same. By acting like approver, he wants to encapsulate himself from the grave mistakes which he & Promod Mahajan committed during their tenures. CBI must not fall prey to this type of preemption tactic.

Keeping apart the vestigial joke, the point made is exactly true.... "First Come First Serve" is really a sound policy which has created the current telecom revolution. "First Come First Serve" policy is the only way to go as far as 2G is concerned to avoid hoarding of spectrum and for improving competition and to ensure level playing field. There were some hiccups in the implementation, It's now duty of SC supported by CBI & ED to get back the spectrum from defaulters and distribute it to the eligible(as on the original date of application) candidates based on "First Come First Serve" policy.

TRAI Slams Idea & Airtel on Discriminatory SMS Termination Charges
kesav posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
TRAI directs Airtel & Idea to stop having discriminatory termination charges on SMS. http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/Directives/145/ideadirec22feb11.pdf http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/Directives/144/directionbhartiairtel22feb11.pdf It's perplexing to understand why TRAI has not directed these culprits for refunding the excess charges charged against new operators. It's also further perplexing to understand why TRAI has not penalized these defaulters for not following laid down TRAI regulations. :confuse: Come on TRAI, Show your powers..... :help: Below is the advisory from TRAI to all operators requesting them not to indulge in malpractices against the laid down TRAI regulations on SMS termination. http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/misc/155/lattermis22feb11.pdf -
