  1. Death of the SIM card near Advancement in technology has made it possible to have a virtual SIM that can be provisioned as easily and cost effectively as an email account source :: http://www.themobileindian.com/news/611_Death-of-the-SIM-card-near
  2. The below is my thinking.....May be wrong..... Just enter user name and password in login screen...Automatically your phone will get converted to the subscriber to whom that user name and password belongs by clinging on to that subscriber's n/w. No intervention from operator, no change of SIM. Just enjoy like your google account. PS:: User name and password will be provided to the verified subscriber by the operator.
  3. SC asks Sibal to behave responsibly source :: http://www.indianexpress.com/news/SC-blasts-Sibal-s-comments-against-CAG-in--scam-/740503/ It's quite an old statement by SC but needs to be run through. This statement by SC is absolutely unnecessary and undemocratic. In democracy, each pillar, either Judiciary, Legislative or Executive is responsible and answerable to the people of India. It's unconstitutional to stop either of them from speaking to people on the matter of national importance. What Sibal was doing then was to give opinion on CAG report to the people of India in general and to the people who elected him in particular. How can Judiciary stop executive from reaching out to the people? Who else on earth can defend the department in question other than one who heads it? Where were these Judges when the CAG report was debated on media length and breadth? Where were these Judges when opposition was(and still) running misinformation campaign based on CAG report? Will these Judges can bring back any govt(Assam,WB,Kerala,Pondicherry,TN) if it loses purely based on this misinformation campaign? Requesting CBI to ignore comments of minister is correct but saying minister behaved irresponsibly is 'totally unnecessary' on the part of SC. Minister is irresponsible to people if only had he not made statements on CAG report. I deeply beg the president of India (executive head of the country) to intervene immediately and speak to CJI so that such Judicial overreach is not repeated. No organ (either Judiciary or Legislative or Executive) has right to stop another organ from reaching out to people. In our democracy, all these three wings of constitution are servants of people at equal grade. People of India look at SC as the last resort for Justice. Justice should not be driven by popularity but rather by truth and morality. It's important for SC to maintain balance between three wings while doing its function.
  4. All decisions on spectrum allocation since 2003 wrong: Telecom panel source :: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article1156147.ece Complete Media Brief
  5. Leaving out the stories on who favored who.... The tariff become affordable mainly because of Raja and then some extent due to Maran. The credit for affordable tariff must go to them. Shourie, Mahajan, Maran or Raja. In my opinion each one had their own favorite big telecom corporate. Why they had their favorite? Who funds big parties like BJP, Congress and DMK? Both have identical answer.

  9. Govt asks DoT to consult Trai on new licences source :: http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/govt-asks-dot-to-consult-trainew-licences/424046/ This is exactly where DoT made plunder during the tenure of Raja. Regarding most of the TRAI recommendations, DoT made changes without referring back to TRAI. In many cases DoT cherry picked recommendations without treating all recommendations in unison. Due to this cherry picking by DoT, TRAI was not able to steer the industry in the direction it wanted to. Ministry of Information & Broadcasting which also receives recommendations from TRAI was really proactive in referring back to TRAI even for a single change in word. Let us hope and pray, at least during tenure of Sibal, DoT will focus on implementation and enforcement rather than spending time on policy matters which is purely in TRAI's domain. The respect for Regulator will remain intact among stakeholders(service providers) only when govt departments respect the regulator. Let us hope DoT had learnt certain lessons in this imbroglio and avoid doing other's work.
  10. Last IP addresses allocated, says IANA source :: http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/internet/article1153737.ece Let us hope and pray that our ISPs are sensing the impending danger and invest sufficiently for IPV6 migration by deadline Dec 2011. It's much important for our Govt. departments to migrate to IPV6 on priority basis as this year is the large scale implementation year of UID. Let us hope the task forces constituted are doing their assigned tasks with this breaking news in mind.
  11. Raja suffering for good deeds: Karunanidhi source :: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics/nation/raja-suffering-for-good-deeds-karuna/articleshow/7421114.cms
  12. Still Sibal's claim of "NIL" loss actually holds good. CAG's hypothetical figures remain notional till date. Raja's arrest is purely for procedural irregularity of changing 'first come first serve' to 'first pay first serve' thus helping some companies to jump the rest in the queue.

  15. OTAP is not specific for CDMA. It's there for all radio technologies. OTAP is key for MNP. There are 2 types of virtual SIM covered in the article (1)Comviva:: Conventionally only one number can be provisioned in one SIM. This technology takes it forward to provision about 5 numbers on single SIM. All those 5 numbers can also be changed at any time. (2)Apple:: No physical SIM at all. Handset itself will behave like a SIM where it can be programmed to any number at any time.

  19. Dear Friends, My appeal to you to not run the thread based on the figures available in the internet. I feel all those figures are basically paid campaigns by operators to fool the general public and turn the tide towards them. No entity can have real data other than Syniverse and MNP Interconnection(Telcordia). I don't think any of those figures available in different websites are sourced from Syniverse and MNP Interconnection and consolidated to give pan-India value. If actually any of those websites have sourced their information from MNP operators, they could have proudly mentioned it in their website that 'these figures are sourced from anonymous sources in MNP operators'. I'm 100% inclined to believe these figures are actually fudged and provided to the last digit to make it to appear it be real.
  20. Coming back to the topic in hand, It's really shocking to see still BES not banned even after 48 hours of their deadline.  It's high time for Govt. to ban BES and then continue the discussion with RIM on the subject. Only then, RIM will budge and they'll be under pressure to bring back the service. Otherwise, they'll continue to spread misinformation in public domain to pressure Govt. Govt.'s soft pedaling approach is really creating panic in the minds of people. Everyone is concerned whether Govt. has any guts to deal with money backed multinationals. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
  21. @city02, My dear friend, I feel very sorry for you for being fooled by RIM's public speeches and press releases. You have based your arguments on the following pillars (1) Private keys are only with respective users (2) RIM has not provided real time access to BES to any country (3) Terrorist is not intelligent to use BES as communicating tool All of the above pillars are totally wrong and have been discussed length and breadth in this thread/forum. I request you spend some time to get abreast with all those discussions which have happened so far before trying to grind already ground flour.

I sincerely appeal to DoT to create a circle level help line manned by each TERM cell to receive and process MNP complaints.
