Parliament will not be stalled : Prakash Karat source :: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Parliament-will-not-be-stalled-but-no-compromise-on-JPC-Prakash-Karat/articleshow/7392015.cms It's really positive news. Now, both CPI and CPM have shifted sides regarding the blocking of parliament. BJP stands isolated and hopeless. I feel even its ally JDU will shift side since Nitish Kumar is more a rationalist rather than egoistic. If any party feels that their demand for JPC is meaningful, let them go to the streets and convince the people. Don't ever block the functioning of democracy by stalling parliament. It's unjustifiable. In parliamentary democracy, opposition do not any mandate to dictate the Govt. At the best, opposition can plead with the Govt. But the Govt.(read as ruling parties) can either reject or consider those demands based on its wisdom.

It's like all the webpages in TTSL (TATA Indicom, TATA Docomo) being provided by interface. It's like Qualcomm chips in LG CDMA handsets. This Home Automation will be sold under the name TATA but powered by Micro Technologies. There exist official link to this website from TATA website.

Prepaid Extended till 31.03.2011 for J&K, Assam & NE
kesav posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
DoT extends prepaid service in J&K, Assam & NE till 31.03.2011 http://dot.gov.in/as/2011/as_20.01.2011.pdf I feel really sorry for prepaid customers there. They'll always be in dilemma on when their services will be banned. Let us hope that they've strength to accept this restriction as a Govt. tool to protect their lives. -
A very valid point. TRAI should make note of it. Pricing in A-la-Carte may be is not the best at the moment. Certainly it'll fall in due course of time or if it does not fall TRAI will intervene and set the max cap for each genre. If inter-operable set-top boxes are not mandatory anywhere in the world then I'm really really happy. At least we've a chance to become the first country in the world to introduce the same and the rest of the world will follow suit. :GirandoOjos: The greatest advantage of being first country to adapt something new lies in making technology exactly meeting our Indian requirements instead of taking something from around the world and tweaking to meet our requirements.

Dear Rajan, Answer for you may be present in the below consultation paper http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/ConsultationPapers/211/bandcsconsulta20agu.pdf

Cartel is very much possible with only 6 operators. I expect minimum of 12 operators so that at least we'll end up having 2 cartels. Competition can exist between cartels. The current problem is non-availability of transponders. Due to 2 successive failures of GSLV launch things have become really tough for increasing DTH players. In the recent consultation by TRAI on interoperability of set-top box, incumbents like TATA, Dish opposed it while new entrants like Airtel, Videocon welcomed it. The scenario which is very familiar for us (telecom watchers). After all who are they? TATA,Airtel,Videocon.....our own beloved telecom companies.....

MTNL CDMA 1x (Garuda) Unlimted Only @ Rs.75
kesav replied to foofly's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
As per my understanding, Micromax 300C is not OMH device. Instead, it has all the Indian CDMA operators data settings(BSNL,TATA,Reliance,MTS) pre-programmed. Hence, Micromax 300C can work with both OMH and non-OMH RUIMS. -
Pricing of channels will certainly differ from operator to operator. That's the beauty of the competition and A-la-Carte. Competition will automatically bring down the cost of the channels in due course. Due to introduction of A-la-Carte, channels will move up or down the cost ladder depending on the demand of a particular channel by consumers. This was not earlier possible since operators were pushing in no-demand channels along with high demand channels as packs. It's high time for TRAI to provide recommendations on set-top box portability. The complete benefit of A-la-Carte can only be realized by consumers when set-top boxes are portable across operators. Come on TRAI come on you can do it.

MTS slashed its EVDO modem prices. Standard -- Rs. 1549 Premium -- Rs. 1599 http://mtsindia.in/Rajasthan/netonthego.html  It's Reliance effect. Waiting for BSNL & TATA to follow suit. -
MTNL CDMA 1x (Garuda) Unlimted Only @ Rs.75
kesav replied to foofly's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
This offer from MTNL is just breathtaking that too with OMH RUIM. :Sorprendido: :Sorprendido: Certainly private operators who have voice consumers (read as RCOM,TATA & MTS) cannot offer something similar since it'll clog their n/w. BSNL has very high possibility of following suit. -
http://www.olivetelecom.in/olive-news.html Although it's not the world's first(as claimed by Olive) Multi-mode, Multi-band Mode but it has several things which are first. 1) It's first Rev. B Multi-mode modem (speed up to 14.7 mbps) 2) It's first HSDPA 14.4 Mbps Multi-mode modem although earlier multi-mode ones where having max HSDPA speed of 7.2 Mbps We must salute Olive for such a stupendous feat. :hi2: :hi2: :cheer: This development clearly signals the impending launch of EVDO Rev. B in India. Olive Telecom rolls out HSPA+ / EV-DO Rev. B dual-mode modem in Russia http://mobile.engadget.com/2010/12/29/olive-telecom-rolls-out-hspa-ev-do-rev-b-dual-mode-modem-in/
