Data Roadmap 1x --> EVDO Rev. 0 --> EVDO Rev. A(VORA) --> EVDO Rev. B(VORB) Voice Roadmap 1x --> 1X advanced In single antenna handsets, either Data carrier or Voice carrier can only be active. SVDO:: In Dual antenna handsets, it's possible to access both carriers simultaneously and that method is called SVDO. VORA/VORB:: Voice over EVDO. It's basically layering voice inside data channel similar to VoIP. Since voice & data are moving in same carrier, this can work in single antenna handsets without need of accessing 1x voice carrier. DO-Advanced:: It's an upgrade which can be applied either on EVDO Rev. A or EVDO Rev. B to improve the respective performances.

2G scam: CPI backs down on JPC demand source :: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/2g-scam-cpi-backs-down-on-jpc-demand-81029 Let us sincerely hope that better sense will prevail upon the rest of opposition. It's duty of each political party to allow parliament to work which in turn will allow democracy to work. Already this virus of holding parliament has crept into the state assembly of Karnataka. We don't know how many more state legislatures will get infected by this virus in future. Let us not forget this virus has potent to paralyze the entire democracy. We sincerely appeal to the virus breeders like Jaitley, Swaraj & Gadkari to park their egos and come back to make democracy work in a meaningful manner.

Telcordia India’S Mnp Portal Gets Hacked
kesav replied to Honest's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
I completely agree with you Rajan. The article title by TelecomTalk is misleading. Let us hope it's just unintentional. The public website of the MNP operator is completely shielded away from the actual MNP system which is MNP operator's private n/w. Although this attack is not good advertisement for Telcordia but actual MNP process and activities will get least affected by attack on the less secure public information web page. -

Tariff flexibility is similar to BSNL & RCOM without any useless bundling with voice. But with such ridiculous tariff, 3G is never going to reach masses. Official Link http://www.airtel.in/Airtel-3G/tariff_chart.html It's time to compare base/Pay as you Go tariff of different operators. BSNL -- 1p/10 KB (approx. Rs.1/MB) TATA Docomo -- 1p/KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) RCOM -- 10p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 10/MB) Airtel -- 30p/20 KB (approx. Rs. 15/MB) PS:: Due to launch of 3G, now all operators have same base tariff for both EDGE and 3G. It shows Airtel never learns from its mistakes. Most ridiculous part is even EDGE/GPRS is charged at Rs. 15/MB on base in Airtel. Over the free quota charge on postpaid packs. BSNL -- 1p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 1/MB) TATA Docomo -- 1p/10 KB (approx. Rs. 1/MB) RCOM -- 2p/10KB (on < 1 GB packs) and 1p/10 KB (on >= 1GB packs) (approx. Rs. 2/1 MB) Airtel -- 30p/20 KB (approx. Rs. 15/MB) Again utter foolishness.......

kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
DoT clarifies that any upgradation to the site either HW or SW will require fresh certification. Fresh certification has to be submitted within 2 weeks of upgradation. After fresh certification, TERM cell may test the site if it felt necessary. http://dot.gov.in/as/2010/as_10.12.2010-3.pdf- 18 replies

User Verification: Airtel Gets Highest Penalty, Reliance Communications Lowest
kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Now, 'Aadhaar'(India's Unique Identification) can be used as PoI(proof of identification) & PoA (proof of address). http://dot.gov.in/as/2011/as_14.01.2011.pdf   -
Please read the post carefully. China Telecom bound dual mode phones are only DualStandby Dualmode2G + 3G in CDMA only and not Dualmode3G. Motorola Glam is also similar type and not Dualmode3G. Hence it'll not be a member in this list.
-
For sure.....DualMode3G + DualStandby is still a dream......

TATA Indicom Reintroduces Internet Packs
kesav replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Really a fantastic change. Now they allow mobile tethering with these packs. http://www.tataindicom.com/tatazone-internet-pack.aspx   PS:: Due to oversight still they've not deleted "3. The internet usage with the pack corresponds to only the services offered on WAP and BREW platforms and not for offline internet usage i.e. usage of handset as modem." from Terms & Conditions. Hope they rectify it to avoid confusion.
