Reliance HSD / EVDO / Netconnect Broadband+ coverage update
kesav replied to rajeshkatiyar's topic in Data services
Kudos to Reliance for achieving this wonderful feat !!! Reliance is the first private operator to reach the coveted milestone of 100 in 3G coverage considering players on both fronts( HSDPA and EVDO). I feel both TATA and MTS will get ignited and catch up with Reliance in near term. Let us wish all the best for Reliance to reach the same milestone in GSM-3G(HSDPA) in quick time when they roll-out their HSDPA n/w. -

JPC is not a representative body: Govt source :: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article927642.ece?homepage=true It's very clear that JPC is just a political tool and it serves nothing. It falls short in terms of representation(only 7 out of 37 parties) and competence(it does not have any experts to deal with such a technical matter like spectrum). JPC at this stage can only undermine the functions of constitutional institutes like SC,PAC,CBI,ED, etc., Holding parliament for upholding egos is a bad precedent and it'll only set examples for other state assemblies to follow in immediate future. What is wrong in waiting till all constitutional institutes to complete their functions? Anyway this Govt. has four more years to complete. Opposition has enough time to setup and complete JPC probe even if it's setup after all the constitutional institutes complete their functions. Bypassing/Truncating/Paralleling the functions of such high constitutional institutes like SC,PAC, CBI, ED etc., is not a good advertisement for our democracy. It's like questioning the existence of such institutes which in turn is a question on our constitution. I feel it's high time that a law is enacted in parliament which stipulates that JPC can only be thought of after all the responsible constitutional institutes completed their respective tasks. It will preserve the sanctity of these institutes which our founding fathers guaranteed(implicitly) under constitution. This will also help to avoid this kind of foolish and egoistic drama in shrine of democracy. Our founding fathers never thought during their times that this shrine will ever be occupied by such foolish people who block its functioning to block/bypass other constitutional institutes' functions.

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
kesav replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
MTS problem is one dimensional. It has a problem only in roll-out obligation which can be achieved by pleading with DoT for extra time. DoT has to make a call whether to accept that plea or not. Uninor problem is two dimensional. One with roll-out obligation and another with eligibility criteria at the point of getting licenses. Eligibility criteria cannot be corrected retrospectively. If it's proven that they didn't meet eligibility criteria then there exist no other choice other than to cancel the licenses of Uninor. The players who are behind them in the queue will push for cancellation. It's purely players mistake for submitting wrong documents. It's mistake on the part of Telenor for not having done proper due diligence before acquisition. DoT only can help in migration of uninor subscribers to other players in a smooth manner. -
3G CDMA Auction - DoT seeks intervention from Defense dept.

The choice exist for all players. Airtel can also win CDMA 3G auction and can start CDMA 3G operation. But as we know only CDMA players will be interested in exercising the option. -
Telecom Minister Raja resigns from Cabinet source :: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article886185.ece?homepage=true It's one of the darkest days of Indian Democracy. Money power has won over crystal clear truth. It's saddening to note that truth can be subdued with power of paid-media and unruly behaviours in Parliament. I hope one day Truth will prevail......

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
kesav replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
MTS is currently in switch-off mode due to impending cancellation of their licenses in the circles where they've not started their service. Currently their focus is to save those licenses by providing mandated roll-out obligation coverage in those circles. MNP is not their focus at the moment. -

Didn't Want To Bribe My Way Into Airline Business: Ratan Tata
kesav replied to kesav's topic in The Lounge
It's really interesting to know every corporate wants to fix their pet man in the ministry of their interest. We earlier know that Sunil Mittal lobbied to fix Dayanadhi Maran as telecom minister Now we know that TATA has lobbied and fixed A. Raja as telecom minister With this expose, The total Indian corporate world looks tainted with corruption trying to take over the country through their money power. If even TATA can do this I don't think anyone you can trust with in the corporate world. Isn't correct to assume that part of rs.60 Crore (an amount accepted by Radia as on date) has reached the pockets of Vir and Barkha for helping Radia? What we don't know yet is how many more portfolios were fixed through lobbying. How many more ministers are there who work for corporates who fixed them and not for people who have elected them? -

Rate change applicable pan-India. Tariff Card updated with new pulse rate. http://www.bsnl.co.in/service/tnc/basictariff.htm -
The statement hold good only for BSNL. TATA Docomo's 3G-GSM rates are too exhorbitant and not affordable. As of today, TATA Docomo's 3G-GSM coverage is too little compared to their own 3G-CDMA(EVDO) coverage. We've to wait till all the operators launch 3G-GSM to know real market price and coverage.

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
kesav replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
As per ur partial list above u say bsnl works in unified license that means like what u have said above we must not get a roaming symbol when u travel inbetween chennai and RoTn. But the fact is v get roaming symbol for bsnl also. Initially bsnl, airtel, aircel, vodafone (then bplmobile / hutch) started with seperate licenses for chennai and RoTN.. They have different codes (like INA 40 / INA 94 (airtel)... diff. for chennai and RoTN). Even though their licenses could have been merged on paper i.e. on records, technically they r 2 diff. networks. So v will see roaming symbol. Whereas the new operators started for entire tn(incl. chennai) with a single network.. single code. So no roaming symbol. So what i come to say is there is no connection between the roaming symbol and unified license incase of older operators. Possible Siva, I stand corrected. I thought roaming symbol could help in identifying the type of license but as you said if it fails for BSNL then I think it's not a good solution for identifying the license. The below are few facts. All new operators are in unified license. BSNL and TTSL are 2 old operators( whom I know for sure) who have migrated to unified license. -
