  3. In a democracy, the fourth state should function to more morality when other organs fail. It's the least expected out of media. We very well know our politicians are corrupt. That's already subscribed. No futher discussion required on it. There is no point in taking shelter by quoting our politicians' bad ways. Media should set moral values for themselves before advocating to others. Just imagine now, if Vir/Barkha interviews some politicians and asks questions on corruption and morality, what will be viewers thought process? what will be so interviewed politicians' thought process? There are thousand number of ways to make money. If anyone has money in mind, please don't enter media and pollute noble profession. Media is a watchdog for other functions of democracy. After all 80% of literate population in India trusts what has been potrayed in media as always true. If others(Judiciary, Legislative, Executive) become corrupt, media can correct. If media becomes corrput then nobody can correct it because media is not designed by constitution. Do these journalists deserve any place in this society for what they've done? I've seen in most cases, good journalists and their publications are always subdued by bad journalists like these since these parrots are spooned by equally bad politicians and bad corporates.
  4. Bansal says no move to adjourn Parliament source :: http://www.indianexpress.com/news/bansal-says-no-move-to-adjourn-parliament/715549/ Absolutlety there's no necessity for JPC at this stage. Establishing JPC at this stage is like ridiculing the constitutional setup called JPC. JPC should not be setup as knee-jerk reaction. It's should be setup for the purpose of reviewing the entire functions of all the constitutional bodies on one particular matter. It should not be setup to do the same work as done by other constitutional bodies. JPC germinates from parliament(one of 3 highest institutes of our democracy) and it should be given superior function of analysing the reports from all other constitutional bodies(CBI,CAG, ED, PAC etc.,) rather than doing the same work as done by other constitutional institutions. Hope some sort of sense will prevail in the minds of BJP politicians after their victory in Bihar. Hope they realize that they've won in Bihar for runing state assembly properly and certainly not by halting it indefinitely.

  6. It's totally funny to see Barkha Dutt reporting gleefully on Bihar Election Results today. What a shameless woman she is..... Doesn't she have any iota of morality and sense of guilt? Are these people made of human skin or buffalo(may be Rhino's)skin? Just grinning in the newsroom will not cleanse her sins. The sins commited by her can't be punished in court of law due to want of evidences. It's more of moral sins and polluting her noble profession of journalism. Hope one day these non-humans will become humans and self sacrifice (may be exiling out of journalism) themselves for their sins. Only then this dirty river of fourth state can hope for some trust from Indian public.

  8. Amit more than being the first to report the news, you just saved a precious life who was just about to get a heart attack. Noble Deed. Ah...That's true....Serenity which I got now can't be explained in words. After years and years of reading this thread, at last a great feeling (mixture of sense of achievement and complete relaxation).....
  9. Opposition can't dictate terms: Congress source :: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article907723.ece A great move by Govt. Opposition is exhibiting political unholiness in the shrine(parliament) of democracy. This attitude has to nipped in the bud. Govt. is not elected to be run according to opposition but according to people of the country. What people of the country wants is proper functioning of all the constitutional institutions(CBI, ED, SC, PAC) including the parliament. Opposition is stopping the function of one institution(parliament) to establish a parallel power center(JPC) which will devalue other established institutions' functions. Bypassing institutions should not be allowed to become character of our democracy. If allowed this virus will spread across and the people working in different institutions will always work under dilemma on whether their work will be valued at all. India should and must become process driven democracy. Govt. has its mandate to show to the people that none of the steps in any process will ever be skipped for whims of certain influential politicians.

  14. 10 deaths per day in one city in one trasnport mode is totally unacceptable. This could not have happened even if we had lived in dictatorship. What is the purpose of democracy? It's alarming to think what will be the country's total figure if we add all road and train deaths. Everyone(citizen, State Govt, Central Govt, Corporation, Railways, business houses, NGOs) has to do their best to come out this horrible situation. Let all join together and work together than blaming one another.
  15. Congress core group meets against backdrop of Parliament stalemate source :: http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report_congress-core-group-meets-against-backdrop-of-parliament-stalemate_1470498 Appointment of JPC at this stage is criminal. Running parliament is not the exclusive duty of the incumbent Govt. It is shared responsibility of all the parties in the parliament. Bypassing the established parliamentary committee's job for whims of few opposition leaders' ego is not moralistic. What purpose JPC can serve at this stage when everything (SC hearing, CBI enquiry, PAC review on CAG report) is pending????? Establishing JPC at this stage only creates a parallel investigation and it only signals how bad we treat the established constitutional institutions' functions. For heaven sake, please allow PAC do its job. Let us allow every constitutional institutions (SC,CBI, PAC etc.,) to complete their assigned tasks. If opposition is not satisfied at the end of all these things, then we can setup JPC. This will ensure following things. (1) It will ensure credibility for the existence of constitutional institutions and parliamentary committees signaling their job will never be bypassed and their reports are treated to the level what our founding fathers wanted it to be treated at (2) If JPC established at the end of all institutions' functions, JPC will have all data at its disposal and can complete its job in time bound manner (3) If JPC started at the end of all institutions' functions, it can effectively judge which institutions have done their job to perfection so that they can appreciate those institutions and propose remedial actions on the institions which floundered (4) Parliament can do its normal job without wasting time on this issue and it can interfere meaningfully only when all the established institutions have completed their job and complete data available with chair persons. So I pray and beg to opposition parties as a citizen of India, please allow all institutions(inc. PAC) to function normally but in the same breath I request you to keep up the pressure on these institutions to complete its job in the quickest possible time. Please don't bypass institutional functions since it'll only damage the enthusiasm in those institutions if they come to know there's parallel over-powering investiagtion is going-on. It's important at this point of time in the history for India to show to the world that each constitutional institution in the country can't be bypassed and its work is treated with utmost respect by none other than the parliament of the country. Let us not spoil our democracy for only to hold our egos high......
  16. Reliance EVDO expansion is really breath-taking. http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/personal/internet/wireless_internet_coverage.html Within a month or two, it has moved from 67 to 90 cities/towns. Soon they'll hit a century. Hope we subscribers may get some century GB free data offer.  TATA looks like not interested in EVDO since they're completely focussed on HSDPA. MTS which was sprinting till a month ago started dosing off. May be they're get caught in the license cancellation issues on the circles where they've not even started CDMA 1x.
  17. I got the following SMS from BSNL. "For a Corruption Free Society - lodge complaint with central vigilance commission at website WWW.CVC.NIC.IN or at TOLL FREE NO : 011-24651000 - BSNL" It's a strange thing to get an SMS from BSNL on Corruption free Society. After a bit of intuition, I got the reason. The current CENTRAL VIGILANCE COMMISSIONER, P. J. THOMAS was secretary of DoT till a month back. It can only happen in India that head of the department under scrutiny is transferred to head the agency which is investigating it. Its not strange then for him to propagate corruption free society through an organisation entrenched with corruption. There is a saying in Tamil which means "Wolf sheds tears for the goats getting drenched in rain"
  18. SC uncomfortable with Thomas as Central Vigilance Commissioner source :: http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/sc-uncomfortable-with-thomas-as-central-vigilance-commissioner-67792 A very strong observation from SC. Another important point to note here is AG's googly at SC. He directly questions SC on whether appointments of judges in SC and HC are based on the criteria of impeccable integrity. Let us pray it does not become a cat fight between Judiciary and Executive. As citizens, we want all the top posts in the country to be handled by people of impeccable integrity whether it's judiciary or executive.

  20. DoT issues clarification on non-compliant wrt(with respect to) subscriber verification for cases referred from LEA(Law Enforcement Agencies), cases of complaints, cases discovered during investigation of bulk cases, surprise checks etc., DoT says these cases also will bear same penalty as it is applicable for monthly sample audit. http://dot.gov.in/as/2010/as_18.11.2010.pdf
  21. I feel you're totally confused with TATA's telecom operation. There are 2 companies in wireless segment viz TTSL and TTML. In both these companies NTT Docomo, Japan owns some percentage of shares (I think it's 26%). Both companies operate 2 brand names viz TATA indicom and TATA docomo. Indeed they(TTSL&TTML put together) are the 4th largest operator if we just include wireless subscribers alone. If we include wireline subscribers also then BSNL will overtake TATA. Refer
