Didn't Want To Bribe My Way Into Airline Business: Ratan Tata
kesav replied to kesav's topic in The Lounge
+1 to thilak.kmb for highlighting state transport bus story +1 to kshah for higlighting TATA HONDA car project and Steel plant in Silvassa (D&NH) of VOLTAS. +1 to kalpeshaparmar for highlighting Titanium Refining project Since rimwebians are from different states of this vast country, it's important for each one to share the glimpse of TATA's commitment to values seen at different places across India. Hope to read more such references....... These references are like lotuses, which are very rare to see nowadays in the dirty pond of corporate world. -

Mobile Number Portability service from November 25
kesav replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Looks like MNP implementation is hotting up in the circles served by Telcordia. Please find the order below which mentions the withdrawal of 2nd LRN allocated to BSNL in TN circle for implementing MNP. http://dot.gov.in/as/2010/as-III_05.10.2010.pdf Accidentely BSNL has been allocated double LRN in 'rest of Tamilnadu' & 'Chennai' separately although BSNL works under unified Tamilnadu licenese. Now DoT cancels one set which signifies that the things are in progress for MNP and someone might have higlighted this issue to DoT while doing work on MNP. -
Telecom Minister Raja Resigns From Cabinet
kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Hell with "fourth estate". The power of free media is overshadowed by paid media......... It's a sin for the country and democracy..... I feel it's just a temporary arrangement. Kapil Sibal is very good minister with high reputation but I still prefer him in HRD since HRD is much vital and more important for citizens than telecom. Let us wait and watch for the new minister who will probably be announced only after parliament session. -

As expected and higlighted, GSM biggies want MNP implementation to be postponed to January 20 next year source :: http://telecomtiger.com/PolicyNRegulation_fullstory.aspx?storyid=10255§ion=S174 Anyway for GSM biggies, half of their task is completed after the removal of Raja. Now, they're freely suggesting their own timelines which they never have intetion to adhere. Hope Kabil Sipal has mental strength to force the operators to toe the line and stick to Nov 25. -

kesav replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Asking all rimwebians is fine but if someone says "I prefer RCOM CDMA for X & Y reasons" without mentioning his circle then it becomes not an useful information. That's why I suggested circle-wise polling even if for some circles only 3/4 polls getting casted. If you use a common thread then it will become too clumsy even if each poster mentions his circle along with preference. Reader may not get any overview of the poll since to identify Rimwebians' preferred operator he has to filter the posts based on his circle and count the votes manually. -

TATA Indicom Reintroduces Internet Packs
kesav replied to sougatadc's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Dear Sougata, Have a look at the website http://tataindicom.com/tatazone-internet-pack.aspx One important point which has to be noted is TATA Indicom has changed the default tariff and tariff beyond usage cap to 50p/MB from earlier 10p/10KB. A reduction of close to 2000%. That could be reason for the hike in the tariff. What Hetal means is that these plans cannot be used for accessing internet through mobile tethering. Big screens(PC/Laprop) and normal keyboards are always user friendly when compared against the largest mobile screens and keypads(available in smartphones). -

kesav replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
If you want to make it useful for other forum members then I suggest you to start a poll circle-wise may be starting with your circle WB. As for as tariff is concerned, now almost all operators have uniform tariff across circles. But network performance, network coverage, billing, customer care differs from circle to circle for the same operator. So I feel having a pan-India poll or thread for preferred operator is not desirable. -

Are you TATA Indicom/TATA Docomo prepaid customer? TTSL/TTML lists last 10 outgoing calls made by prepaid subscriber in the subscriber's online 'my account'. You can see the LRN only there..... -
Tata Docomo Launches 3G USB Modems and Samsung Galaxy Tab
kesav replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Pricing of the USB modems are clearly good. Still, I would prefer to go for unlocked modems rather than these Tata Docomo modems even if those unlocked modems are Rs. 1000 more..... There is another great disappointment for me. I was eagerly waiting for unified 3G(HSPA+/EVDO) modem from TTSL since they're one of dual-tech operators. Let's keep our fingers crossed for RCOM announcments on 3G modems. But, what is the use of buying these modems? TATA Docomo's 3G data tariff is totally exhorbitant and beyond the dream of comman man. -

Mobile Number Portability service from November 25
kesav replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Supreme Court is hearing the matter and it's not complete. Let us not talk about it till the judgement. CAG is an auditing agency and it has done its duty of finding the avenues where revenue to the Govt. could have been maximized. Anybody on the finance side would have given the similar report. It's not in CAG's purview to say whether if a department has taken that route for maximizing revenue will result in any adverse effect on citizens. CAG submitting report is just only one half of the process(pertaining to revenue side). Now it has to be reviewed (again pertaining to revenue) by PAC(Public Accounts Commitee) which will then be tabled in parliament which will debate those avenues' merits wrt to sociological impact. Process gets completed only then. In the past CAG has submitted several such reports on many ministries, no minister ever has resigned over such report. -

Dear Friend, I agree to everything in your post in spirit(although I'm not in favour of certain words you've used) except for the word "2G scam". IMHO, 2G scam is just a story scripted & financed by cartel(read as GSM hooligans), played by opposition and staged by media. All the talks in the media about 2G scam is just rubbish and certainly doesn't have any substance. Raja is an inefficient minister but certainly doesn't have courage or intelligence to execute a scam. -
As TRAI is concerned about the failure in the uptake of IN(Intelligent Network) services(example:: You can use Docomo STD/ISD calling cards in Airtel(or any other opearor) n/w), it has decided to force the agreements to be signed between operators within 90 days from the date of publication of the below ammendment. At the moment, TRAI has just released the ammendment in draft form for comments from the public including operators. TRAI intends to complete the consultation process by 3rd November 2010. Thereafter it'll bring the ammendment into force. http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/ConsultationPapers/215/Final%20backgrounfnote_IN_AMEND.pdf http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/ConsultationPapers/215/IN_amendment__Final_Circulated.pdf Indeed a very good move by TRAI.  IN services will be a good boon for new players for maximising their revenue and it'll bring down the tariff further.

Mobile Number Portability service from November 25
kesav replied to Arun's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
They've already started my dear friend. Current howls and cries by opposition asking Raja to resign over 2G Scam is basically funded by GSM biggies. GSM biggies are of the opinion that they can postpone MNP by an year or so if Raja leaves office. 2G scam is a figment of imagination. I would have felt existence of meaningful opposition parties in India,if they've asked for Raja's regisnation based on the poor performance of BSNL or Delaying MNP for more than a year. These are the real issues(with 100% evidence) which affect the common man. I'm more than 100% convinced that oppostion will never take those pro-consumer issues because then they'll never get money to run their parties. -
BlackBerry, Skype, Gmail and now 3G come under the scanner of Indian Government
kesav replied to faizone's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
DoT instructs all service providers to intimate it 35 days prior to provisioning of any service in their network alongwith functioning methodology by which real-time monitoring is possible for that service. DoT will approve that service only when it gets satisfied with the monitoring methodology outlined. Only after this approval, the service can go live. http://dot.gov.in/as/2010/as_03.11.2010.pdf It's a welcome move by DoT although it's quite late. It's better late than never. We'll no longer hear any ban on existing services causing inconvenience to subscribers. -
