  1. This is just lightning fast my dear friend. I sense some sort of urgency from your end. I suggested you to buy through Olive sales representative so that you can have a demo and be assured of everything works. Anyway, now I hope the ebay seller should able to help you out during initial setup. All the best and be prepared to enjoy BSNL EVDO through WiFi. In the meantime, get hold of some working olive helpline numbers.
  2. Look out how our not too far distant neighbour(Thailand) is treating deadline as deadline for implementing MNP. Thai Operators Appeal Against MNP Fines source :: http://www.cellular-news.com/story/45863.php
  3. TATA has increased the price of TATA Photon WiFi to Rs. 6499 from Rs. 4999 after looking at the demand. I feel this increment is stupidly calibrated for the following reasons. 1) TATA Photon+ (Rs. 2499) and Olive Nexus (Rs. 3499 -- web price) = Rs.5998 can together do what TATA Photon WiFi does. 2) TATA Photon+ new connection has Rs. 200 dicount on its monthly rental which is not there in TATA Photon WiFi 3) Olive Nexus is universal(meaning any USB modem from any technology(1x/EVDO/EDGE/HSDPA etc.,) from any operator can be inserted in) in functionality but TATA Photon WiFi is locked to TATA EVDO n/w http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-wi-fi.aspx http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-plus-on-computer.aspx http://www.olivetelecom.in/olive-nexus-vr9-wireless-router/
  4. It's great news especially snapdragon 8655. Snapdragon 8655 means this phone will be a world edition capable of working both in HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and EvDO Rev. B
  5. Call to toll free olive telecom number given in the website. Inform him that you're interested in buying Olive Nexus. He'll ask which operator's USB modem/mobile(for USB-tethering)/Broadband connection you've to plug-in. You can tell him that you own BSNL EVDO modem. He'll arrange for in-home demo for the same through sales executive in your city.you can buy after ensuring it works. The same procedure happened in my case but the modem being BSNL HSDPA.
  6. Home ministry targets VPNs source :: http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/home-ministry-targets-vpns/412826/ Let us hope all the highlighted companies will fall in line sooner than later. But this time around, the companies under fire are from the land of uncle Sam. These companies will use all the powers under the roof(US Govt, US Trade lobbies, Indian Trade lobbies, Paid media campaign) to nullify this security move by Govt. Let us pray so that our Govt. gets enough strength to withstand ensuing ordeal. Dear Admins, Kindly change the topic heading to "BlackBerry, Skype, Gmail, 3G and now VPN come under the scanner of Indian Government"
  7. There's Olive Nexus in the market which will be helpful to you. http://www.olivetelecom.in/olive-nexus-vr9-wireless-router/ The main advantage of these WiFi routers for cellular technology lies in the fact that these devices can be parked at best possible signal zone of the service provider (like top of the shelf, some corner in the kitchen)in your house and any laptop/desktop/WiFi devices can be hooked on it. Here's the link to user manual of TATA Photon+ WiFi device (Combination of EVDO MODEM+ WiFi ROUTER in a single device). http://www.tataphoton.com/download/SER-8189-User-Guide-Win-Mac-Linux.pdf May be configuraiton highlighted in the manual would be some help to you.
  8. Telcos ready with tech to intercept Blackberry services source :: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/telecom/Telcos-ready-with-tech-to-intercept-Blackberry-services/articleshow/6816572.cms Looks like RIM is nearing the solution. RIM should have obliged at the instance of first request instead playing global and corporate politics so long with Indian Govt. The issue higlighted above by RCOM can easily be solved with the help of operator's private key imho.
  9. @Kanagadeepan Do you have photon+ coverage in Sivakasi? TATA's website still says only Chennai & Coimbatore in TN.
  10. Not true. Till date, Telcordia license(MNP Interconnection) is yet to be revoked by DoT. Only clearance given by FIPB has been revoked.
  11. As said by communication minister the implementation actually starts partially on Nov. 1 in Harayana. As detailed in the schedule of the telecomtalk for Karnataka, the implementation in any circle is not on a single day but in phased manner operator-wise. Hence complete MNP in Haryana may take 10 days to complete but it acutally starts on Nov. 1. In that sense Karnataka schedule given by Telecomtalk may also be correct for that state.
  12. on the related news, Telcos need environment nod for towers source :: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/telecom/Telcos-need-environment-nod-for-towers/articleshow/6814190.cms
  13. Here is the link to actual manufacturer of the device. http://www.epicom.co.kr/02_sub/02_sub.html
  14. All regulators to get 5-yr tenures Law ministry to work out amendments to respective laws source :: http://www.financialexpress.com/news/All-regulators-to-get-5-yr-tenures/702414/ If the above move materializes then TRAI chairman's tenure will be of 5-yr instead of current 3-yr term. Good move by Govt. It'll bring more stability at the regulator level and TRAI will get more powerful with more long term policy roadmaps.
  15. I've come across the above article but it looks to be not true. May be some sort of paid campaign by vested interests. I feel we can trust what our communication minister has told(MNP by first week of November) today instead of above article which has malicious intent.
  16. So guys, now you don't worry, TATA has released similar reduction in tariff for existing customers too but asking you to pay for long term in advance. Pay for 5 months, get 6 months Pay for 9 months, get 12 months http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-usb.aspx (see section "Pay Less, Get More!")
  17. As per news runing on TN local channel, Telcom Minister A. Raja says MNP will be implemented in the 1st week of November.
  18. No....... I'm expecting offnet video calls at max 1.2p/sec with onnet being much cheaper. BTW, does TRAI has any ceiling on termination charges for video calls??
  19. Dear Members, What is your expectation from TATA DOCOMO on tariff for video calls? I want it to be 1.2p/sec max.
  20. I hope you're from WB, the same has been higlighted earlier by Sougata in the following post.
  21. Now it's official, 6th November 2010 is the launch date. 6th November 2010, Saturday is going to be red letter day in the history of Indian Telecommunication. Count down runing on TATA DOCOMO 3G website for launch. http://tatadocomo.com/life-on-3g.aspx
