  5. Now the plan is available in TATA website. http://www.tataindicom.com/t-prepaid-rechargevouchers.aspx Daily rental of Re.1 is disappointing and it makes this plan expensive.

  9. India all set to auction licences for mobile TV services; no bidding required for UASL holders source :: http://telecomtiger.com/fullstory.aspx?passfrom=breakingnews&storyid=8277&section=S128 :clap: I always felt Department of Information & Broadcasting (DoIB) works much better than Department of Telecommunication (DoT) I hope this auction may happen well before 3G auction given the track record of DoT Fortunately this auction is handled by DoIB
  10. Mobile Tv Services

    Dear Friends, Mobile TV services are entirely different from cellular services. They work independent of one another. Cellular services are 2-way communication between tower and cellphone in monocast mode(There is need for establishing separate channel for each and every cellphone which tower services) . Mobile TV services are mostly 1-way communication from tower to handheld device (cellphone/Mobile TV device) and works in broadcast mode(no need for establishing individual channel for individual devices). Mobile TV services are like FM radio broadcast and can work in independent device or can be integrated into cellular device. The technologies which can be used for mobile TV services are DVB-H (European), MediaFLO(American) , ISDB-Tmm (Japanese) and DMB (South Korea). We've to wait and see which technology gets traction in India. Live TV streaming which you’re getting in 2G/3G is a way of pulling broadcast services through cellular services. This method of pulling is not spectrum efficient and it can never match quality offered by direct broadcasting technologies of mobile TV services.
  11. Looks like TRAI is keen on sticking to the March 31st deadline. http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/Regulations/91/MNPRegulation_amendment28jan10.pdf
  12. Please follow the below link for comparison between TATA Docomo and BSNL. http://telecomtalk.info/tata-docomo-versus-bsnl-gprs/18118/ As for as default plan(without any rental) is concerned, Reliance leads with 50p/MB which is better than BSNL's 3p/10KB(=Re.3/MB) As for as unlimited plan(without FUP) is concerned, still BSNL leads with Rs. 249 which is better than Reliance's Rs.299
  13. TTSL remains unbeatable for fifth consecutive month TTSL is inching closer to Idea in mobile subscribers. :clap: RCOM as expected finished second this month due to 'simply reliance' initiative. source :: http://telecomtiger.com/Wireless_fullstory.aspx?passfrom=breakingnews&storyid=8219&section=S216 Previous months' topics.

  15. The issue here is not when IPV6 started but about when IPV4 adresses will get exhausted. Still there're many ISPs in the world who does not support IPV6 in their n/w. It's warning for them.
  16. The information provided in the first post(as per article from Telecomtiger) of the thread is wrong with respect to numbers especially about BSNL. I¡¦ve removed those wrong informative attachments. Here is the official link to the subscriber data as on Dec 31st. http://www.trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/trai/upload/PressReleases/721/Pr27jan2010no8.pdf From the first look it may look like TATA & Idea are closer to BSNL. In actual, BSNL does not operate in lucrative market of Mumbai & Delhi. In that case we've to add MTNL subscribers to BSNL for comparing against other operators. BSNL and MTNL have monopoly in wireline segment which we're not considering. If we consider all the above points and calculate the strength of PSU, they're way ahead of even Reliance. Very important milestone in the history of PSU(BSNL+MTNL) is fast approaching, they're nearing the magical figure of 100 million. In fact they might have crossed that number when I'm posting this post. Kudos to MTNL and BSNL for achieving this stupendous landmark in the hyper-competitive market. :clap: Still I feel they can do more.... Another point, if we include LL subscribers, TATA had already overtaken Idea. The following is the consolidated list of telecom subscribers between different companies and their respective positions. 1) Airtel --> 2,988,546 (LL) + 118,864,031(WL) = 121,852,577 2) BSNL+MTNL --> 28,095,939(MTNL-WL) + 3,491,244 (MTNL-LL) + 62,861,214 (BSNL-WL) + 4,875,913 (BSNL-LL) = 99,324,310 3) Reliance --> 1,164,793 (LL) + 93,795,613 (WL) = 94,960,406 4) Vodafone --> 91,401,959 5) TATA --> 1,103,172 (LL) + 57,329,449(WL) = 58,432,621 6) Idea --> 57,611,872
  17. BlackBerry Tour2 9650 Coming to Verizon Feb. 3? Source :: http://www.wirelessandmobilenews.com/2010/01/tour-of-blackberry-tour2-9650-coming-to-verizon-feb-3.html
  18. For long calls, there’s no substitute for old “pay per call plan” and this plan keeps that advantage intact. This plan has been introduced in response to the feedback TATA Indicom received for its old pay per call plan. The issue with the old pay per call plan is that plan extremely fails against the pay per sec plan wrt short calls. This new Flexi plan addresses that issue to most wrt to local calls. The loss(Vs 1p/s plan) is now limited to 63 seconds and falls only in the 1st and 2nd min of the call. (See the attached sheet) But wrt STD calls, it fails miserably again and the loss (Vs 1p/s plan) occurs as much as in 262 seconds and spread is also huge. (loss occurs in 1st,2nd,3rd,6th and 7th min of the call). (See the attached sheet) This plan can meet its intention only if the rate of pulse for STD also reduced to Re.1 instead of Rs.2
  19. TAMIL NADU PONGAL OFFER Msaver 198 local calls at 29p STD calls at 49p life log validity
  20. Coolpad Latest Offering

    offtopic: Why you guys always associate pink with women? Why, Where and when pink started getting associated with women? I'm a guy but like pink colour. Am I normal? :confuse:
  21. Mts Pongal Offer

    No. It's not there in Virgin. Virgin charges Re.1 as daily rental. This is the currently industry's best tariff for non-roaming users. You've to pay monthly rental of Rs.30 for that particular Msaver. For sure they can reduce the roaming charges in MTS circles Rome can't be built in a day !! Just hold on for a while.
  22. Source :: http://telecomtalk.info/bsnl-s-3g-mobile-services-in-50-cities-of-maharashtra-goa-soon/16541/ If the above article to be trusted, then it’s great news……. Only pay data charges and enjoy free calls…..
  23. I was always of the opinion that operators won't allow Fring/SKype to be used in mobiles directly although they may allow it in laptops/desktops(when phone used as modem). May be I'm wrong.
  24. The only bad thing about the plan is roaming SMS at 80p/SMS.
