  1. source :: http://telecomtiger.com/3G_fullstory.aspx?storyid=7655&section=S208 The point raised by Mittal is very interesting. He's really scared of competition. He feels that available 2 slots in Delhi and Gujarat will be mustured away from Airtel by its competitors participating in auction. But still I support that idea in order to avoid scarcity premium if Govt is 100% sure of the availability of spectrum by June. If Govt. has even 0.1% doubt about the availability by June its better not to auction. Scarcity premium is better than auctioning unavailable spectrum which will lead to series of litigations.

  4. MTS Launch

MTS has MSaver 30 which gives 1p/2sec for local calls and local MTS-MTS 1p/4 sec in their new circles. They're also providing the same on FRC for first 2 months free in Karnataka. Great way to go for the new operator. I admire the way they're taking on Docomo. They've also launched EvDO cards at Rs. 2999/- which is Rs. 500 cheaper than TATA, Reliance and BSNL
  5. In yet another simplification, TATA DOCOMO prepaid customers can now enjoy Full Talk Time. source :: http://press-releases.techwhack.com/42678-full-talk-time Good improved version compared to Reliance which has "Additional Talktime for local calls/sms will be valid for 7 days" clause in the similar offering.

  16. MTNL has reduced the tariff for 3G sim cards. The SIM & FRC is only Rs.101 Tariff: Local onnet includes Delhi (voice & video) - 20p/min Local offnet (voice & video) - 50p/min STD onnet&offnet (voice &video) - 75p/min MTNL trying to catch on first mover advantage. http://mumbai.mtnl.net.in/3gweb/3g_prepaid.html

Still you need it.... Have you got it from someone else......
  18. This move by TATA will certainly open up can of worms at the policy level and at competition level. At competition level, I feel only Reliance can match it if not better it. Even for Reliance its very difficult for the below reason. The gap between termination charge (20p/min) and sales price (1p/min(if call ends within 2 seconds) -- 30p/min)in this STV is just 10p max and that's the reason they're getting Rs.49.9(substracting service tax Rs.5.1 from voucher) in advance. At the policy level, DoT and TRAI should be proactive and try to reduce the termination charge to 0.2p/sec (works outs to 12p/min)immediately. It is just ridiculous when the pulse to customer is in seconds, the termination charge pulse is in minute. This is the only way so that new operators will have some gap to breath in. As usual anti-customer Cartel (Airtel,Vodafone and Idea) will shed crocodile tears which policy makers must ignore it. Hope people in TRAI and DoT are listening.
  19. BSNL has started distributing 3G Data cards. I hope theses are HSDPA cards and can provide speed upto 7.2 Mbps Below is the list of distribution centres. http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=489
  20. BSNL takes Reliance head-on. Introduces all calls & SMS at 49p/min. No idea about roaming charges. http://bsnl.co.in/newsdetailed.php?news_id=488
  21. Follow the link below to look for Chennai circle's tariff structure. http://chennai.bsnl.co.in/News/stv49_041109.htm
  22. I completely didn't understand your point. Reliance never gives local at 30p/min. This one from TATA is ultimate. Local at 30ps that too under 2 second pulse. Just terrific.......Can any other operator match ??
  23. All information about this plan is available in the below link http://www.airtel.in/freedomplan/ For each circle the recharge amount is different. You can have a look in the above link(Plan Details)
  24. I don't think its enough to retain customers. Simple arithmetic, currently Airtel has about 25% of the total mobile subscribers. It practically means an Airtel subscriber's 75% of the calls is outside the n/w. So the key for retention is reducing charge for offnet calls which still Airtel has not achieved.
  25. Celebration Plan Prepaid

Dear Friends, Don't forget 10 to 7 @ 30 ps for all india calls. Nobody else in the market is providing even offnet local calls at 30 ps forget about the STD offnet calls at 30ps. Kudos to TATA on this aspect. But disappointed on roaming charges. TATA indicom has pan India n/w so certainly they can provide roaming charges at 60ps. I completely understand that they cannot reduce roaming charges in TATA docomo since they don't have pan India n/w. Now I can understand the dilemma. If they pitch TATA indicom cheaper than TATA docomo then they'll have reverse migration which they don't want and at the same time they don't want to loose their CDMA subsribers to rival n/w. Quite an interesting puzzle to solve for pricing experts at TATA.
