what is the baseband chipset of this model?
-
Where in the product note you find the term R-Surf?
-
Guys if this phone doesn't support R-Surf then its completely and purely waste. Its better for you to go for Motorola's k1m or L7C (both are 3G phones). My kind advice for the people who are in verge of investing more than Rs. 5000 in TATA/Reliance handsets. Please ensure the following features are available in your handset. 1)EvDO 2)Mobile Internet 3G is just 3 months away. If any of the above is not present I would rate your investment as really waste.
-
There are 2 versions of K1m . One for America and another for Asia. source :: <a href="http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Page=1&Id=2570" target="_blank">http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Page=1&Id=2570</a> I beleive what has been released is Asia version. If its so then there is no EvDO support but it has 2 MP camera. superman2ster can throw some light over this issue.

Does it support R-Surf? I too have general doubt...Whether BREW based LG handsets support R-Surf? If it supports can we download Opera Mini and surf?
-
I would like to know whether k1m supports the following. 1)R-Surf 2)Video Streaming 3)EvDO

Another head-ache for GSM operators. Now they(HSDPA 3G opertors) must share 2.5GHz spectrum with wimax 3G operators. So 3G has 3 options 1)HSDPA 2)EvDO 3)WiMAX The startup-line is clear we'll see who wins the race. I hope all new mobile operators will become green-field WiMax operators. http://www.laptoplogic.com/news/detail.php?id=3485 http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2007/1...02052030400.htm official link:: http://www.itu.int/newsroom/press_releases/2007/30.html

Wimax Is Now Officially Part Of 3g Standard
kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
This is really really a bad news coming out. DoT unlikely to allocate 1900 to CDMA cos soon. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/N...how/2491531.cms I expect DoT to sincerely look into this issue at the earliest and remove any anomalies associated. Allocation of the above spectrum for 3 different technologies(1.9-EvDO, 2.1-HSDPA,2.5-WiMax) on the onset is the key factor of technology neutral approach of the DoT. DoT should ensure that all 3 frequency spectrums listed above is available for auction when it opens 3G spectrum bidding. By ensuring this position we can give all 3 technologies right platform to compete in true sense of neutrality. Either delaying 1.9Ghz for EvDO or 2.5Ghz for wimax is really bad thing in the technology neutral point of view. -
Wimax Is Now Officially Part Of 3g Standard
kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/3G_Spe...how/2484201.cms This is really a very intresting and spectrum efficient head start for 3G. WiMax on 2.5 Ghz HSPDA on 2.1 Ghz EvDO on 1.9 Ghz All 3 provided same level of frequency. We can see for real who is really a spectrum efficent technology. We can see now a true winner. -
Tatas may join race for GSM spectrum myiris.com - October 22, 2007 After Reliance Communications (RCom), the Tata Group is believed to be planning to enter GSM mobile telephony sector along with its existing CDMA services. Tata`s move, comes after RCom received the government`s nod for similar services. This could trigger off an intense battle between the CDMA players and the existing GSM mobile operators like Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular. http://www.myiris.com/newsCentre/newsPopup...;secID=livenews

Cci Tells Dot Not To Drag Feet On Number Portability
kesav replied to KumaarShah's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Every Indian soul cries for it. Every Indian telephone user begs for it. TRAI and CCI mentions it every time they're allowed to speak. But still DoT is unwilling to heed it. Only last resort is to approach Prime Minister straight away. Influential people in forum can start the initiative. I'm ready to support it within the capacity I can. -
Find the attached .jpg. You'll appreciate the reliance's comedy. source :: http://www.rcom.co.in/Communications/Netco...fs_details.html

Thanks honest for confirming. Now one more UPDATE. Got this excellent speed in Pune Expresshighway From DEHUROAD to KATRAJ GHAT while in car on pune by-pass road. Except few DEADSPOT areas. Airtel EDGE Rocks while roaming too. Edge in Pune is for sure. Will post if good speed is found in more cities. Visiting Belgaum city next week for 2/3 days. SAD to say, few bad reports about Airtel Data Cards in Bangalore from my technical friends circle. They get similar or slower speed than reliance in Bangalore. Dont have much details. May be some timeslot issues. C Mahendra You accpet your own mistake because of fear of failure. I know what you've been barging about so long and so lone could only be sporadic and location dependent. I request you to resist from posting these kind of information which comes out of your inability to test at many locations. Forum is for whole India put it here only if you're sure that its applicable for at least more than 10% of India. Speaking before testing is your trait and never push it over me.

cons :: 1) No flash light ( No night photgraphy & No torch) -> Missing really a nice feature 2) No MMS -> missing useful feature for sharing photos/videos Hope this could be solved by Reliance through R-World Pros :: 1) For the first time in LG CDMA history it supports video streaming source :: In manual, there's a menu called Mobile TV In product note, there's a term called 'Streaming VOD'
-
That statement about Airtel Edge is completely false and I can authentically state that because I live in silicon valley of India. This performance could have been a sporadic nature and that too would have been limited to claimant's area alone due to less density of Airtel subscribers.

This issue is partially rectified. In Maharastra & Goa circle now its unlimited for Rs.1000/month source :: http://www.tataindicom.com/t-personal-inte...urf-tariff.aspx

Airtel's offer will always highly(foolishly) priced. Its time that we stop discussing about Airtel here. I'm waiting for fitting reply from TATA/Relaince/BSNL.

Is this phone EvDO ready? If yes, which version 0 or A ?

Product note please....

Largest deployment of WiMax in the world. source :: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/N...how/2426978.cms

source :: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/N...how/2410035.cms Forget about COAI comments they've no other business than to keep making irrelevant noise. What we've in India as world's lowest call rate is only becuse of CDMA operators. Throughout last 5 years I've never seen a single technological development supported by COAI. Everytime TRAI proposes something good wrt technology or tariff COAI disposes but later abides due to force. Neglecting the COAI comments(the reasons we know..),This is an very very intresting development. Hope this help us to enjoy again 2 different technologies preying on each other well into 3G ecosystem. For customes multiple technologies and competition is always great.

If both swift180 and platinum costs Rs.1500, who'll go for swift180?

Looks like pen drive..... Its challenge to more popular TATA's Plug2Surf Whiz pen drive. That's good to hear.....Competition is getting hotter......
