‘Joshi flouted every norm, must resign' source :: http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article1773577.ece Joshi must resign for basic reason of leaking the draft report to media. It's against the secrecy oath which he took on being the member for parliament. Draft reports are confidential and only the final report is for public gaze. It's also imperative upon parliament to censure the media which have carried it clearly knowing what they're doing is illegal. This draft report is actually Joshi's report and not PAC's report. :rofl_200: The most hilarious part of the report is it indicts Raja without even questioning him once. How on earth can one indict a person without hearing his view point?? What banana justice is this???? The draft report only contains political analysis and not socio-economic analysis on CAG report. The only purpose for existence of PAC is to analyse the CAG report with socio-economic lens but that sole purpose is entirely lost. With these crappy works, it's better all the committees of parliaments be dismantled and all the reports better be placed on the house directly for discussion. At least then public will be able to know whether direction of analysis is correct from the start. This is totally disgusting and sheer waste of time for last 3-4 months.

DoT committee gives nod to one-off excess spectrum charges source :: http://www.telegeography.com/products/commsupdate/articles/2011/04/26/dot-committee-gives-nod-to-one-off-excess-spectrum-charges/ It's good news to hear.... As expected looting anti-competitive incumbents started their propaganda machine to deny legitimate due to our national exchequer. Let us hope DoT shows strength to stand against imminent paid media campaign which will now start 24*7(fueled by incumbent telecom operators) against DoT and TRAI.

TDSAT Directs TRAI To Rework Telecom Interconnect Charges
kesav replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
After long time, TRAI finally releases consultation paper on IUC (Interconnection Usage Charges). comments by 18th May, 2011. Counter-comments by 25th May, 2011. http://www.trai.gov.in/PR_IUC.pdf http://www.trai.gov.in/CP_IUC.pdf Pre-consultation comments :: http://www.trai.gov.in/ConsultationPapers_list_year.asp (click Responses received from the stakeholders on the Pre -Consultation Paper on “Review of Interconnections Usages Charges (IUC)) Let us sincerely hope at least this time TRAI will stick to its deadlines without any extensions. TRAI must realize this issue is quite pending item and needs to be introduced at the earliest to save the new entrants which in turn saves the competition. I hope this time pro-incumbents friendly termination charge is either abolished completely or reduced to very small value like 5p/min. -

Vodafone Has Failed To Produce Pact With Hutchinson: I-t Dept
kesav replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Utter non-sense.... Sheer crocodile tears to put emotional pressure on the jury before the verdict. Vodafone India is literally minting money in comparison with their any other operations in the world. They keep on under quoting year after year to save spectrum charges and other levies....and also to create hypothesis of fear for new entrants.... -

The ICON PRO, an EV-DO + GSM Smartphone, and the TWILIGHT 7, a 7” EV-DO/HSPA Tablet, leverage Qualcomm’s chipset technology and the Open Market Handset (OMH™) initiative to deliver Indonesian consumers the unparalleled flexibility to choose any mobile network, regardless of technology. source :: http://ivio.com/news.php?id=6 This article proves that DE88 is not a EVDO/HSDPA device but just EVDO/GSM-2G device. Hence, DE88 will not join the club of this thread(Dual Mode 3G handsets).

Your understanding on USIM is correct. Let me clarify on your understanding of OMH. Future RUIM is going to be a smart card on which you can store SIM(GSM-2G), USIM(GSM-3G/4G) or CSIM(CDMA-2G/3G) application either separately or collectively. It is the basis on which dual-mode(GSM/CDMA) phones with single slot works depending on the type of card inserted either GSM or CDMA. There are even flexi-mode phones like GSM+GSM or GSM+CDMA. Here again one slot is RUIM complaint. Since OMH is already based on RUIM, it's easy to load any of the application (CSIM or SIM or USIM) in to it. PS:: SIM can work on GSM-3G/4G with less security. USIM will also work for GSM-2G

TATA Indicom Roaming Rate Increased?
kesav replied to chitshar's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
@chitshar, What you've said is true...I can confirm for TN circle. Even I've received SMS regarding new Rs. 599 voucher with FUL. :NOTriste: I believe these changes will take effect only if you recharge with any of the STVs. It's really bad time of TI prepaid roamers.... :'( :'( -
Really a great news.... Already you've few OMH Huawei handsets in other markets as seen in the below link. http://omhworld.com/devices/25?field_device_type_value_many_to_one=All&field_device_manufacturer_nid=95&field_lab_tested_value_many_to_one=OMH+Accepted&field_device_technology_value_many_to_one=All&term_node_tid_depth=All&title= May be they'll launch those handsets here in India.
-
Below are my opinion, ready for amendments... Only hurdle for OMH will be USA & Canada. Even in USA, Verizon will not be hurdle from now on since their upcoming phones must have USIM slot for LTE. Verizon's 4G phones have USIM slot but the phone reads only the LTE settings from USIM but CDMA 1x/EVDO settings are pre-programmed in the handsets. I feel these 4G phones can be tweaked to read both CDMA 1x/EVDO and LTE settings from USIM and certified for OMH before being released in OMH countries as OMH devices. Sprint will continue to be a hurdle since their 4G(Wimax) settings is also pre-programmed in the handsets along with CDMA 1x/EVDO settings.

Toll-free Numbers From MTS Mobile?
kesav replied to abkumar's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
As per regulation, all numbers starting with 1800 must be toll-free from any telephone(mobile/landline). You can straight away talk to nodal officer and he'll give you an answer. -
Now the BIG question is which model? GSM or CDMA or both...... :Sorprendido:

Now, the phone is visible on Motorola India website. http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/IN-EN/Consumer-Products-and-Services/Mobile-Phones/MOTOROLA-MILESTONE-XT800-IN-EN

Updated: Pesky SMSs/Calls: Major relief to users from March 21, 2011
kesav replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
shocking news..... It's pure ridiculous to demand 10 months when private operators can do it in few weeks. If BSNL/MTNL has asked for say 3 months, it makes sense in relation to number of exchanges they operate... "10 Months!!!!" is totally unjustifiable delaying tactics funded by telemarketers in the background. :ranting: It clearly shows now telemarketers are under seize since separate series will create havoc to their business. They're stooping to such a shameful level by fanning irrational issues by bribing officials in BSNL/MTNL. Why not DoT and Govt agencies setup fast track approval mechanism taking the seriousness of this issue??? It's just updating equipments in exchanges and certainly do not involve any field work like digging grounds or building premises/towers. :bash: -
Airtel Shuts Down Mobile Service In Manipur source :: http://telecomtalk.info/airtel-shuts-down-mobile-service-in-manipur/64255/ It's utter shocking news !!! For the last 5 years, I always had this fear. Telecom towers are the easiest target for the anti-social elements to create immediate socio-economic impact with very minimal man effort. Let us pray and hope Manipur govt swings in to action before other operators move in this direction. Central govt needs to support state govt to bring back normalcy at the earliest since telecom service has become basic service like food, shelter and water. Powerful reaction which Manipur govt takes now should leave reverberating fear impact on other anti-social elements across the country.

Now, TATA's EVDO coverage has reached 127 cities/towns..... Still, TATA is not keeping pace with even MTS in its EVDO expansion. Just forget about RCOM which is way ahead in coverage. http://www.tataphoton.com/tata-photon-prepaid.aspx (click availability tab) Another good thing is TATA has started showing coverage map for each city/town in the lines of RCOM.
