Rcom Cdma was deployed on 800 mhz while rcom 4g is getting deployed on 850 mhz(band 5) by replacing the cdma 800mhz band with it.

Yes. But besides this 850 Mhz,   they are cooking something with 800 Mhz too.

As mentioned in official documents, "... sharing of spectrum in 800 MHz with Reliance Jio...

" SHARING OF SPECTRUM IN 800 MHZ BAND ACROSS 17 CIRCLES "
    http://www.rcom.co.in/Rcom/aboutus/ir/pdf/RCOM-and-Jio-Spectrum -MR-18012016.pdf

    ...

  2. When they say 800 Mhz and 850 Mhz, do they refer the same band or different bands? These two deffer from each other in numbers but, sometimes, they are used together.

Now when Rcom and Rjio have decided to share their spectrum and infrastructure, we know that 850 Mhz, 1800 Mhz and 2300 Mhz are the key frequencies we should keep in mind while buying new handsets/devices. But these days it is also mentioned that Rcom has freed 800 Mhz to deploy LTE services in it. Rcom also claims that it is the first and only operator that has nationwide 800/850 Mhz spectrum to launch LTE. So, should we also keep 800 Mhz in mind while buying new devices?

Once they switch, do I know that it has been switched OR I'll be hanging somewhere in the middle guessing why someone is unable to reach me :(

A few people complained that they were hanging somewhere in the middle for a short period of time. But for me, it did not take time. Everything was alright till afternoon and, in the evening, when I was unable to make any call (despite full network), I inserted new sim in the phone and found that it was working.

Thank you. After sending the SMS for 4G upgradation, how long does it take for the old SIM to be deactivated and the new SIM to be activated?

It may take from few hours to few days. But your old SIM will keep working until it happens. (If CDMA network is still active in your circle).

Strange but my outgoing is still active on both nos reliance and idea . Now whom will i pay next month billemoji12.pngemoji12.pngemoji12.pngemoji12.pngemoji1305.png

I am afraid you may need  pay to both. Go to reliance store and apply for closing your account. Pay all unpaid amount and get a no dues slip.

HTC 510 sprint will support gsm????

How, I don't understand, isn't it CDMA only handset??

Yes, it is. Many Sprint and Verizon phones now have SIM card slots. The SIM cards are generally there for Sprint's and Verizon's 4G LTE networks. The phones may also have SIM slots to support foreign GSM networks as "world phones".

You also try in any 3g dongle,it will connect as shown in the picture. Btw I have got 1gb data earlier in EVDO which I used in evdo mode completely. You also try atleast one time and tell the result here.My sim is from April lot only and no sim patch has been done.

I have two sims: one of 4/16 lot and the other of 5/16 lot. Both sims are not patched but 2G data works.

3G dongle trial: First I tried 4/16 sim. It works on EDGE. Changed setting to WCDMA only. Latched to Aircel H. Tried to connect. No service. But after I tried again and again, to my surprise, it got connected. :)

Then I tried 5/16 sim with the same settings. No service. :(

Is it a guess that HTC desire 510 will work or is it confirmed to work in LTE mode on Band 5? If it works then HTC desire 816(Sprint) will work too?

HTC 816 will work on LTE 1800 which will be shared by RJIo. Unfortunately it will not work on 850 Mhz or 2300 Mhz. HTC 510 sprint will also not work on these band but will on 3G and 2G bands. However it shouldl work on forthcoming BSNL 4G on 2500 Mhz. It depends on version. This chart is for HTC  Desire 510.

Reliance 4g sim is connecting in "WCDMA only" mode.Even when there is no data balance, still also it is working and no deduction is being done from the main balance.I can't check more because I have very high balance in sim and doesn't want to take risk. Btw I am taliking about UPEAST where there is no 3g of Reliance. So guys having less balance in sims can check this out :D

    reliance3g.jpg

You are lucky being able to use data in 'WCDMA only' mode. In UP(E), Reliance provide 3G service through Aircel network. I am able to connect to Aircel H+ but without data tranfer. However I am able to use 2G data with super slow speed.

To check balance, I send SMS 'MBAL' to 55333. It shows 'no data balance' It is, I think, just because there is no data in data balance but There is 1GB data in promo data balance in 'promo data balance' which is invisible to us. 10 GB 4G data will be provided when 4G network will be live.

So, as for now, for me, Reliance 4G is Reliance 34G    :D

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (Sprint CDMA version). I just received the sim card from reliance (they've sent it through a courier service). After going through several messages,

I'm confused and have a basic question:  Will I be able to use the existing phone (Galaxy Note 3 - Sprint CDMA version) after migrating to the 4G SIM from existing postpaid 3G plan? I have another phone with the same plan but, the phone is a HTC 510 Boost Mobile phone 4G-LTE (can I continue to use these phones?).

    Regards

    -PK

Check your model number. If it is N9000, only 3G network will work. If it is N9005, all networks will work. But if is SPH-L710, it will not work. However HTC Desire 510 will work on 4G network. (only on selected bands, depends on versions) This chart is for HTC desire 510.

My office is near Vijaycross Roads, Ahmedabad, after downgrading from CDMA to GSM, many of my clients complained that my mobile is switched off. But in reality, mobile have no network. If by God's grace, I receives call in my office, I need to come out of my office to talk, else caller will get my voice in pieces.
Totally help less. No port code is provided by Rcom.
No way to file complaint, as CC executive have single reply, server is down, plz call after 2 hours. And this is the only answer after every two hours.
I don't think there will be any improvement in calling after 4G network gets live, as 4G network is only for data and for voice it fall back to worst RGSM network.

It is probably because they are broadcasting signals at 1800 Mhz. Things may improve later but for now, you can use some signal booster antenna.

BSNL started at 123 (or 139 ?). But now it is 198 for 1GB.

Meanwhile I found two interesting data packs from Airtel : 30MB for 22Rs with unlimited validity, 105MB for 71Rs with unlimited validity

Yeah, quite interesting for unlimited validity.

Sorry, I could not understand the meaning of 'started at 123'.

198 is true but another option for 1 GB is 155 (15 days). Actually, there are lots of to choose from:

Thanks for that info. However many say that BSNL has patchy network in urban areas.

I am using BSNL since 2009. It has better network coverage than most other telecom operators . I used rcdma as my first number but carried bsnl number on the go. In delhi, it becomes mtnl and network coverage problem occurs only in delhi metro subway. In my city most people have BSNL as their first number. However, it's EVDO service is not available everywhere.

I would still wait for the official announcement before making a move. I believe RCom has done market survey before deciding on tariff plans.

I will consider to move to Telenor. Any idea about its 2G speed?

When I started using Telenor 2G years ago, it was 40 KB/s. Now a days it is caped at 10 KB/s at peak hours. Tata Docomo and Vodafone are also good at 2G. But BSNL gives 3G speed almost at 2G rates.
