Logged-in after a long time in this fourm. I will send the Wimax latching s/w via e-mail to those who requested thru PM. Wimax is cool and 100% operational. No issues at all.

Are you still using Wimax in Perumbavoor? Which area exactly? My place is around 2km from Perumbavoor and wanted to know whether it would be feasible. Yeah.. I am still using it there.. but due to some reason , my CPE is pointed to Kalady Tower :-) Within and around 2km of PBVR , the connection would be feasible. ( As I was getting the PBVR singnal , though I stay ~5 km away ).

All, BSNL has started online bill payment facility for WiMax billsl. Check- portal.bsnl.in Thanks,
-
Hi, Now Wimax online payment facility not available. I am going to BSNL cash counter for paying the bill Previously I did the online payment when our SSA has their own online bill presentation and payment facility. Now BSNL has a central system for all SSA's in India. Donno why they are not introducing the Wimax bill through their new portal. ( http://portal.bsnl.in ) Check with your local BSNL TRA unit ( Contact Information should be in any of the landline bills ) to know about the a/c number , bill details etc. Cheers !!

CINR 35-37 is very good. I think you are pretty close to BSNL wimax tower. :-) As far as I know , there is no online bill pay portal for BSNL Kerala wimax customers.

1) yes ! I am getting a download speed of > 1mbps usually with torrents downloads. 2) Per my knowledge , BSNL does not provide USB dongle for Wimax ( Discontinued due to some issues seems). They have only Indoor CPE and Outdoor CPE. Before giving connection , they will check the feasibility by visiting your premises with the equiments. see my screen name ,. its Narrow_Band_Minus ( Antonym to Broad Band Plus ) , a unsatisfied customer of reliance netconnect. I am very happy with BSNL Wimax :-)

Ernakulam BSNL has released Software upgrade & Wimax CPE engineering software for ICOMM Outdoor CPE. This patch is helpful to latch the CPE to a particular BSID(Tower) Frequency. Very useful when using the Wimax connection away from the transmitting tower ( beyond 4 kms ) where you experience frequent disconnection - reconnection. If we latch the CPE to tower , scan method will be CAPL, History & Neighbour scanning will not happen. Currently I have upgraded to this software and getting continuous connection. If any of you need the s/w , let me know , I will share with u e-mail. Latching to a particular sector_V1.pdf

What was the CINR & RSSI when you were getting 2 Mbps ? Current RSSI value is low. It should be somewhat around -52 to -60 dBm. Change the direction of CPE to see if the BSID ( Base Station ID ) changes with a new CINR and RSSI.

Please see this post : http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__202194 to see the schematic digram of BSNL Wimax connection. BSNL do not provide router.

All, Visiting this forum after a long time !! Due to some personal reason I myself shifted my Wimax connection from Panampillynagar (Ernakulam,Kerala) to Perumbavoor (Ernakulam,Kerala) Telephone exchange area. I was sure that Wimax is operational in Perumbvaoor. With simply placing the outdoor CPE in terrace , it was not catching any signals. Then I fixed the CPE to the TV antenna pipe. Voila !!!! its started picking singnals with RSSI -85 dBm & CINR 10-13 dB with a BSID : 00:02:73:84:6f:BE. Yeah.. with this merely ok ok values of RSSI and CINR , I was getting about 1 Mbps torrent download speed. Things went wrong from Nov 13th :-( I was not getting connected to the above BSID. Instead its trying to catch up some weak signals ( RSSI -100 dBm & CINR 0-3 dB ) from BSID's 00:02:73:84:2F:93 , 00:02:73:84:2F:7E & 00:02:73:84:2F:68. Since signal was too weak I was not getting authenticated and connected to internet. Tried to rotate the CPE, but no luck. I had one JTO's phone number ( who came for feasibility study ). Called him and told the issue. He inturn given contac tnumber of a JTO who sits in Ernakulam central Wimax Switch room. From switch room , I came to know that the BSID 00:02:73:84:6f:BE , which I formerly connected was of Kalady exchange's second sector is down due to some issue :-(. The JTO told that , this issue may take some time to fix. So waiting for the fix from BSNL's side. Let's see how things going.. :-)

Beat Airtel FUP - Got A True Unlimited Broadband Plan Finally
Narrow_Band_Minus replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
This is too gud. -
There's no website to check the total usage of Wimax. You can use some freeware like networx or some tool to to check the usage.
-
Cool. So welcome to Wimax Family.. Hope u would hv received ur login credentials by now.

I am using rented modem. Rent Rs.40/- per month. I dont think so BSNL providing USB Wimax device. Per my knowledge , they provide only Indoor CPE & OutDoor CPE. For Wimax , Billing happens monthly basis. If u take connection on Mar 25, your 6 days usage for March will be charged in next month's bill.
-
Thats amazing speed for its price. Are u using the 999rs unlimited plan? I'm also from Kochi and planning to take Wimax connection..What will be the initial costs for device and installation?? True... BSNL Wimax is very good. There's no Rs.999 plan now. They have reduced the rental to Rs.750. I am using this plan. Visit the neareat BSNL CSC ( customer Serice Center ) and apply for Wimax. Some one from BSNL come to your premises and check the feasibility. Usually they will get indoor CPE for testing. If getting good speed and reliable signal strength , go for indoor , otherwise opt for outdoor CPE. You may have to pay one month rental as advance , which will be adjusted in your first bill.
