2G Scam: Supreme Court Quashes 122 Licences issued in 2008
KumaarShah replied to csmart's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
IMHO, If violations began in 2001 or 2003 or any other year as claimed by Sibal Uncle (or is it Uncle Sam) does it give the Congress Party a licence to continue with the same mistake and then claim the predecessors were indulging in it and so we also did the same? So going by their above argument, the Congress and the DMK party leaders will also justify corruption, bribery, murders, rapes etc etc as their predecessors might have done it earlier. They will also say that having money in Swiss Banks is perfectly legal and correct as the earlier people before them might have done the same. This argument (by Kapil, MMS, SG, RG, MK, AR etc etc) is ridiculous to say the least. -

2G case: Court issues notice to CBI Courtesy: NDTV New Delhi: A Delhi court today issued notice to the CBI, asking it to file a detailed report on whether its probe in the 2G spectrum case covers the aspect of national security as raised by Janta Party chief Subramanian Swamy in his private complaint seeking prosecution of former Telecom Minister A Raja. "Issue notice to the CBI to file its detailed report of the investigation being carried out by it and whether it covers the aspect of national security as raised by Subramanian Swamy in the present case," Special CBI Judge Pradeep Chaddah said. During the hearing, the court queried if they can still proceed in the case before it in the wake of Raja's arrest by the CBI. Seeking CBI's response in the matter, the court posted the hearing for February 23. "I am of the opinion that this court should not proceed for the time being with this matter", the judge said while issuing notice to the CBI. Swamy, meanwhile, submitted before the court that he is intending to move an application to implead some other persons, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, as accused in this complaint. Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai, who had been summoned by the court to appear as witness on Swamy's complaint, has filed a certified copy of the entire report concerning this matter through his advocate Sandeep Sethi. The Special CBI judge had on January 22 sought presence of Rai and Director CAG R P Singh in the court today to depose as witnesses on the complaint by Swamy seeking registration of a criminal case against Raja for his alleged role in the scam, which, according to the CAG, caused a presumptive loss of 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer. The court had on January 7 held as "maintainable" the private complaint filed by Swamy on December 15 last year. He had made a three-fold prayer which included that his complaint is taken cognizance of and Raja be summoned to take the case to its logical conclusion. As per the second prayer, Swamy wanted the court to appoint him "as a deemed public prosecutor under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act." Swamy also wanted the court's directions to agencies like the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) to assist him in conducting prosecution and further investigation into the scam. Quoting from the CAG report, Swamy had alleged that Raja committed fraud by adopting the first-come-first-served basis in allocating Spectrum to ineligible companies. -

Ex-telecom secy Behura ready to spill beans on spectrum scam Courtesy ET NEW DELHI: Former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura has offered to disclose to the CBI everything he knows about the spectrum scam . Making the offer in a special CBI court, Behura`s counsel chose not to oppose the agency`s plea for five-day custody of the former telecom secretary for further interrogation. "It is submitted that he (Behura) is innocent, however, prayer for police custody remand is not opposed as he is ready and willing to disclose everything before the investigating agency," Behura`s counsel S S Gandhi told the court. Behura`s offer does not mean a willingness to turn approver, but could spell trouble for A Raja who — according to CBI sources — remains defiant and has dodged crucial questions from investigators. Indeed, Gandhi was already distancing his client from the minister by saying Behura had opposed the controversial decision to change the date for submitting claims for telecom licences. Raja, who along with his former personal secretary R K Chandolia and Behura was remanded to CBI for five days, continued with his defiance. His counsel opposed CBI`s plea for custody of the accused, saying he was innocent. Ramesh Gupta, Raja`s lawyer, told CBI judge O P Saini that the former telecom minister was innocent and that all decisions regarding spectrum allocation were approved by the Cabinet and various statutory panels. Early on, Raja had got a booster of sorts when the DMK leadership in Chennai proclaimed him to be innocent. Behura`s posture in the court, however, could take away from the comfort Raja may have drawn from the demonstration of solidarity in Chennai, and could help CBI get through the resistance the former minister has put up in the four sessions he has had with the agency. Sources familiar with the details of his interrogation said the former minister has been evasive in response to questions from CBI officials, and has answered only those he wished to. Interrogators will like to confront him with the details that Behura may reveal. In contrast to Raja`s alleged intransigence, Behura has been a portrait of reasonableness. His counsel emphasised in court that the former secretary had been cooperating with the CBI. "Whenever they called me, I have come and cooperated with the agency. I have nothing to hide," Gandhi quoted Behura as saying. His counsel claimed that Behura had no role in the conspiracy as all the decisions were already taken by the time he joined as telecom secretary. He had joined the department only five days before the issuance of press release, Gandhi argued, stressing that Behura joined the department just 6 days before January 7, 2008, when the department of telecom brought forward the deadline for sumbmitting claims for licences: a move allegedly designed to benefit companies Raja favoured. Later, Gandhi told TOI Behura had raised objection on the press release in writing, but was overruled by Raja. "He was told that all the decisions were already taken. All this communication was done in writing and is in the files along with the minister`s note," Gandhi said. The documents seized by CBI during the interrogation contain documented proof of the series of communication between Behura and Raja, Gandhi added. Meanwhile, the court allowed Behura, whose wife is to undergo surgery for cancer at Apollo hospital, to see her before and after the operation on Saturday. -
The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
KumaarShah replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Finally RCOM has become No.1 (in losing customers, that is) They truly deserve the honour. 3 (or should it be 8 - one each for the number of years it has been fooling customers) cheers to RCOM for achieving the impossible after 8 long years. -
Even I have L1 right from my DAPO days. I was unable to use the L1 plan and I asked my seller for guidance on the UN and PW, but he was unable to help me out. I gave up and then got Windows Mobile Data Plan 95 activated giving me 200MB free. I am happy with that WMDP95. There is no problem at all and I use it for emails, browsing etc. For any downloads and emails with heavy attachments, I use wifi at my office and home. I use almost 70 to 90 MB of my 200MB limit every month. Wish RCOM gives 50% discount for the unused data. The L1 is still active and I am being charged Rs 25 for that every month. Guess I will have to ask for de-activation or will RCOM graciously () de-activate it since it is no longer of any use to anyone? @Dr. Alibhai, I did not think about you, I could have asked your help for UN and PW.

Internet Setting in LG Optimus One P500
KumaarShah replied to sandeepjaipur's topic in Data services
@sandeepjaipur, Ask CCE for manual settings of netconnect, or if your handset supports, ask them to send automatic netconnect settings. The older gprs or wap settings will be able to open only wap sites and other http sites will not open. So they will advise you to load netconnect settings only, this way you can also tether your mobile to your PC/Laptop. And finally, the charges for GPRS and Netconnect are the same 10ps per 10 kb so don't worry. Just go ahead and enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The above were done by me on a call to CCE for anbling my son's GPRS settings on his LG Glide GT 350i mobile a couple of days back. So the information mentioned above is absolutely fresh and fully attributable to the CCE of RGSM. -

NEW DELHI: In a major shift in policy that may make mobile telecom services costly, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday said henceforth all operators would have to pay market price for initial as well additional spectrum. Delinking spectrum from the licences in the aftermath of the 2G scam, Sibal said, "In future, the spectrum will not be bundled with licence. The licence to be issued to telecom operators will be in the nature of 'Unified Licence' and the licence holder will be free to offer any of the multifarious telecom services. "In the event, the licence holder would like to offer wireless services, it will have to obtain spectrum through a market driven process," he told a press conference. As of now the telecom operators were getting spectrum bundled with the telecom licenses which had paved the way for low tariff regime and intense price war among the service providers. But now, the new operators, if their licences are held valid, would have to pay a market price for the additional 1.8 Mhz of 2G spectrum and this may make their operations financially unviable. For the old operators like Bharti, Vodafone and Idea, who are holding spectrum beyond 6.2 Mhz, they would have to pay market driven price for the extra airwaves. These changes would be implemented with immediate effect, Sibal said. One of the new operators, when contacted, said that the new regime has given a major advantage to the old operators by allowing them to retain 6.2 Mhz of spectrum while the new operators would be at loss as they have to pay market price for the additional 1.8 Mhz spectrum. At a time when the new operators are struggling to get new subscribers, additional cost on them would hit them hard. "We need to seriously consider the adoption of an auction process for allocation and pricing of spectrum beyond 6.2 Mhz while ensuring that there is adequate competition in the auction process," Sibal told reporters here. I Have Ported My Number To....
KumaarShah replied to dkaile's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
You have another 15 days in which RCOM people will try to woo you to remain on their network if your billing is about 700 or more (just a hypothetical figure) Just jot down all your present grievances and cry out aloud when they call you, hopefully you will be able to extract something out of them. Simultaneously send emails to all you know in RCOM. The results will be good. Post here your experiences. And yes, if you do not do anything (like port-in to another operator), dont worry, your existing number will remain on the RCOM network as it is. Even if you do actually port-in, you have another 24 hours to change your mind. BTW: I have also given port-out requests for all my mobile connections across RCDMA, RGSM, Airtel, Vodafone. No serious intention of changing any service provider, just to time-pass when they call. -
Seriously when MNP was implemented in Haryana in November, I had thought about this possibility but was afraid to ask/post it here earlier.... So now this possibility also has come through. People who have dual portability, please go ahead and enjoy the going till it lasts. Hope its free too.....
