MNP Retention Offer You Received
KumaarShah replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
If the existing operator calls you after you port-in to another operator, how will you be able to cancel the port-out? I think it will be within the 24 hours of your port-out request that you will be called by the existing operator. After 24 hours are over, the existing operator can only twiddle their thumbs. Correct me if I am wrong. -
MNP Retention Offer You Received
KumaarShah replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
I too received the offer though I am not having any Airtel Landline connections. AFAIK, this free pizza offer is only for Airtel Landlines and not Mobiles as somebody has already posted elsewhere on this forum on this forum. -

Shopping at Target After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target. Dear Mrs Samuel, Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr Samuel, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras. 1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking. 2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals. 3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom. 4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money. 5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layby. 6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area. 7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he'd invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged. 8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' Emergency Medical Teams were called. 9. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose. 10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were. 11. October 3: Darted around the store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme. 12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels. 13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!' 14. October 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a foetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!' And last, but not least: 15. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.' One of the clerks passed out. cheers!

The Most Awaited MNP Finally Introduced!
KumaarShah replied to SumitVerma's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
I think this time there will be no further postponement as almost all operators are ready. After Idea, Vodafone also is advertising heavily on TV for MNP. RCOM is still sleeping or maybe they will wait for Airtel and only then, respond as they do not consider the other players as competition. I personally think none of the major operators will have much to worry about on the MNP count because for every port-out, there will be as many port-ins as well. Maybe I am wrong, time alone will tell the real story. -
Conversation between Pencil and Eraser Pencil: I'm sorry Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong. Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time. Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad. All my life, I've been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day. For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.

Telcos Join Hands To Offer 3G Services
KumaarShah replied to Karthik R's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
They will wait and watch how others are doing and then they will take the plunge - maybe by then MDA will come and rescue ADA. Or it will merge with MDA. But till then all other players will make merry. Wrong priorities of RGSM. Maybe we are wrong in our assumptions. Maybe they will tie up with BSNL for a pan India network. And since BSNL is giving reasonable (not economical) tariffs in 3G, RGSM also may be able to offer similar tariffs. Maybe RGSM will emerge as the winner in this round. Lets wait and watch as things unfold in the next month or two. -

Reliance HSD / EVDO / Netconnect Broadband+ coverage update
KumaarShah replied to rajeshkatiyar's topic in Data services
@ all, Is Trichy covered under EVDO? According to the link provided by HP, it is. But if you go the coverage map page, it still says, " Town/Village not covered" So whats the actual truth? One page claims and the other page disproves it? These things are possible only with RCOM. -

Sorry for OT, Kamalbhai, First of all Congrats on reaching Mount 6K (posts on RW, and not whatever you thought) Secondly, I used to browse RW whenever I lose my sleep in the middle of the night. Only thing is I was unable to post anything from my mobile for a very long time. Now thats possible, (Thanks to Arun for restoring this facility also - the other one being page rendering in Opera Mini - though at times it still needs refresh a couple of times) for giving me a +1.... -

Tata Docomo Revises 3G Data Offerings
KumaarShah replied to nayasaroj's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
With the highest ever spectrum charges paid, it will be a distant possibility and not in the near future. RCOM has already announced that there will be no tariff war in 3G as only 3-4 operators are offering services in any one circle. So IMHO, it will be maybe a year or two before the 3G tariffs start coming down. Until then, I agree with Kanaga and Daga that BSNL is better than the rest. Atleast it is available all over India. -

Exactly, Samsung i5503 is attractive enough at that price point.

Courtesy: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/telecom/TRAI-recommends-cancellation-of-38-telco-licences/articleshow/7077659.cms 10 Dec, 2010, 05.51PM IST,AGENCIES TRAI recommends cancellation of 38 telco licences NEW DELHI: Telecom regulator, TRAI has recommended the government to cancel 38 telecoms licences, including some held by Telenor, Sistema and Etisalat's Indian ventures, a government statement said on Friday. Junior Telecoms Minister Sachin Pilot told lawmakers in the upper house of parliament that the regulator had recommended cancelling 31 other telecoms licences after legal examination, the statement added. Government officials have earlier said the regulator had recommended cancelling some licences as the companies had not met network rollout obligations. On Thursday, Telecoms Minister Kapil Sibal had said his ministry would send notices to the companies by the end of this week asking them to explain why their licences should not be cancelled. These telecom firms will be given 60 days to respond. Many companies are facing allegations of not disclosing all facts while applying for 2G licences in 2007. Recommendation for this strong action was made to the telecom ministry owing to the companies' non-compliance or irregular roll-out of network, as laid down in the contract. The action came amid the Comptroller and Auditor General slamming the telecom ministry for irregularity and impropriety in giving licences to new players in 2008, causing a loss of a whopping Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer. -
Tomato Story A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test. 'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start. The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'. 'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.' The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket.. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday. Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles. 5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US .. He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life insurance. He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan... When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email. The man replied,'I don't have an email.' The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!' Moral of the story Moral 1 Internet is not the solution to your life.. Moral 2 If you don't have an Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire. Moral 3 If you received this message by email, you are closer to being an office boy/girl, than a millionaire.......... EDIT: Not sure if this was posted earlier. If yes, mods/admins may please delete this post.

MNP - Are you Switching your Mobile Operator?
KumaarShah replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
@sougata, Just how many members here really vote? So far only 40 votes have been cast and even out of this 40, seven have already deleted their votes. 19 are yes and 14 are nos. And even if 500 or 1000 votes are posted here, it will not be a result on which the entire nation also agrees. And BTW, do all of you really think MNP will kick in in the remaining places? AFAIK, I think the Haryanvis have been made guinea pigs for the rest of the country by all the cellcos. They will tout the poor patronage of MNP in Haryana to the GoI and block the introduction of MNP for the remainder of the country. This is a possibility that cannot be ruled out. Unless Kapil uncle is very firm. At the most, it can be a time-pass. Sorry Rajan, about this. Hope you don't mind. Am being blunt but then this is the truth at RW. Participation is very very sketchy always.
