If Airtel or Voda were to introduce even RCOM's Simple plans across India, their existing revenues will be hit very much. Hence they will not experiment now. Maybe in new areas, they can still come out with such plans but on a pan India portfolio, we will have to wait for eternity.....

RGSM has launched a new STV 31by which all existing customers can get the following benefits: - All local calls at Re 0.50 per minute, both onnet and offnet All STD calls at Rs 1.00 per minute, both onnet and offnet 1st 3 SMS (either local or national) will be charged at Re 1 or Rs 1.50, and thereafter 750 free SMS both local and national per day. Using the above, a customer can plan sending out SMSs on some day and on other days, they can just keep quiet and not send any SMS at all. No charges will be deducted for this. This is as per CC, though not too sure. Sounds too good to be true. And this scheme will have a lifetime validity for both call charges and SMS charges!!!! The above apart, today's THE HINDU also states that the Friends and Family offer will be available at Re 0.30 p.m for all offnet calls within TN and at Re 0.05 p.m for all onnet calls within TN. However CC says their systems are not updated. :Contento: Hope RGSM does not change any offers here!!!

Brother, I am talking about CDMA handsets only and not GSM - for GSM any Chinese/Korean/Taiwanese/Far East handset will work. Try to use WAP on CDMA handsets of China/Korea etc.....

@ganesan, Threaten them in a manner that it hurts their pride. Tell them because of their lethargic inaction, you are being forced to switch operators even though you are satisfied with their services and also highlight the recent simple plans of RCOM to drive home the point that you are getting better deals elsewhere. Try your luck... All the best.....

I doubt if WAP will ever work on Chinese/Korean CDMA handsets. Anyway no harm in trying.... Nothing is impossible

@commonman, Why do you not try 225 straight instead of *225? Maybe the balance may not get deducted... Post her your experiences. And yes lodge a strong complaint about this issue with CC etc. This is ridiculous to say the least. To check the balance, we have to pay???? :NOTriste:

Yes its toll free, imagine the problems RCOM will run into if balance-check was chargeable. Another thing, no need for * before 225 or 367 or 368 here in Chennai. Check in your circles. But if you want to call HL on *333, calls to 333 does not go....

@sachinrocks, It is a response, OK But then it is solely a response for existing customers mainly. I do not see a churn in favour of Idea due to this plan. Conversely, RCOM has blasted away the market by their offering. And definitely you will also agree with me that there will be a churn favouring RCOM. I would say its a very gutsy move by RCOM - shades of vintage RCOM now.... Also agreed that Idea's network is far superior to RCOM's, but then these are facts that you and I know - not the common man on the street for whom even the last paisa counts very much. Anyway why should we argue about all this? Lets sit back and enjoy the war... Ultimately, only we are benefitted by this war.

With the imminent launch of DoCoMo, Idea has responded like this. If they were indeed serious of this plan, they should have done a simultaneous launch across the country. Thus it shows that they do not have any guts to do a nationwide launch. Anyway, "More the merrier" dictum will prove beneficial for us customers.

I always thought that termination charges is for number of seconds and not on a per minute basis. I read sometime and somewhere on this forum itself about this....

No good as compared to RCOM's LT tariff validity and also SMS, STD and Roaming Rates. This is not called "responds", it is useless.

The pay per second pulse (PPSP) is useful only for those people who make very short duration calls like the ones to your driver to get the car (max maybe 10 secs). It is not at all useful for BF-GFs, Husband-wife, business calls (which lasts on an average at 1.5 minutes or more). The PPSP is charged at 1ps per sec so your per minute call cost will be 60ps and not 50ps like in SR99/399. After using for a month, you will notice that the net savings is not all that attractive. And with RCOM's new local calling packs, it has become all the more better and attractive.... These are my views, others' opinions may vary....

How to manage different passwords? Is there any free, good PW manager which generates new PWs and also manages them.. It has become a pain in the you-know-where managing so many different PWs and not to mention the necessity to keep changing it every 10, 15, 30 days or so. And then remembering these.... :angry:

Not all that attractive as compared to calling cards of various providers.... There is a catch here which is not there in calling cards....

I feel that RCOM CC has improved a little bit after RGSM launch. Simultaneously, Airtel and Voda CC has gone down a lot nowadays. They are no longer the friendly CC now.
