But then RGSM is giving the tariff validity for life, so then whatever happens, your tariff will remain at 50 ps for local and 1 buck for STD for life. Whereas Voda offers it only for 30 days at Rs 52 cost for all calls at 50 ps, either local or std..... So your statement should be "RCOM giving as basic while Voda is giving after STV" and not as per your post.....

For RGSM - TN/Chennai, STV 31 gives LT tariff of 50 ps local plus Rs 1 STD plus 750 local and national SMS per day (with the 1st 3 messages charged at actuals - either 1 or 1.50) Still there are not too many takers, as Voda is giving all local and STD at 50 ps for 30 days for Rs 52STV, while Idea gives all local and STD at 48 ps for different STVs (maybe STVs 39 and 95 with TT of 20 and 75 also)

Ah!!!! some good news at long last from RCOM... But AFAIK, SK Telecom is a CDMA player, so this means the association is for CDMA or is it for GSM also? I am not aware if SK Telecom is a GSM player also. And if this is for CDMA alone, then it also means that RCOM will offer EVDO/3G, which sometime back (if I am not wrong), they were not very gung-ho on going ahead with 3G in CDMA.

I feel the ratings are biased.. Maybe Voda is good but then RCOM is not all that bad to deserve the last spot.

What about the rectification pricing of Rs 199 for each handset? Is it high or normal?

@saurabh159, It only means that you should not trust RCOM at all. They will write anything and then reverse it and say it was a mistake. Better call CC 3 to 4 times and verify atleast with 3 to 4 CCEs before you take a decision. RCOM is probably the only cellco which does not honour its own written word. This has happened many times and there is no point in arguing ourselves silly with those nincompoops out there. They always enjoy our discomfiture.

Hi Ravi, Can you educate me more on this please? I do not know of any prepaid offering from Voda, Chennai which gives local and STD at 50ps. Ofcourse, I know of Metro packs, South packs, and also Rs 32 STV which gives all local calls at 50 ps and also STV 19 which gives all locals at 60ps pm. But nothing like what Vinayakpai has posted above which Voda, Karnataka gives at 50 ps for local and STD. AFAIK, Karnataka is the circle which now redefines call charges - local and STD. It is Chennai no more.... RGSM also gives 600 minutes on 285 RCV for STD in Karnataka whereas for us Chennai'tes and maybe RoI, it is only 520 minutes for the same Rs 285.

I too would agree that TATA-Indicom is not all that good. As for 'Pay per call' one pays Rs 1 or Rs 3 for Local/STD calls for 10 minutes although he may not speak for even 5 secs on Local/STD. In effect it all evens out, whichever way you look at it. Pay per call is in my opinion an useless scheme. After introducing pay per second with DoCoMo, TATA seems to have gone 10 years back. They could have introduced the same pay per second pulse for Indicom, if they were very sure of the numbers. But then, it appears that both RCOM and TATA have deserted CDMA and bring out goodies for GSM only. :NOTriste: :Equivocado:

I am a Jain and a pure veg from birth and I also strongly believe in vegetarianism. I read somewhere that if all mankind becomes pure grass eaters, then maybe more than half the world's population will have to go hungry without food as so much food cannot be produced for all.

When you pay 50% for a premium number, it is fair that you get 50% coverage only during a day!!!! This is how RGSM works, man.... Sorry but just joking!!!!

After they get spectrum for Delhi, it will take another 6 months to a year to introduce commercial launch. So the year 2009 in your post should probably read Dec. 2010 or Jan. 2011.... I hope I am correct....

I think if push comes to shove, India can fully depend on USA and thats why China has not so far dared to show their skills against India. Like what Sadikk says, let us not fantasize, nothing as such will happen. But that does not mean we must become complacent. We will have to shore up our defence budgets to a great extent, maybe at the cost of development. Or increase taxes drastically to finance military and defence budgets. But even here, our netas have cornered a lot of the budget and stashed it away in Swiss Banks. What our country has got after all these years are weapons which are useless. Even the last Pokhran nuclear tests, it now appears were dud ones. This is really alarming, not to say the least. If indeed it is true, then I fear we cannot face even Pakistan. I pray God that I am wrong in my assumptions....

Cute it definitely is, but how handy is it? I do not know if it is possible to use a square handset comfortably unless you have very large hands. It cannot be used by small handed people and ladies.... But nevertheless a good find..... :GirandoOjos: :winko:

and Arun, Maybe meant for existing Aircel users who do not want to switch operators. There are many people who are on Aircel and want BB services at any cost. And these are the people who are being targeted by Aircel now. :NOTriste:
