Reliance Communications Halves Gsm Rates For Cep
KumaarShah replied to ravi_patent's topic in Miscellaneous
@ @mitj@in, Probably what he actually meant was 2 months from the date of receiving licence for EVDO, not 2 months from today....And see the status of BSNL - they got the permission as early as October and 4 months down the line, no news as such. The fate of 3G in our country needs no further anticipation and discussion at all. The ways things are panning out, it will not come for another 2 years at least. -
For people who want opera with multiple page browsing, saved pages etc, can try Opera Mod. It was posted earlier on this forum. Or google it. I am using OperaMini 4.2 though. The Opera Mod does not work on my 6265 currently Earlier it was working, now it is not. Even Yahoo Go! is not working.

@pkdaga, Your pdf email is only talking about the mobile 995 plan and nothing is discussed about FWPs which is what this topic is all about. Do you have any clarifications for FWPs on this issue. Finally what is the exact status - is RGSM free from RCDMA (Mobiles as also FWPs) or not? And what about people who have onnet packs both mobile and FWPs?

Reliance Communications Halves Gsm Rates For Cep
KumaarShah replied to ravi_patent's topic in Miscellaneous
^^^ As usual RCOM is only hoodwinking people by its complicated tariffs structure and cheap gimmicks. They will never learn to KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) Hope with the Valentine's day near, they will now learn to KISS or they will MISS the boat. STD rates are not covered under the new tariffs as savramesh has already pointed out rightly. One saves only on the STV voucher cost really speaking, nothing much. But then on the other side - you will have top put up with call drops, and network unavailable at many places etc etc. SO it evens out. You get double TT an you get only half the calls through. Enjoy RGSM like never before and never ever again...(because there are many other operators in the line, maybe only atleast 6 months or 12 months away) -
99% Of Mobile Users Are Prepaid
KumaarShah replied to hritik123's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
One man's poison is another man's food. So why fight over it? If you like prepaid, go for it. If you like postpaid, go for it. Everyone has their own calculations, but a vast majority of the 99% or whatever the ET/ToI has reported are from the lower strata of life who do not have money with them always and hence for them, they can exercise better control if they opt for prepaid rather than postpaid. I agree with kalpak that there are merits on postpaid but I also agree with dkaile that prepaid is the most VFM. Not that kalpak is not agreeing with this point. He also has said that upto a billing of Rs 750, prepaid is better. Beyond that it makes immense sense to opt for postpaid. As far is RCOM is concerned, they offer more benefits in postpaid and not in prepaid. Once again this is debatable. So lets just post our views and let the reader decide what to buy. We should not impose our views on anyone. Anyway, folks enjoy the Valentine week-end..... -
@saurav, Check with your CA for more precise info. IMHO, to avoid problems with the taxman, I think you should first sell 20 shares from your existing 100 and then purchase the same 20 shares to enjoy LTCG benefit. I do not know if I am wrong, others with more knowledge on this may please advise here.

^^^ 2GB will be very insufficient considering the games are space hungry. I would advise you to go for 4GB. My son is using one with a 4GB. Original UMDs are no doubt expensive. You can ask the seller to load the games for you. All sellers of PSPs will definitley help you out with the hack as also the games. They may charge something like 100 to 200 bucks dep. on the game. The 4GB card should cost around Rs 1000 to Rs 1500 (I had paid about 1800 with 6 free games almost 8 months back) with some free games pre-loaded if you buy it from the PSP seller. I would advise you to buy it from the PSP seller as there are many incompatible cards in the market. I tried the cheaper way of installing the hack from other sources as also from the net, but it did not work properly and I eventually had to go back to the seller, although it was a bit expensive, (around 1000 bucks then).. To my knowledge PSP 3004 is the latest edition with better graphics and also better features, if the pricing is not very high, go for it than 2004. For more info, I will have to consult my son who has better knowledge than me in this matter. The 2004 has very low speaker volume (for music, maybe) Wifi is great in PSP. But tedious typing out website addresses or anything else. Finally, just one word of caution - don't allow your child to play for very long on PSP. it is highly addictive.

^^^ Your smiley at the end seems to say that you are happy with the problem on both the handsets!!!! Or is it a wrong smiley or should we call it a "weepie" ????

Aircel Launches Gsm Services In Kerala
KumaarShah replied to FEVIN-RAJ's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^^ Invariably by default, the discussion will veer towards RCOM in each and every topic. So let things be and enjoy the fun and also the knowledge gained here. -
^^^ Even I have similar problems both at my office and also my residence. Call drops are frequent, but luckily mostly for onnet calls which are anyway free for me. I too strongly feel that GSM is the root cause for this type of network problems with RCOM. Maybe it will get sorted out soon. Hope for the best.

Area Code Finder - CDMA and GSM Networks
KumaarShah replied to Arun's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^^ I do not have any problems with the above xl sheet. Maybe there is some other problem with your system. @pkdaga, it is working fine alright. maybe you entered all 10 digits. Try with 1st 4 digits. It is updated even with RGSM series. And 90 and 91 series also. Try once again. -

Google Phone Search - Voice Search For Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai New! And Bangalore New!, India
KumaarShah replied to phonegeek's topic in The Lounge
Call goes through properly from here, but lands at Google, Hyderabad. One can get info only for Hyderabad as of now. But nevertheless, a very good service from Google coming after 97733 00000. -
^^^ Trust RGSM to think of the ultra extra-ordinary. And I was thinking that they have offered DTT on all calls incl. STD.
-
^^^ It maybe good if you analyse it this way: - Cost of a local call Rs 1 per minute, which is double that of any other similar cellco. However, one saves on the STV cost and yet gets all local calls at 56 ps as already calculated by vinayak above. It seems to be good. RCOM also earns some money and while the network connectivity is still an issue, they may also earn from repeat calling due to dropped calls etc. As far as STD calls are concerned, the rate is almost the same across all GSM operators. But one gets Rs 89 worth STD calls if he uses RGSM whereas others give only 44.50 worth calls at the same rate. So RGSM is in fact cheaper here. Correct me if I am wrong here. RGSM will attract more subscribers when they introduce more STVs.

^^^ Thanks, Kamal for the invite.... BTW, Chennai to Jhumri Talaiya is only around 1200kms and Rajkot to JT is only around 700 to 800 kms... so its not halfway... But I think we are going way off topic now... lets discuss all these by PMs....

Dot May Allow Calling Cards For Std, Isd; Tariffs Could Fall

Now lets see when the telcos and the cellcos come out with open calling cards.....I presume that they will delay things....But one never knows, in this country anything is possible after all... -
Dot May Allow Calling Cards For Std, Isd; Tariffs Could Fall
KumaarShah replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^ The above is an entirely different matter. What has been referred to above is the routing of LD calls from a mobile via the internet. What is mentioned in post #1 and 2 and also in my post is about using calling cards. In any case in our country, one authority refers to another, then the ministry will play the same game, then it will pass to the PMO, then to the president who will once again send it to the 1st authority and the ball game will re-start from scratch.... ref..3G, MNP, CAC, STD calls thro' internet etc... -
Dot May Allow Calling Cards For Std, Isd; Tariffs Could Fall
KumaarShah replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
^^^ All operators and regulators have ben discussing on this issue since a very long time, neither this facility nor the CAC facility have been implemented. It is like the MNP and 3G which will never the light of the day in the next one or two years at least. -
^^^ Thanks Greatest for the info. I do not visit Rajkot very often, maybe once in a decade only. The last time I visited Rajkot was just before the great shake, I think it was in 2001. My cousins tell me that if I come to Rajkot, then there will be another shake. Ha ha ha.... A fortnight back I was in Ahmedabad for 4 days. My cousin from Rajkot came to meet me and take me to Rajkot, but I could not make it due to paucity of time. Hope to see you in Chennai whenever you come here.
