  1. Lets Ask Arun

Good move, but maybe a tad bit late. Anyway better late than never:)
  2. Samsung Launches Mpower Series Of Cdma Handsets !

    Any idea about price?
  3. I got a call from the CMO this evening, but as I was driving, I requested the lady to call me back in an hour. So far, no repeat call. Maybe tomorrow, I will get the call. She was deeply concerned that the CC quality was not good in my present case and told me that she will escalate the issue to higher ups. A typically standard response, I would say.
  4. Quality Of Customer Care

I have been with RCOM with 7 connections right from Feb.'03. All along I have faced numerous hurdles by way of network availability, handset problems, billing issues, plan changes, tariff problems, and what not. All my problems were sorted out amicably by RCOM's CMO to my entire satisfaction always. Once I got a full refund from LG for my defective 6230 after I had used the handset for a full six months. Many times, I have got discounts of free TT for 6 months for continuing with RCOM. I had earlier been with RPG, Aircel, Skycell, Airtel and even BSNL. But all these with the exception of RPG had real lousy CC. To me RCOM's CC is the best compared to the current cellcos. Maybe Airtel might have improved now, but I will not agree.
  5. @rajesh, Why would you want to unlock the 3500 mobile, for some other network? Or is it for some other country? Or for some other reason?
  6. ^^^ No its now end Jan. Don't ask which year. I have given up all hopes on RCOM.
  7. Telecom's Black Swan

They can try every possible way to subvert rules and do things they want. But if we ask them to open up their networks by allowing foreign handsets, they refuse. Not the similarities here. They can do whatever they want, but if someone tries to do the same to them, it is hara-kiri. Wish they get caught on this one and get punished also.
  8. No reply as yet from CMO, I have re-sent the email today. Expect them to reply shortly. Lets wait and watch.....
  9. If per second billing is introduced, it may lead to higher tariffs than the ones currently on. Do you think RCOM will introduce 1ps per 2secs for Platinum customers or Onnet calls or how about 1 ps for 4 secs for an ONNET call at Re 0.15 pm currently? I feel this move will induce the operators to jack up prices eventually. It may boomerang. But then maybe competition from 11 operators within a circle may help maintain the balances. Lets wait and watch....
  10. Thanks for your views and comments on my earlier posts and the latest one. I am indeed flattered by your comment about appreciating my earlier posts and on my latest post which seems to have stirred a hornet's nest in you. Nowhere have I said that RCOM can reduce the MBs and that we will be all too happy to pay them. I have only said that the plans 99 and 199 are reasonable. If you are not on DAPO, it is not my good luck. And neither you have bad luck if I am on DAPO. And I have stopped using WAP services of RCOM since a long time. I use it very ocassionally only. Based on other operator's comparative charges and speeds, I have commented on the pricing of the plans, which you yourself agree. I have always said in most of my posts that whatever are my experiences on RCOM, I am sharing it here. If people do not want open forums, then this RW forum should shut down or alternately, only those people can come here who can perennially crib about new charges in the very faint hope that RCOM officials will come here, read their posts and drop rates based on that member's recommendations or maybe make it full free. In some other topics on this very forum, many members had waxed eloquent on the need for R&D in handsets so that in future we get better technologies. I have also said the same things in relation to MIPs. If this is wrong, I am sorry I cannot agree with your views. One should not expect free or low cost goodies from RCOM perennially. Just one example, see how much profit Airtel, Voda and BSNL/MTNL make on voice tariffs, why are we mum on the voice tariffs of RCOM? None of the above operators, including the public sector biggies have had the guts so far to offer us 50ps STD calls (though at a monthly rental of Rs 250). They only want to maximise their profits. Prathod, please read mandu1's post just 2 posts above your post once more so that you can understand my views in a better perspective. Atleast I am not isolated also. I am absolutely delighted that someone did appreciate my views. Last night, I got a new Airtel card to check on their EDGE services. And my experience here is that Airtel EDGE is definitely faster than Voda's GPRS, but a tad bit slower than RCOM's WAP services. And in a span of about half an hour, the service was reset atleast 6 to 7 times. So much for competing technologies from the No.1 cellco of India. And the charges were 30ps/20kb. Now tell me is not RCOM a better deal? Try other operators and then comment is what I often say. And I also wish to inform all members here that by not shouting/cribbing here about RCOM's new rates, I am not in total agreement with their policies at all. I have matured now to think that everyone needs money to survive and so also with RCOM. Most importantly, I have emailed to CMO also about the new rates and also their policies about not informing their customers before hand. Lets await their email reply and then see what action to take. Last time around, when kalpak started the campaign, everyone knows the results of it. Not many of our members responded to his appeals to complain to DOT etc. And very recently also, HP wanted to do a similar appeal to DOT because RCOM did not allow foreign handsets. What was the success rate? Both matters failed miserably in terms of RW members responses. But on the flip side, RCOM did definitely suspend the Rs 115 per MB data charges temporarily and has now come full circle by introducing new plans 99 and 199. Now these are not so very unreasonable, I would still say, whatever may be others views. The free usage should definitely go up from 20 MB to 50 mb in Plan 99 and from 100 mb to atleast 150 or 200 mb in Plan 199. This much I had very clearly stated earlier. Perhaps it missed your attention. And I have earlier also told that no amount of screaming, shouting, cajoling will ever make RCOM reduce their rates because as banias, they only believe in masses and not classes. So if a few thousands of us so called high end customers leave RCOM, they are least bothered. They can make up that much more revenues from a few more thousand low end customers who will not even call up CC once in their lives and yet use RCOM's services just because it is affordable to them. Lastly I would like to thank mandu1 for supporting my views.
  11. NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel, India’s leading mobile service provider on Friday announced the launch of three value-for-money prepaid vouchers for its prepaid customers in the Delhi & NCR region. Customers can make STD calls to any network (mobile and landline) across the country at a reduced rate of Re. 1/- per minute for 90 days by recharging with Rs. 99/-, whereas the 30 days recharge for the same offer is at Rs.40/- Customers can make local outgoing calls to an Airtel mobile at 50 paise per minute and local calls to any other mobile network at 60 paise per minute for 90 days by recharging with Rs. 124/-, whereas the 30 days recharge for the same offer is at Rs.49/- Customers can also enjoy STD calls to any mobile @ Re. 1/- per minute; Local Airtel to Airtel @ 50 paise per minute and local Airtel to other mobiles @ 60 paise per minute for 90 days, by recharging with Rs. 201/-, whereas the 30 days recharge for the same offer is at Rs.77/- The value vouchers provides a cost efficient and superior option for Airtel customers in the Delhi & NCR circle for making regular Local as well as STD outgoing calls to family and friends. Mr. Shashi Arora, CEO – Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Mobile Services), Delhi & NCR said, “Airtel has always led the market in ushering affordability and convenience for its customers. These value vouchers present a greater value-for-money and cost saving opportunity than ever before. We are positive that this initiative will greatly benefit Airtel prepaid customers in the Delhi & NCR region in making STD and local calls at significantly lower rates.” Courtesy: http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/N...how/3828729.cms
  12. @ prathod, I am no less angry than you with RCOM's lack of advise to its customers on tariff changes. Whatever I have stated are my own views and whatever you have stated are your own views. No comments on that. I can understand your (our) anger at not being informed about the tariff changes. But tell me, does Airtel, BSNL/MTNL, VodaFone or any other cellco or telco advise all customers before they change tariffs? It is logistically very difficult to inform all customers about changes in tariffs and that too, instantly. I am in no way justifying the stand taken by RCOM. We should be fair to RCOM also. I have used Voda's GPRS and believe me, it ****s really. And further I end up paying around Rs 12 to Rs 15 for just 15 to 25 minutes of browsing RW. I always avoid using Voda's GPRS because of the slow speeds and also because I would end up paying almost 400 bucks a month for just browsing. And all along at much better speeds, I was able to use RCOM's WAP services for full free as I am on DAPO. And if I see Voda's kb used and the charges, there is no correlation at all. They keep deducting the money every now and then and if we complain, they say, their billing is right and we are free to take any action we want. It is in this regard that I fully support your comment that you will prefer to take up an unlimited data connection rather than go in for fights on kb usage. I think RCOM should introduce one more plan apart from the 99 and the 199. Everybody is free to quit RCOM and jump onto another bandwagon. Compare the facilities, charges etc and then tell us. I have been with Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone and also BSNL and yet I have remained with RCOM still. All of us knew that RCOM will jack up the prices of WAP access at some time or the other. Last time around, they jacked it up illogically. This time around, I still maintain that it is compared to othr cellcos, reasonable, but with scope for further reduction. Anyway, let us not argue on this issue. Instead let us all get on with trying to soften or eradicate the impact of the hike in tariffs.
  13. I always email to the following email IDs: - contact.chairman'soffice@relianceada.com corporatecentre.customercare@relianceada.com customercare@relianceada.com serviceassurancecell@relianceada.com Try your luck. All the best. PS: I have not yet called up CC today.
  14. ^^^ Sorry, bro. I didn't know you were on L4 plan. I will check with CC and let you know. Hope I get across to CCE Mr Syed. However, AFAIK, since L4 plan is the costliest, I think everything should still be free for you. But please check once again with CC or CMO.
  15. ^^^ Sitanshu, I have already stated that I will wait for CMO's reply to enable me to post accurately. At this juncture, everything will be hearsay only, so lets wait for CMO's written word. In the past, several times, CC was in variance with the CMO. So I normally take CC view with a pinch of salt. However, for your understanding, please note that when you use OM (which does not use RWorld) AFAIK and understood CCE Mr Syed, it will attract only 5ps/10kb if you are on zero plan (this is because you are still able to access OM) Otherwise for zero plan, no internet access is allowed. Only in Plan 99/199, IA is allowed. If you read my earlier posts of last night, you will note that all this was explained in considerable detail. I also request you to contact your circle's CC and post the experience here. In my experience over the last 6 years, if the CCE appears to be rude or arrogant or haughty or ignorant or plain lazy, just disconnect and call again. Chances are bright that the next CCE will be more helpful. No use in arguing silly with CCE's of the 1st kind. This rule applies to all kinds of CC for anything be it banks, telcos, cellcos, etc, etc. Earlier I used to argue and then I found out that only my blood was boiling, nothing happens to them.
  16. NUC is payable when you access RWorld. When you access any other site using for eg. Opera Mini, only the normal 5p/10kb charges apply. These charges also kick in only after your 20/100MB limit is over. Still not got any reply from CMO. Will post after getting the reply. And yes, I still feel Plan99/199 both are reasonably good. With RCOM, we have got so used to free things, that anything that is charged nowadays meets very stiff resistance. And moreover, CC of RCOM is not helpful and educated enough.
  17. I just spoke to CC and wonder of all wonders, the CCe was simply too good. He told me that for DAPO and L1 customers who wish to remain on same L1 plan, NUC is 0, however these customers cannot access any internet website nor can they download anything. But if any of these L1 customers wants to add a MIP, they can choose 99 or 199 and depending on that plan, they will have to pay 5p/10kb. I presume the website has a typo error which says 5p/10kb + NUC. Actually it is only 5p/10kb. NUC is chargeable when you access RWorld. So if you do not access RWorld, you need not pay NUC. But if you access RWorld, then you will pay 5p/10kb plus NUC. So in effect, they do not want you to access RWorld at all. Stupid moves. But then people who were accessing Rworld earlier still were paying 10ps/10kb. So the status-quo remains for RWorld access. And for the 1st 20/100mb under Plan 99/199, you will not be charged any NUC. Only after you cross 20/100mb, you will be charged NUC. And in the Plan 99, you cannot download anything at all - you can however browse and video- stream. In Plan 199, you can do everything. Further for DAPO and L4 customers, NUC is still free. RWorld access is still free for DAPO and L4 customers. So finally the net effect for DAPO customers who use Opera Mini to browse - you have to take Plan 99 if you wish to continue browsing free. And if you want to download (which earlier you were not able to) you will have to take Plan 199. In this case, your L1 plan will get cancelled and in its place the new data plan will kick in. Can you believe that all the above was patiently explained to me by the CCE Mr. Syed in a 20 minute discussion. Earlier, whenever the CCE helps custoemrs for more than 7 minutes, they have to transfer the call to a floor supervisor. Today this did not happen. I do not know finally, whether to believe the CCE or not as in the past, there have been numerous occasions when RCOM gives a totally topsy turvy view. So friends, please enquire with CC in your respective circles and then decide your next course of action.
  18. Sony Ericsson Xmini

I thought Japan had WCDMA and not CDMA.... Correct me if I am wrong....
  19. ^^^ BB will be useful only at your place/s. Mobile internet has use when you are mobile. So we cannot compare BB with Mobile Internet unless it is 3G Mobile Internet. Lets wait and watch...
  20. @sitanshu, I still cannot understand the latest data charges. If we pay the rentals, then upto the allowed limit, it should be free. How can they charge both rentals and also usage charges? Surely there is some mistake. The NUC will kick in only after the free limit is exhausted. All cellcos must be following this rule. How can RCOM be different? In that case, it is better to take the zero rental plan itself, but then no "mobile internet access" Wait for some clarity and examples before taking any steps. I have already emailed to CMO, lets wait their response. Though I strongly feel the reply will be an auto=generated stupid reply.
  21. ^^^ I agree with your views. Thats why I had said that a higher cap of free usage would have made the new plans attractive. 20mb for Rs 99 (at rs 5 per mb) is ridiculously and definitely costly. Ideally it should have been 50mb. That way it would work out to Rs 2 per Mb. And in Plan 199, maybe they should have offered 150Mb atleast. All operators will jack up data prices shortly. Just wait and watch. The shake-up has begun now. Airtel,Gujarat may have offered 50 mb for Rs 99 in place of 25mb earlier, but here in Chennai, they have already jacked up rates for prepaid from 10ps/10kb to 30ps/20kb. No idea about postpaid. Will post here later about this also. Voda, Chennai is not EDGE enabled, so no comments on the data speeds. Not yet checked about Airtel. But then again, Chennai may be EDGE enabled and if we move across to say Trivandrum or Hyderabad, it may not be EDGE enabled and here the difference in data speeds will show up. Whereas in RCOM, the data speeds are almost the same all over. Thats exactly why, I had said that the Rs 2 per Mb is fairly priced OK, but I also support moves to make RCOM bring it down to atleast Rs 1.50 (if not Re 1) per Mb.
  22. ^^^ What if TATA also starts similar charges???? AFAIK, all operators will start charging more for data usage because when 3G kicks in, you will not be shocked by the high data charges. Already Airtel has started charging 30ps/20kb for Airtel Live, the equivalent of our WAP. Shortly even Voda will follow. But currently Voda still charges 10ps/10kb. All cellcos after all have to earn some money after all. So if voice tariffs are crashing, then somewhere they will have to loot us. In Plan 199, it costs you Rs 2 per MB, which IMHO, is good enough, considering that you get superb network coverage anywhere in India and also you get superb speeds as compared to GPRS at least. The least that RCOM could have done is to have given a little more free usage for Plan 99 and also Plan 199 to have made it more attractive.
  23. Reliance Mobile Internet Data Plan: R World 1. Mobile internet would be a subscription based monthly data service plan. 2. Mobile Internet Data plan is an auto renewal (30 day plan). 3. Subscription of mobile internet data plan is mandatory for accessing internet sites on mobile. 4. Mobile Internet Data plan is applicable to both postpaid and prepaid Reliance subscribers. 5. Charges for mobile internet data plan are as follows (NUC) *Network Usage Charges @ 5p/10kb apply #For L4 & DAPO customers Network Usage Charges waived off but Mobile Internet Plan amount would be charged #Unused KB charges beyond validity period will not be refunded.
  24. Caller Id Spoofing

I strongly think, maybe the person who received your missed calls does not know to read the date and time of such missed calls. Or maybe he has not set the time at all on his GSM handset (though if it is CDMA handset, then the time would be automatically set by the network) Or maybe he has received the calls earlier and thought you had called him up. In this case, I would suggest you to talk to him once again and ask him the exact details explaining your predicament. Also advise him very clearly that you will be forced to register a police complaint in case he has indeed received calls at the stated time and dates, because this issue may involve cloning or spoofing or whatever it may be called. Finally, since you have stated you have got the prepaid number just a month back and assuming your balance is not very heavy, just junk the connection and go in for a new one if you want to avoid all complications. Just forget the issue as a bad dream. But I would advise you to write a very strong email to CMO, CC, TRAI etc stating that you were forced to junk the connection alongwith the balance as you were receiving "junk and threatening"calls. By this way, in future, if there is any problem, you will not be held responsible.
  25. I called cc and though he did not confirm the launch date, he gave me new cc number 1800 100 3333. I called up no that number and was told the launch date is indeed 15 dec all india or atleast major cities. Others may check in their circles from any phone to this toll free number and report here. No news about any tariffs or any other packs. All suspense will be revealed on 15 dec. So the launch date is very near and now we need to start hunting for new gsm handsets:) Enjoy:-):-):-) :-):-)
