  1. ^^^ All I would like to say at this point of time is what I often say on this forum - LETS WAIT AND WATCH........
  2. Phone Book Transfer

^^^ Thanks anuragz, its working fine for me.
  3. ^^^ I personally feel even RCOM will move to GSM eventually, shutting down CDMA totally or maybe sell it off. This is what has happened internationally also, so RCOM and TATA will follow suit here.....
  4. Number Series

Thanks arun and ani. Google search feature works properly. However i will use it more and post here if any problems occur. Maybe you should interchange the positions of the search feature so that new users can benefit more. Or maybe keep only the google search if it is indeed more powerful. This is only a suggestion, you are the better judge.
  5. Number Series

Check this link for more info: http://www.informationmadness.com/cms/inde...&Itemid=124 Your 93685 returned the result, not allotted. @Mods/Admins, It is becoming very difficult to search on RIMweb.in. One has to know the exact word or phrase to find it. Some other funda is required to fine tune the search feature. It is very difficult to dig out the exact topic/post. I was unable to dig out the above matter even after searching on RIMweb.in for almost 12 to 14 pages, then I gave up and posted the link here. Newcomers may find it very difficult to search for some posts/topics. If Sourav and I could not locate the said topic, it only means that it is difficult to search here. This is mainly due to the very huge volume of posts and topics generated here.
  6. ^^^ The auctioning will most likely take place by 31.01.09, but then the deployment of 3G services will not be available till March 2010. There will be many legal cases and one technology fighting the other, one telco fighting another or maybe the private telcos will fight the BSNL/MTNL just for delaying matters. I agree with Ramchi, that we will as end customers, see 3G only by 2010 by which time, the world will have moved onto 5G. No one is interested in introducing it early, whether there are elections in Feb.'09 or later.
  7. Good Diwali gift from BSNL.....
  8. Happy Diwali!

Wishing all at RIMweb.in a Very Happy and Safe Diwali and a Prosperous New Year.
  9. Nokia Battery Info And Problem..

My 6265's battery also has swollen and it looks like it will be a great explosion, more so since Diwali is very near..... I use all types of chargers but all of them are original ones of Nokia only.... In any case, after two years plus, Nokia or for that matter no other company will entertain such "pregnant" batteries. The simple rule is that it can get pregnant within 6 months, after that the owner alone is responsible for the waywardness of his battery. Ha Ha Ha Ha
  10. Song Catcher For Caller Tunes

^^^ Better late than never, what say? Ha Ha ha
  11. ^^^ I somehow agree with you, although the experience I have gained with my varied interactions over the last almost 6 years with RCOM's all levels may eventually prove me wrong. IMHO, The wordings, "we understand the concern and assure you of a rapid improvement in this situation shortly" are pleasingly different this time around. It is not an automated response that has been sent to you. Hope for the best, something good is surely brewing at RCOM.

  14. @hetal, Successful Registration Your Grievance is Successfully Registered. Note your Registration No. DOTEL/E/2008/02185 for future reference.
  15. @ coolboyashok and commonman, Excellent calculations!!!!! See how fast and excellent at calculations our RIMwebians are.... Lesser mortals (read non-rimwebians) can be fooled easily by such clever tactics...No telco can fool our Rimwebians..... SO Moral of the story is, more you browse RW, more you cannot be fooled by any telco.... Not to mention the wealth of knowledge gained not only in telecom, but also other areas.....
  16. Firefox Mobile For Windows Mobile Screenshots

^^^ I do not think anyone can price it, it may be free....
  17. I am have been getting INA 20 for the last 3 to 4 weeks in Chennai in many areas. @srk006, you can get the list of operators and their codes in coai.in site. It was available earlier, but now I cannot see it there. Maybe they are updating their new site now.
  18. ^^^ Exactly what all of us have been knowing and saying for a long time. RCOM etc will not bid/try for EVDO at all. They will instead use that money for 3G GSM. It makes more business sense to adopt an open technology rather than closed technology, where everything is top secret. And RCOM already has managed to get MNP free within their own operations already, so most of their existing customers will be moved to RCOM GSM with their existing numbers. And slowly maybe in 1-2 years, CDMA will be buried like elsewhere in Australia, NZ, Canada etc.... RCOM etc are making the right moves. Why invest double for 3G for both CDMA and GSM. And the GoI is expecting huge money from 3G licences, so it will not come cheap, hence RCOM and others will shy away from EVDO, unless of course Amar Singh blackmails the Congress and gets it absolutely free for RCOM, ha ha ha. Nothing is impossible for AS and ADA these days. Qualcomm is not the loser at all, because even in 3G GSM, they have their technology only, AFAIK. Only for CDMA, they seem to be so royalty conscious. Or are they similar minded even for 3G GSM tech?

^^^ It could be that the mods/admins may have overlooked these posts in which caps were used. It is very difficult job to supervise each and every post and to warn such posters also. Maybe when you posted in caps, the mods were not that busy. Now there are so many posters, it maybe very difficult to moderate. As for your 2nd point about the removal of the tag, mods/admins are better placed to reply. And why are you afraid? You have a very valid point there. Or maybe you could have chosen to be discreet (maybe by PM's.) Also, if possible, please try to break your post into readable paragraphs. It is difficult to read if posted like that. I presume you may be posting from your 6275 and hence the paragraphs are not used. But then, you can use the enter key in your 6275 to break long text into paragraphs. Hope you are not offended. This request applies to all posters here and not specifically yourself.
  21. AFAIK, RCOM will not entertain foreign ESNs as they have not been doing so for such a long time now. There must be some other complications also like security etc for them to not accept foreign ESNs. In any case, high end users ( read foreign ESN users) make for a very miniscule number on their network and hence they may not be interested. Of course, if they open up then maybe the numbers may shoot up. The revenues from a single high end subscriber can be very easily offset by some 15 to 20 low end customers itself, so why should they bother about one high end subscriber. And Reliance (right from DHA, MDA and ADA) believe only in masses and not classes. Thats where the moolah is, they will not enable foreign ESNs in my view. On the flip side, they also lose RWorld revenues as many of us already know. So all the more reason for them to not help our cause. CDMA tech vs GSM tech - always the winner is GSM. Somewhere else on this forum, it was mentioned that RCOM may not go in for EVDO at all, in which case, 3G GSM will always be far better and superior than 2G CDMA. From the way things are churning out, RCOM may definitley not be inclined to take up 3G in both CDMA as well as GSM. Roughly at about 4k Crores per licence, this will cost them 8k crores if they indeed offer 3G for both technologies. These are only my views, maybe I am wrong. In no way, I am against allowing foreign ESNs and I have also voted in favour of Foreign ESNs. Lets try and see if our unity tastes success yet another time.
  22. ^^^ On the contrary, RCOM GSM may not bring out lower tariffs at all. And ashoksoft, I do not think they will offer DAPO like plans in GSM at all. If he does, the ARPUs will suffer drastically and ADA is a cut-throat businessman, not a philanthropist.
  23. ^^^ Exactly. But what does the SC order imply for RCOM? Does it have to pay the VAT? Then all subscribers can definitely ask for refund of 8.6% excess collected. (12.6% ST less 4% VAT) But the AP govt. is demanding 12.5% VAT and not 4% VAT if I remember right.
  24. I gave a termination request on one of my mobiles. I was called by the LTO people and I told them I was planning to go GSM as there was no good handsets in CDMA. The lady told me that GSM services will start in Chennai before Oct. end and maybe by mid Oct. itself. Then I asked her whether I can retain the same number on R-GSM. For this, she told me that the company was working on some issues and that there will be some resolutions as the company does not intend to lose their old customers. Finally, I told her to cancel my TR and that I would continue to suffer RCOM for one more month. Lets wait and watch how things unfold.
  25. @ kalpak, Very good and fast response from Airtel, you are very lucky. But this also proves that one has to persevere, nothing comes automatically. If one does not have the time or the inclination, one can never get things done with any CC - be they Airtel or RCOM or any other tom, **** or harry operator. Now, RCOM CC/CMO has to copy the speeds of customer problem resolutions apart from just the tariff plans. I have experienced the worst CC from Vodafone with respect to GSM services. I was not getting signals in one particular area. I emailed to Vodafone and their reply after more than a month was that they tested the network services at my billing address and found it to be OK. Wonderful CC services, I must say. This is what they actually mean by "Happy2Help". I wrote back a very very nasty email to them, for which I am yet to receive a reply.
