  1. ^^^ The way things are moving, it will be no great surprise if 3G is launched by end 2010 or mid 2011. The DOT and TRAI are already at loggerheads, the finance ministry did not get "consulted" and so on and so forth. After all these are over the COAI will sue the AUSPI getting a favourable deal at Rs 505 crore for CDMA 3G as compared to the Rs 2020 crore for GSM 3G. Maybe I am too optimistic, 3G will get launched by 2015!!!!
  2. RCL/MR/2006/46 May 12, 2007 Reliance Slashes Rates to US & Canada - Rs. 1.99 per minute Reliance Subscribers Can Now make Calls to US & Canada at Domestic Rates Reliance today announced a significant drop in the calling rates to the United States and Canada on its Reliance Global Call Card. Now subscribers will be able to call the US and Canada at just Rs 1.99 per minute upon using the new Reliance Global Call Card of Rs 1900. Making the announcement, Mr S.P Shukla - President, Personal Business- Reliance Communications said "We are very happy to offer this revolutionary rate of just Rs 1.99 which is lower than even the STD rates of most operators. Now, Reliance subscribers will be able to keep in touch with their business associates or friends and relatives in US and Canada without having to worry about the costs and we at Reliance are pleased to enable this change using our strength as a truly integrated telecommunications services operator". Reliance Global Call Cards are a popular, convenient and a cost effective way to make International Calls to any destination in the World. Reliance Global Cards which can be used on a Reliance Mobile and Hello - Pre-paid or Post-paid enable PINless dialing and are available in denominations of Rs 115, Rs 225, Rs 575, Rs 1130 and now Rs 1900 at over 200,000 retail outlets across India. No further details on how much talktime, validity etc available as yet. RCL should also introduce a calling card which will allow all types of calls - local, national and international. And also some other card which can be used on any Reliance handset - that is you can make a call from lets say one Reliance handset and then your next call using the same calling card from another Reliance handset. This is like the BSNL calling card. I do not know what is the term by which such a feature is called.
  3. Price point between 15k to 20k or 22k whatever, definitely means this will become a killer phone.
  4. Good one, Congrats to you and Naveen Gupta for this file. Checked some known numbers, all working fine...Have not checked the latest series of numbers, though. Will check and report problems, if any.
  5. Even at such fancy prices, there will be some good number of buyers. Airtel and Vodafone will make merry and huge money as long as possible.
  6. End Of Cdma Saga For Tata Indicom

@vijay malhotra, AFAIK, Qualcomm is an US company, no use complaining to pgportal or anywhere else in India...
  7. ^^^ I think yes they have had to backtrack because of the high profile complaint attack by all of us here. Further, with respect to upward revision in home-roam pack also, they are actively considering a review. Once again all of us should unite and complain. Then they will see reason to backtrack.
  8. ^^^ Very true, The name of the game is, "Endless Wait" Keep waiting forever.....
  9. ^^^ Bang on target!!!! You are absolutely right. There has to be some quid pro quo obviously.
  10. ^^^ As I have already said earlier, there will be a lot of problems and litigations, so let us not dream for 3G by June 2009. It will come only after Dec.'09 or March '10.
  11. End Of Cdma Saga For Tata Indicom

@hetal, Excellent info and comparison for the benefit of all. Great write up.
  12. Sch F 679

If the SMS is from someone whose number you have saved in your phone book, you will see only the name of that sender. There should be some options on your right or left soft keys which will enable you to see the senders number. Try exploring your mobile's features.
  13. Purchasing A New Phone

^^^ RCOM is not fit for any high budget phones. You never know when they keep removing all frills, change tariffs without informing customers, etc. My advise is RCOM is fit only for Classic or for sub 2 to 3K LG phones.
  14. ^^^ Only Delhi and NCR? I thought Airtel always brought out such "Independence" schemes for the entire country...
  15. End Of Cdma Saga For Tata Indicom

But then, don't despair as yet. BSNL is still there and so will Shyam-Sistema also be. Maybe these two will offer EVDO.
  16. Discuss Here : All About Beijing Olympics !

Congrats to Abhinav Bindra for getting India's 1st Gold in this Olympics. :cheer:
  17. Tight Slap For Srk And Oso

^^^ Did they delete the offending scenes of Manoj Kumar in y-day's telecast?
  18. Any idea about Airtel's DTH website address?
  19. Tight Slap For Srk And Oso

^^^ As usual all news channels will get away because no one will ever try to sue them and get strictures passed against these news channels. They will always say investigative journalism is at work.
  20. Give Comparision Between Rconnect And Gprs Speed

^^^ Somehow, I still doubt about the speeds issue. Though it may be possible for a EDGE network to give a bit better speed than CDMA, but then across the country, almost the same speeds everywhere is what is the issue here. Not in small pockets here and there.
  21. Give Comparision Between Rconnect And Gprs Speed

^^^ Firstly, Setu wants to continue his marriage with RCOM. He is not yet willing for a divorce. Read the 1st post. Secondly, EDGE is not available everywhere and as already said by kalpak elsewhere on this forum, the speeds are not even across circles. One circle may have EDGE, yet the adjacent circle of the same operator may not have EDGE at all. And yes, no one can deny that the data speeds of CDMA are definitely far better than GSM - whether on the mobile or on the computer. And yes the data speeds are the same all over India. Mind you, I am not pro-RCOM, I am just pointing out the facts. Finally, now that 3G is well under way, it would be better to buy a 3G handset. Of course it is too early, that's why I did not suggest it in the 1st place. But maybe the public sector cos will come out sooner. But that again will prove doubtful as the private telcos will have greased the babus well enough to delay it. Already although they have the spectrum and can go ahead full speed, they are talking of a June 2009 time frame. It is very apparent why there will be so much delay.
  22. Give Comparision Between Rconnect And Gprs Speed

My experience in Chennai says nothing to beat CDMA's speeds. It may differ elsewhere. You would be better off with two different handsets rather than one dual mode one. Continue with your Kyo and in GSM go for a low end model since you may only use it sparingly for your project compulsions.
  23. New Handset Rd 3000 & Rd 3100

@kkdeep, Though I am not too sure about this, please try this and then do Call Conference. Dial *311 for activating call waiting on your friends mobile. only when CW is active on your mobile, CC is possible. It is not chargeable. Then try Call Conf. as per Manish's advise above. You will have your call conference. If the above still does not work, then please call CC on *333 or *222 as per your circle's helpline number and ask them the correct procedure. Conf. should be possible on any handset on Reliance. It is not handset specific, but network specific. So enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyy
  24. ^^^ There should not be any problems as only the number will be retained and the operator will change. It works in the same way as when you change from RCOM to Airtel - both are different technologies. Why worry about all these issues - these are the operators' headaches.
  25. Airtel Bihar Stops Showing Location?

Voda and Airtel in Chennai also have disabled Area /Location info and in its place, their ads for cricket, find friends, caller tunes etc are there. Location info is now being used for ads. What better way than to generate free publicity so that whenever you look at your screen, you are reminded about that service. Another thing I noticed is that some towers do not have this ads display, most of them however do. It must be 5% to 95% (location and ads) It appears that all operators have woken up about this and we have to disable area display if we want to avoid this free publicity.
