  1. Just Want To Know Current Price Of Nokia 6275

@shay, You can go in for PPC or Palm Treo from Sadikbhai... These are all future ready handsets and made available at almost the same cost (maybe Treo is same cost and PPCs are costlier) as 6275 with far superior features...
  2. What about TATA INDICOM then? How come they are also selling 3G so brazenly?
  3. Hopes, Hopes, high hopes. Lets wait and watch.....
  4. Quality Of Customer Care

^^^ QUOTE but I noticed a further decline after ADA took over. UNQUOTE I meant with respect to the above. Your experience with RCOM under MDA and under ADA and I meant that all over the industry (or maybe all industries) the quality of CC is declining. Hope it is clear now.
  5. Quality Of Customer Care

^^^ Yes I agree with you on this. But believe me, things were like this ten years back when the mobile services were introduced. All my problems were sorted out through my mobile itself. And they used to call me back if they were unable to solve it instantly. And this would happen maybe within just 4 to 6 hours only. Very rarely, a problem used to be get carried over/solved to the next day. But yes, the websites should be updated on a realtime basis always. And with proper info, not baked / cooked up / stale / useless info like what is available on RCOM's website.
  6. How To Use Nokia 6275 As A Modem For Internet On Pc

AFAIK, None of the above will work. Maybe internet may work. I do not use my 6265 thro' PCSuite and so I do not know. I tried some time back and since it did not work then, I stopped using it. As for the other doubts, PCSuite will not allow you to use your 6275 for SMS, Calls, SW updates etc.... For accessing internet, make your own connection through Windows and give your Username and PW as your ten digit mobile number without the zero. Also for phone number, give #777. Hope it works for you. For me it works like a dream and the speeds are also good.....
  7. The following is the reply I got from RCOM, which is as usual, ambiguous: - QUOTE Dear Mr. Shah, This is with reference to your email regarding the billing information for your Reliance Mobile connections. We wish to inform that WAP Differential KB Charging is applicable for both Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer (DAPO) subscribers and Reliance Mobile World Membership Plan (L1) holders. However, as communicated to you earlier, please email us back once your bill dated August 01, 2008 is generated for your Reliance numbers in order to assist you better. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to you. Thank you for being associated with us. Warm Regards, Dharmendra Singh Negi Customer Care For further information, you can contact us at Web-site : www.reliancecommunications.co.in Email : customercare@relianceada.com Disclaimer:- The information provided is based on prevailing terms and conditions of the company, which are subject to change without prior notice. However as usual, your reply is ambiguous. You have not replied specifically whether the WAP Diff. Access charges is free for DAPO and L1 customers or it is chargeable. Some of my friends elsewhere in the country have received waivers with a note stating the waiver is only for the last month and the next billing cycle onwards, it is chargeable at Rs 1.10 per 10 kb. Many of them have already given their termination letters. Hope I will not be forced to follow the same. PLEASE CLEAR ONCE AND FOR ALL WHETHER THIS WAP DIFF. ACCESS CHARGES ARE APPLICABLE OR NOT FOR DAPO AND L1 CUSTOMERS. MY NOKIA 6265 IS GIVING ME A LOT OF PROBLEMS AND I have to change my handset. But if this kind of daylight robbery is being enforced by RCOM, then I will as well switch to GSM - Vodafone or Airtel and enjoy with far superior handsets. Ofcourse, voice clarity and data speed will be compromised, but then I cannot pay 1000 times more than what the competition (Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, BSNL and ofcourse TATA) charges for the same data access. You can thus finally decide whether I should remain associated with you or go elsewhere. Thanks Kumaar Shah UNQUOTE So from their reply, it is very clear that they are themselves very confused and hence they are giving such replies. Lets wait and watch now...
  8. Quality Of Customer Care

@Raccoon, I would like to differ with your views. If you look around, get some work done by some carpenters, plumbers, electricians, drivers etc, you will notice that the new generation's work is shoddy. This is because they have no experience at all. This is indeed ironical because the new generation has the benefit of latest technology and are quite literate as well but when it comes to doing things, they fall apart. And yet these (CC staff) have jobs in the biggest companies. They do not have any experience and being very young and ambitious, they do not deem it necessary to consult their superiors at all because of their big fat egos. I have noticed this many times when I ask the dumb CC to ask their supervisors and they try as far as possible to avoid seeking guidance. Maybe the supervisors are also equally nincompoops only.... As for the fast responses you got during MDA's time, no doubt it is true. I also had exceptional services from CC of RPG (now Aircel) and SkyCell (now Airtel). They used to call me back and sort out all my problems. I have never experienced such blissful CC services. Even Citibank CC was exceptionally good. All this only points to the fact that the numbers are against the CC of today. I sometimes long for such CC staff who used to sort out all problems over the phone. They used to be so very friendly. Nowadays if at all you crack a joke also, they do not respond at all. Can you imagine this today? Why not? Because those days the number of subscribers was very less and today there are so many subscribers. Moreover, these CC people are highly stressed lot and hence buckle under immense pressure and then they start blabbering even if they have joined duty just a couple of hours back.
  9. All depends on which telco gives how much to whom and when..... But yes we can hope the process will get expedited....
  10. ^^^ Kamal, it is true that this way it will be a great lesson for RCOM. But their attitude nowadays is, "Who Cares if you remain here or not?"
  11. It is indeed very sad that two of our most techie members are leaving RCOM because of RCOM's lop-sided policies. However to be fair to them, it is fully RCOMs fault in bringing out some hare-brained complications. That RCOM has not bothered to reply to both of these techies also points out to a very monopolistic mindset. Probably they are aware that these two techies have solved many problems in CDMA field and thats why they do not want them, leave alone reply to them. Probably they got scared that these techies will be able to crack some more on their networks also. In any case, even if all of us at RIMweb who are affected by the erstwhile WAP charges want to quit RCOM, they will not be bothered. The calculations are very simple - say about 10,000 of us high end users quit RCOM; at an average of Rs 1500 (most maximum average), the loss to RCOM will be Rs 1,50,00,000. This can be very easily recovered by just 1,50,000 new subscribers (vegetables/fruits vendors, barbers, drainage cleaners, auto/ taxi drivers etc) who will use only Rs 100 (most minimum average). So for RCOM it does not matter if 10,000 so called high end customers go away. Its good riddance for them. They will get the same or probably better revenues from the new customers. Last month, they added up 1.75 million new customers. So even if we suffix one more zero to our 10,000 high end users and assume one lakh users will quit, they will lose only Rs. 15 crores in revenues. Whereas with 1.75 million new customers, they will get probably Rs 17.50 crores or much more in revenues and the same will repeat in the next months also. Also they will have lost only 1 lakh old customers but at the same time, they have gained 1.75 million new customers. MORAL of the ABOVE CALCULATIONS: Even if we are very highly disgruntled with RCOM, we should remain here and fight them (and make them suffer a big moral defeat) and not surrender and go away. Already they have accepted a moral defeat though we will still pay higher charges. (off net websites will cost us 20p per 10 kb if I am not wrong or maybe 10p per 10 kb for us DAPO/L1 plan holders) The above are my views on this issue and maybe many of us here will not accept these.
  12. Bsnl Selling 3g Service In India?

Probably pilot tests for BSNL means to sell 3G services to customers... And all along we thought that only private telcos were bending rules to suit their expansion programmes.... Sad that a govt. owned telco also indulges in such business tactics.... After all it is a jungle and the fittest only survives....

  14. Qualcomm, Nokia sign licensing deal, end lawsuits The 15-year agreement gives Nokia a license to all the chip maker's patents. From Times Staff and Wire Reports July 24, 2008 Cellphone chip maker Qualcomm Inc. and Nokia, the world's biggest maker of wireless phones, signed a new licensing agreement that ends global litigation and resolves concerns about Qualcomm's future licensing program. The agreement, released after the close of trading Wednesday, sent Qualcomm shares soaring 18% after hours. The 15-year agreement covers the current and the next generation of high-speed mobile phone standards and gives Nokia a license to all of Qualcomm patents with a promise not to use any of its patents against the San Diego company, the firms said. "This is one where saying this is important is not an overstatement," said Rick Simonson, Nokia's chief financial officer. "It's a big relief for everybody." Nirav S. Parikh, senior vice president at Qualcomm investor TCW Group Inc., said the agreement sets the stage for industrywide issues over patents for third- and fourth-generation technologies. "This also validates Qualcomm's business model far into the future," he said. He expects the company to release details of the settlement today. Among the legal matters resolved between the two was a Nokia complaint pending before the European Commission. Qualcomm still faces lawsuits involving other companies, notably rival chip maker Broadcom Corp. in Irvine, but the Nokia litigation was considered the most disruptive. Financial terms weren't disclosed. Nokia will pay an upfront fee and continuing royalties to Qualcomm. Investors have feared that Qualcomm's inability to reach a new agreement with the Espoo, Finland, handset maker after an earlier contract expired last year could lead to demands for lower fees from other licensees. "The terms of the new license agreement, including the financial and other value provided to Qualcomm, reflect our strong intellectual property position across many current and future generation technologies," Qualcomm Chief Executive Paul Jacobs said. Nokia's chief executive, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, said: "The positive financial impact of this agreement is within Nokia's original expectations and fully reflects our leading intellectual property and market positions." Qualcomm shares rose 72 cents to $44.82, then gained as much as $8.28 in after-hours trading following news of the settlement. A deal was signaled earlier in the day when a trial between the two companies in Delaware Chancery Court in Wilmington was postponed and Qualcomm delayed its release of quarterly earnings. Qualcomm, whose chips power Verizon Wireless and Sprint Nextel Corp. cellphones and networks, among others, gets most of its profit from licensing its patented technology to the carriers and the handset and related original equipment makers. The company stopped recording sales from royalties paid by Nokia after April 9, 2007, saying it would wait until a judgment or a settlement of its dispute. The company estimated last year that Nokia's royalties in 2008 would produce earnings per share of 25 cents to 30 cents. Qualcomm and Nokia have sued each other and filed complaints with regulators in Europe, North America and Asia to gain an edge in their licensing battle. The Delaware trial was expected to resolve some licensing issues. Earlier Wednesday a German court ruled against Qualcomm in a patent-infringement case Nokia had brought. It ruled, as two other international courts had, that Qualcomm's claims related to GSM technology were invalid. GSM, referring to the global system for mobile communications, is the most widely used wireless standard in the world. Although Qualcomm has some patents related to that standard, its business was built on its near-monopoly of CDMA, or code division multiple access, technology. After announcing the agreement, Qualcomm reported a fiscal third-quarter profit that fell 6.3% as the company spent more to develop its MediaFlo mobile-television service. Net income declined to $748 million, or 45 cents a share, from $798 million, or 47 cents, a year earlier. Revenue increased 19% to $2.8 billion for the three-month period that ended June 29. 15. How is the above possible? If one connects his phone toa PC, then it becomes RConnect? Then how can one access RWorld on the computer? Have I missed out on something? Is it possible to connect my 6265 to a PC and download anything I want? Ofcourse I am too late because RCOM has hiked rates, but nevertheless, I would like to know.

Really sad news. May GOD give his family members strength to bear this great loss. All of us will lose a very good singer.
  17. Suggestions On How To Revive A Wet Phone -6275?

^^^ Try your luck with the neighbourhood local service station. They will do the job faster, better and cheaper. All the best.
  18. Quality Of Customer Care

^^^ Probably if MDA still had control of RCOM, maybe it would have been far worse. This is primarily because of the CC churn in the industry. If someone offers a couple of hundreds or so more, they migrate there. This is nothing that MDA or ADA can control. Other operators CC are even worse than RCOM. Try them out and you will know. This does not mean in any way that RCOM CC is better. I only want to draw the attention of all to others' CC. Some CC are very good, some are excellent and most of them are only nincompoops. This situation is present everywhere.
  19. Suggestions On How To Revive A Wet Phone -6275?

^^^ Bad luck, then. Maybe your phone is fully conked out now.
  20. Suggestions On How To Revive A Wet Phone -6275?

First of all, open the handset covers, remove the battery, ruim and then shake the handset dry thoroughly. And then, place it in the hot sun for atleast a day or two. If there is no sun, take a hair dryer and blow dry the phone thoroughly. Ensure that the heat is not set to high, set it to medium or low. When you are satisfied that all the moisture appears to have dried up, re fit the RUIM, battery etc and restart the phone. Hopefully, it will work properly. If not, don't despair. Try the same procedure a couple of more times. It may help you out. If still, it does not work, then go to ASC and don't tell them that you wet it in the rain. Or else the warranty will be voided. Hope for the best.
  21. Wrong Information Given By Customer Care

@aditya, You have given a very accurate description of your complaint. Hope ADA or RCOM reads it and takes some action. It is indeed unfortunate that since your main account expired, your Global calling account also was forcibly expired and that too without basic courtesy of informing you. It is indeed sad to read from ramesh's post above how poor labourers' are exploited of their hard earned money in this manner. It is also sad that almost all telecom companies operate in this manner nowadays and TRAI is only sleeping happily without bringing in regulations to prevent such things. A more reasonable option in such, 'number-pressing-and-activation-on' would be for these telecom companies to call back the subscriber and ask for their specific permission to activate so and so services. This way, wrong press of numbers can also be reversed and goodwill of customers earned. But I doubt it if RCOM will ever take the initiative in this regard. They only want to show the highest ARPUs at any cost. All the best to you, aditya agarwal. Hope you will post here the responses you receive from ADA/RCOM.
  22. DoT ditches the 3G Auction for CDMA Players, new policy to decide their future Posted by pre**** on July 29th, 2008. If all the recent activity, that’s happening with India’s Telecom Market, is any indication, the Department of Telecom (DoT) has surely been busy with their decision making abilities. India’s ever increasing mobile market, which saw a remarkable growth of (upto) 9 million in the month of June, has been lagging behind when it comes to mobile internet technologies. While the world is happily surfing streaming media and mobile TV content, parts of India are yet to see EDGE on their networks while the subscribers in the major metros of the country have to be content with EDGE speeds on their mobile phones. DoT’s recently announced 3G policy comes as a ray of hope, bringing the technology even more closer to reality. However, not everyone is happy in the telecom land. It seems that the major GSM players will get to dance in the sun, while the CDMA operators wait in the dark alleys. Preferential treatment by DoT? Not really. Unfortunately, there is no spectrum available to allocate for the CDMA players. As a result, the DoT has now taken a bold decision and apparently decided to scrap the auction for the 3G spectrum for the CDMA players. Does this mean it is the end of the road for the 71 million CDMA subscribers in the country? Not at all. The DoT is quickly planning to bring out a fresh new policy exclusively for the country’s major CDMA players viz. Reliance, Tata, Shyam Telelink and State-owned BSNL. Though it may not be the end of the road, the subscribers will sure need to wait a while longer compared to the GSM counterparts. The CDMA players will be relying on the EVDO technology for its 3G services which operates best in the 800Mhz or 1900Mhz frequency band, the GSM players will ride the back of the WCDMA technology which works best in the 2.1Ghz frequency band. The 3G auction, which is planned to take place soon, would be the auction for spectrum in the 2.1Ghz band since the DoT’s newly drafted policy made no mention of any bandwidth available in the 800Mhz band. Interestingly, all the four CDMA players have some excess spectrum in the same frequency band, which is currently utilized by them to provide 2G services to the subscribers. While the players are willing to use some of the spectrum for 3G, the DoT has refused them to do so, citing that it will disturb the playing field with the GSM players. Even with the new policy which is being planned for these CDMA players, the DoT will still have a tough time making decisions. Apparently, there are only 2 slots available in the 800Mhz band, while the DoT has 4 key players to accommodate. The new policy is currently pending an approval from the Ministry of Communication. At the same time, the Association of Unified Service Providers of India (AUSPI), a collective CDMA lobby, has written to the Prime Minister of India proposing that a one-time fee be levied on cellular service providers who hold excess spectrum in the country. The same has been proposed by Samajwadi Party leader, Mr. Amar Singh. On the other hand, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has written to the Prime Minister saying that a cap on the spectrum allocation was only applicable for new players who receive initial start-up spectrum. If the AUSPI has it their way, two of the leading operators in the country will have to empty their pockets shelling out upto a few thousand crores, while the government is expected to make nearly Rs. 10,000 crores. The other thing that’s keeping the DoT busy is the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) issue. Neglecting the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)’s recommendation of having only one centralized player, the DoT now plans to rope in two major players for the implementation service. Mobile Number Portability, once implemented, will allow any subscriber to change his service provider, without having to let go of his mobile number. MNP has already been successfully implemented in various countries across the world. DoT has planned the implementation of the service in the country’s metros by the end of the year. 23. Gsm Simcard In Nokia 6275

^^^ Maybe it does not work with certain GSM SIMs..... Try some other SIM of other operators....
  24. Indians: No To Sms, Yes To Call

Exactly and RCOM is taking advantage of lower voice tariffs (not now actually, all are more or less equal) and charging a huge bomb in SMS and data services. Maybe they want to still reduce voice charges or maybe they need the money to fight MDA.....
  25. ^^^ Wait or rather sleep tightly till end 2009. thats when we can expect 3G when the world will be using 5G.....
