  1. Reliance No Longer Sells B&w Phones ?

^^^ According to CC, b&w handsets also are still available but they are expensive than RD3000 and are sold at around Rs 1600 odd. The models are LG 2690, 2650 etc. (not too sure) The b&w models are more sturdier than the colour ones, hence the cost is more. However the features are better in the colour models, IMHO. I doubt the veracity of the info doled out by the CC, maybe somewhere in some remote WW, these b&w models may be available, if unsold still.
  2. First Theft Tracking CDMA Phone Techtree News Staff Email Print Jul 19, 2006 Samsung India has announced the launch of the Samsung Hero, positioned as the country's first Anti-theft Mobile Tracker and Emergency SOS Alert CDMA phone. According to the company, the new handset is targeted at consumers who want the twin benefits of high quality mobility and affordability. A slim and stylish phone, the Samsung Hero prominently features an anti-theft mobile tracker, as also an emergency SOS alert. Commenting on the launch, H C Ryu, managing director, Samsung India, said, "We are pleased to launch the country's first phone with Anti Theft Mobile Tracker feature and Emergency SOS alert system. These features add to the everyday safety of consumers, and minimize the pain of losing one's Mobile Phone . With the launch of Hero, Tata Indicom customers will be the first to enjoy this technology introduced by Samsung in the country." The Anti Theft Mobile Tracker, according to the company, has been introduced for the first time by Samsung and Tata Indicom. In the event the phone is stolen, and the number is replaced, the feature enables the handset to automatically send an SMS to up to two pre-selected numbers, giving the contact number of the new user without his/her knowledge. The other feature, the Emergency SOS Alert, is meant to ensure that help is close- at-hand in the user's hour-of-need. When the user senses trouble, all he/she has to do is press the "C" key four times, and the handset automatically sends-out an SOS SMS to up to 10 numbers pre-selected by the user. The SMS alerts receivers that the user needs help. Upon calling back the user, his/her handset automatically receives calls, thereby facilitating instant communication. The Samsung Hero mobile handset is immediately available through Tata Indicom True Value Shops and True Value Hubs for Rs 1,499, and comes along with seven days validity plus Rs 50 worth of initial talk time. 3. @honest, 500 minutes at Re 0.30 works out to Rs 150 only. So still it is not a zero rental plan. But nevertheless, it is a good plan depending on one's needs....
  4. Seems that our threats and emails have drilled some hard sense into their heads now!!!! Hope the same sense will prevail for introducing unltd wap browsing plans. Hope they will not price it at Rs 10000 per month, after all, ADA now needs money to sue MDA for notional losses suffered because of scuppering of MTN deal. @honest, That was a brilliant and hilarious encounter with CC, your long and vast experience speaks. Good one.....
  5. Mobile Web Popularity On The Rise

^^^ Maybe in his dreams, he will become richer but in reality, he will never.
  6. ^^^ What about exp. memory and is it CDMA or GSM?
  7. Please Help Me Choose My Nokia

My 6265 almost 2 years old now, but has started giving a lot of problems since the last 4 - 5 months. I will vouch for kshah's, vijay malhotra's and greatest's views on Nokia and its ASCs. Add a couple of thousands to your budget and get HTC 6800 or Palm Treo 755p. You will never regret your decision. And now sadikbhai is offering some goodies as well. Contact him and go ahead.
  8. Always go for LG or Nokia or Samsung only. Don't ever touch any Chinese, however great the company may be or howsoever feature-rich or priced-very-less the handset may be.
  9. ^^^ Is it MDA's or ADA's end that you are referring to? It is terribly sad that ADA could not sew up the deal with MTN. As I see things, my bet would be on ADA seeing the beginning of the end from now onwards. He has been making all the wrong moves recently without foreseeing problems that may come up from the family front itself. All his businesses have some problem or the other with MDA. Let him first sort out all problems with MDA once and for all or he will be finished for all.
  10. New Smart Phone From Palm

^^^ Another good phone for sadik to import....
  11. Vodafone Follows Idea

^^^ Welcome to the GSM gangster company!!!! Now it appears that the time has has come to change over to the public sector companies.
  12. ^^^ If the govt. falls, so will ADA as he is now linked to them very closely through Samajwadi Party. again no MTN takeover also..... no GSM launch also.......He he he
  13. Is there any price change for me?

^^^ AFAIK, No changes in access through NetConnect. Only if you use WAP for accessing your emails through gmail or any other mail's web page, the charges are astronimically "introductory" at Re 1.10 per 10kb. So, for you it will still be time based only. Continue enjoying and hope NetConnect gets even more cheaper as @mitj@in has already stated elsewhere on this forum.
  14. Successful Registration Your Grievance is Successfully Registered. Note your Registration No. DOTEL/E/2008/01066 for future reference.
  15. Is there any price change for me?

    ^^^ Right, ENJOY................
  16. Very interesting news snippets......
  17. Which Handset To Buy - New Connection

^^^ Check your Nokia topic for more info. Since you do not want FM, camera etc, you can safely settle for RD 3000, it is a fairly decent handset with good battery backup. Go for it.
  18. Which Nokia To Buy

^^^ LG's latest models have good battery backup. And most important, they are cheap at the prices you have mentioned. For RCOM, I would suggest you do not spend much on handsets. You never know, when they will raise rates by more than 1000%, yes that's right, 1000%..... Once they revise rates, you can safely throw away the handset and forget about it. Classics are still cheaper, but go for LG. Atleast you will have service centers in case you run into any problems. Finally, you can get the LG 3000 for Rs 1300, LG 3100/3500/3600 for around Rs 1800 with the connection. Bargain with the dealers and you will get good deals. 4 days back, one of my office staff bought a LG 3100 for Rs 1800 with a LT connection. Try your luck. Enquire around.
  19. @petar, There is no change as such for Netconnect charges, only charges for WAP usage has been increased exponentially by 1000%. You can continue enjoying Netconnect as long as you want. Maybe as @mitj@in stated elsewhere - RCOM may extend the reduction in tariffs for Netconnect prevailing in Punjab circle to the Rest of India. But no firm news as yet.
  20. ^^^ I think there is no need to give them threats. Enough of this nonsense attitude towards old customers also. I have always had a faint feeling that RCOM will antagonise their old customers in some really stupid manner and hence, I had not gone in for any of the high end handsets. In hindsight, I seem to have vindicated myself. To remain with RCOM, one needs to only have a Rs 500 or max Rs 700 handset, RCOM is not worth more than this at all. Because if you ever try to use their high end services, you will be penalised very, very strongly. One should only use RCOM's voice services - to hell with the BB, PPCs, etc. and to hell with the way the world has advanced in mobile technologies. RCOM is only for pure voice and nothing else - don't use their SMS services also, they are worthless. Like kshah, I also have called Airtel and Voda people over for their plans and based on their presentations, I will go GSM and also definitely junk RCOM totally. As kshah has rightly said, no continuing even on prepaid with RCOM. The resentment is too deep now for any further amends. However even if all we high end Rimwebians terminate our connections, RCOM will be least bothered about it. Because we represent what is maybe 0.0001% (hypothetical only, no serious calculations, here) of their subscriber base. It is only a small pinch to them - a tighter slap would be more effective for them. Let us hope that our small pinch metamorphises into a very tight slap on RCOM's face. Then they will realise the facts. Let us all terminate our connections at the earliest.
  21. @kshah, We cannot terminate because we will lose DAPO plan. Once we terminate or migrate to prepaid also, we will lose DAPO forever. So what to do?
  22. Removing R Menu From Right Soft Key

^^^ Enjoy man, with RIMweb you will always get the latest and the best. Even RCOM cannot help you most of the times. This method of long press '0' was already posted elsewhere on this forum and I just remembered it and posted it for you. Your thanks may be re-directed to that person. Now since you have enabled RWorld already, are you aware of the new kb charges. You may end up paying through your nose for their stupid services. Please check this link: http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?show...view=getnewpost for more info.
  23. ^^^ Signed your petition and added my comments also.
  24. The following is the reply with an word attachment received from RCOM. It is a fact that they have started charging 1000% more now. It is the best time to quit RCOM now. I will surrender all my four connections now, I cannot continue with RCOM anymore. Dear Mr. Shah, This is with reference to your email regarding the services for your Reliance Mobile connections.
