^^^ No, I would dis-agree on the above. Maybe BSNL/MTNL being public sector giants were allowed to introduce EVDO without 3G permission which itself is discriminatory. I do not know why RCOM/TATA are not complaining about this unfair permission.

^^^ I fully agree with the above. In Tata, the pulse for local calls is 3 mins, so even if you speak for 5 secs, you will be charged for a full 3 mins. This is where TATA will be expensive. If they calculate local calls on per minute pulse i.e. 33.33ps per minute, then this plan surely rox. Could someone check with Tata CC on the pulse duration for local calls?

BSNL indeed is 'Best Hain Mere Liye' All other operators are only joking. Maybe Airtel or RCOM BB may be better, but I cannot comment on them.

^^^ DAPO, AFAIK offers Intnl SMS at Rs 2 per SMS. But to how many intl. numbers it goes, is a very big question. And as we all know, RCOM can never be SMS friendly at all.

The above service is available with Voda in Chennai since quite some time, same charges and same method - sending details to postal address. It appears that Airtel has copied Voda and not the other way around....

@himanshu, Sorry for OT, AFAIK, you were the one who was supporting RCOM the most sometime back. It is nice to see that you have also jumped the fence to the other side. RCOM is the worst as far as SMS is concerned, while its biggest plus as yet is their voice clarity. However even GM offers fairly decent voice clarity. The other advantage RCOM has is its data speeds.

In Chennai, Voda offers great STVs for ONNET as well as OFFNET. Service though needs a lot more improvement. CC is hopeless, nowhere near ''Happy2Help"

^^^ It is an average plan, nothing to beat BSNL's Combo C Plan which gives OI voice tariffs worth 175 free and 1.5 GB download plus night dls free plus extra MBs at Re 0.80. All this for Rs 500 totally and if you pay for 10 months in advance, you get 2 months full free. In BB, I feel BSNL is "best hain mere liye", I mean for sab ke liye. And yes, the speed also rox surely.

Looks like ADA will not get MTN so easily, MDA will not allow RCOM to become larger than RIL. There seems to be a long legal tussle ahead. MTN may have to negotiate with others.

Both 3G and MNP will not be available till end 2009 for us. Effectively you will have to continue suffering the poor services provided by your operator for almost 2 years. And when MNP does comes about, you will have to forget ONNET calls as they will be removed by all operators. Further, MNP will prove to be expensive initially. As for 3G, wait wait and wait, maybe the next party in power may decide to junk 3G and go in for 8G or 9G as and when it may become available. Our babus are afraid that they may be caught live accepting bribes/etc when 3G is operational, so they will postpone it for some reason or the other.

Slightly expensive for the features it offers. Is the "Snoop" included in the price? Then maybe it is worth it. But I would not go in for a Motorola any day.

At 40k+ (maybe more for India), this surely is terribly expensive for the features it offers.

Hathway is the worst of the entire lot. No CC also.

RCOM is becoming preposterous (not that they weren't earlier,also) Thy have started ridiculous amounts for terminations, migrations etc etc. Even I cannot believe it. But Amit Jain here on our forum should know better since he is a RCO also.
