NEW DELHI: Amid growing controversy over the pricing and allocation of spectrum, the government has said it will ensure that the licenses are awarded at a reasonable cost so that the operators can create a long-term profitable business model. Telecom Minister A Raja said in Kuala Lumpur: "We also need to ensure that the licenses are awarded at a reasonable cost, so that the operators can create a long-term profitable business model for the whole eco-system." Besides, he added that the government believes in simplifying the spectrum licensing terms and making them success-based. The time has now come for India to move to the next generation in mobile services. World over, 3G mobile/broadband services are taking off exponentially, he added. Talking about the broadband penetration, he said by 2012, India would see about 500 million of its population connected to the Internet, with more than l00 million broadband connections, and 100 million broadband enabled devices to drive this "Connected Indian" milieu leading to the development and growth of a vibrant economy. He further added that the government is in the process of establishing 1,12,000 broadband and Internet enabled Common Services Centres (CSCs) across the country. "The CSCs are being set-up on public private partnership mode. The scheme would entail an investment of about 1.8 billion dollars over four years," he said.

AFAIK, Fiscal year is from Jan to Dec and Financial Year in India is from Apr to Mar Correct me if I am wrong.

It is working fine with me on my 6265 even today. Maybe you need to switch off your handset, remove the battery, remove the RUIM, wait for some 2 to 3 minutes, re-insert RUIM,battery and then re-start your mobile. Then try WAP, it may start working again. If still it does not work, delete Opera and then re-install using your Nokia browser.

One more thing I do not understand, How come Videocon will be able to offer their service within 2 to 3 months from now while our very great RCOM with all their technical brilliance etc will not be able to start services till March 2009? Or is it that they are waiting for the court cases to decide the roll-out of services?Then in that case, the other six new entrants will take away a lot of market share. Cannot understand the dynamics here nowadays.

I think Videocon will offer GSM as they are targetting 50 million customers in 5 years. Even RCOM after 5 years has still not crossed 50 million since they are in CDMA. If RCOM was in GSM then they would have had close to 60 million or more by now. Since the handsets issue is a very major problem with CDMA, I doubt if Videocon would want to replicate RCOM's success or Failure in CDMA. So it has to be GSM. But lets wait and watch till Aug.08, by then many things will unfold.

But D88n does not support JAVA and has a smaller display screen that is not suitable for WAP browsing, Am I right? Reason for Edit: Sorry, I confused myself with C810 and 88n, the latter does support Java.

^^^ AFAIK, there is no JAVA application in D88n, so how can we install java apps here? Secondly, the screen size of D88n is way smaller than 6265/6275. Am I right? Even I will have to change my 6265 to another handset, but I am not moving to D88n because of the above. Reason for Edit: Sorry folks, but I got confused with C810 and D88n, D88n does supports Java.

^^^ The scheme sound to be good my dear friends. But how many free SMS will the customer get with this plan ? Regards. You will get 800 free local SMSs only, no STD SMS and SMS are to local mobiles only and not to local RCOM/TATA FWPs. All other FWPs of othr operators begin with 9 and are 10 digit, so they are counted as mobile SMSs. Even tata/rcom FWPs with 93 series will be counted as mobile SMSs and will be free upto 800.

No the 800 minutes are only for local calls and not STD usage.

Try 6278 this is the master reset PW for LG phones, no idea for mobiles.

^^^ You cannot have the cake and eat it too, raccoon. You cannot get all the goodies in one single plan, you know that very well enough. Similarly you cannot get all fancy features in a single phone. But you will have to wait a lot for your wishes to come true. You are well aware that all the private operators would have greased BSNL honchos very well enough to ensure that they do not even think of cutting their STD rates leave alone local rates for either their LL's or their mobile services. Maybe you can go in for some other plan where you get one India tariffs with unlimited data plan. But you will have to go through the pages of BSNLs sites and find out the correct plan for you.

^^^ well said, raccoon. You are 100% right with your motto. I fully agree with you, but the thing is most of us here are using RCOM for more than 5+ years and do not want to change our numbers. As and when MNP comes in, we shall be free from RCOM. Even here, only mobiles MNP will come in first, landlines MNP will come in later or maybe never.

It usually affects people who do weight-lifting a lot. It is not serious, but if left un-attended, there may be an emergency when the intestinal tubes get choked.
