Biggest Call Conference Chain, I Want To Attempt This Record.
KumaarShah replied to Sadikk's topic in General Technical Discussion
^^^ Simply because many people have reported on this forum that CC does not work properly and his idea will collapse totally even if one person is unable to establish the CC. Onnet calling on prepaid may be very costly for prepaids if they do not use STV 496 ( which is only for RIM2RIM STD calls and not to RCOM FWPs also) @spknair, Just receiving will not do as you have to make calls also to establish and continue the CC chain, right Sadikbhai? Another thing Sadikbhai, do you want only RCOM users or other network users also? CC can be done with other networks also, I suppose? And one another thing, do you want from All India or only within Mumbai/Maha?? The STD call charges may be heavy for some users. Will the CC not affect the RCOM network??? -
HOW TO FORWARD E-MAIL APPROPRIATELY A friend who is a computer expert received the following directly from a system administrator for a corporate system. It is an excellent message that ABSOLUTELY applies to ALL of us who send e-mails. Please read the short letter below, even if you're sure you already follow proper procedures. Do you really know how to forward e-mails? Most of us DO NOT know how. Do you wonder why you get viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it? Every time you forward an e-mail, there is information left over from the people who got the message before you -- namely their e-mail addresses & names. As the messages get forwarded along, the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds, and all it takes is for some poor sap to get a virus, and his or her computer can send that virus to every email address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and he will make five cents for each hit. That's right, all of that inconvenience over a nickel! How do you stop it? Well, there are several easy steps: (1) When you forward an e-mail, DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top). That's right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever you know how to. It only takes a second. You MUST click the 'Forward' button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't hit the forward button first you won't have full editing functions . I particularly dislike having to scroll through 200 Email addresses before I get to the email. (2) Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the "To:" or "Cc:" fields for adding e-mail addresses.. Always use the BCC: (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This is the way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don't see your "BCC:" option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose BCC: and that's it, it's that easy. When you send to BCC: your message will automatically say 'Undisclosed Recipients' in the 'TO:' field of the people who receive it.< /SPAN> That way you aren't sharing all those addresses with every Tom, **** or Harry. (3) Remove any 'FW:' in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you wish or even fix spelling. This one is very important - please read and heed (4) ALWAYS hit your Forward button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By Forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent. These are the ones that often end up having picked up a virus from somebody. This is really important! (5) Have you ever gotten an email that is a petition? It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and to forward it to 10 or 15 people or your entire address book. The email can be forwarded on and on and can collect thousands of names and email addresses. A FACT: The completed petition is actually worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and email addresses contained therein. If you want to support the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the intended recipient. Your position may carry more weight as a personal letter than a laundry list of names and email address on a petition. (Actually, if you think about it, who's supposed to send the petition in to whatever cause it supports? And don't believe the ones that say that the email is being traced, it just ain't so!) (6) One of the main ones I hate is the ones that say that something like, 'Send this email to 10 people and you'll see something great run across your screen.' Or, sometimes they'll just tease you by saying something really cute will happen. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! (Trust me, I'm still seeing some of the same ones that I waited on 10 years ago!) I don't let the bad luck ones scare me either, they get trashed. (Could this be why I haven't won the lottery??) (7) Before you forward an Amber Alert, or a Virus Alert, or some of the other ones floating around nowadays, check them out before you forward them. Most of them are junk mail that's been circling the net for Years! Just about everything you receive in an email that is in question can be checked out at Snopes. Just go to http://www.snopes. com/ It's really easy to find out if it's real or not. If it's not, please don't pass it on. So please, in the future, let's stop the junk mail and the viruses. Finally, here's an idea!!! Let's send this to everyone we know (but strip my address off first, please!). This is something that SHOULD be forwarded.

^^ You are right, it may not be workable in corporate environments. This is mainly meant for fwds of jokes, articles, petitions, etc. Obviously for corporate communications, these rules need not be applied at all.

You are right, copperco2, the link leads to a not found page. The email I received had different states preceding the link I gave above and I presumed that minus the state-name, the link would work. Sorry for the wrong info. Try it with Delhi.bizindia.net.in. The website address works as follows: - http://www.worldbiz.in/bizindia/delhi-ncr.htm or even as follows: - http://www.worldbiz.in/bizindia

Evdo Technology Which Gives Upto 2.4mbps Connection
KumaarShah replied to city02's topic in Reliance Communications
^^^ None of the private operators have started EVDO as yet. Only BSNL is providing EVDO in some places. No idea why only BSNL has been allowed and the private operators are still sleeping or not allowed by GoI? -

I too do the same and I do not have any emails regarding this on my system. I will check my yahoo and gmail accounts and if any are there I will forward to you. But all this will be done only by Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks, folks if the above has been useful to all. Now coming to honesty, I have been following the above rules 1 to 6 since almost 7 to 8 years, though the emails that I receive do not follow the above rules so diligently. I have been following these rules without any help from anyone or any web site at all. I have been educating some of my friends and relatives also about this since a long time. Particularly rule 4, which says to hit the forward button from the actual email that you see finally. Now this is one thing many do not do. We need to maintain secrecy and security also by strictly following this rule. Many people just hit forward from the 1st email itself. Deleting some of the info in the email is not easy also many times. It has to be done line by line, and not just block/mark and delete.

History Mystery Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. Both were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both wives lost their children while living in the White House. Both Presidents were shot on a Friday. Both Presidents were shot in the head Now it gets really weird. Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy. Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln . Both were assassinated by Southerners. Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln , was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln , was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names. Both names are composed of fifteen letters. Now hang on to your seat. Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.' Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford.' Lincoln was shot in a theater and hi s assassin ran and hid in a warehouse. Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. And here's the kicker... A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe. Creepy huh? Send this to as many people as you can, cause: Hey, this is one history lesson most people probably will not mind reading!

Looks good, features good, battery may be good. But then no JAVA support at all makes this un-interesting at Rs 7.5k. I would prefer to go for D-88n which has got all the features minus the battery life. Somehow, I get the feeling all handset mfrs are the same - leaving out one feature or the other in all handsets.

I returned my LG RD 6230 which I used for more than 6 months to RCOM/LG and I got my full money back plus Rs.500/- also. I had paid Rs 7499 but the refund I got was Rs 7999/-. I did not ask them the reasons for the excess. If you present your case properly and forcefully to RCOM / handset mfr., you will get replacement / money back. This is my experience. I do not know about others.

It is almost 2 years since you posted about the PP which you wanted very urgently in 2 weeks and after almost 2 years you still haven't got it?

Updated: 3G Auction completed after 34 days of bidding
KumaarShah replied to Arun's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
All this will only eventually lead to legal hassles and the introduction of 3G will take another 5 years, by which time the world would be enjoying 10G. Useless babus and ultra useless operators. -
Trai Abolishes Adc From 1st April On Domestic Calls
KumaarShah replied to kesav's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
TRAI hangs up on ADC, rings in cheaper calls 28 Mar, 2008, 0600 hrs IST, TNN NEW DELHI: Long-distance telecom (STD) tariffs are set to become cheaper with regulator Trai announcing on Thursday that access deficit charge (ADC) on domestic calls will be eliminated from April. International calls to India will also be cheaper as Trai has halved their ADC to 50 paise per minute from April 1 to September-end, after which it will be phased out. Currently, all telcos pay 0.75% of total revenues towards ADC, which is used to support state-owned BSNL's unviable fixed-line operations in rural India. The levy's phaseout will enable the industry to save about Rs 700 crore annually. Within hours of the Trai announcement, all telcos said they would pass on the savings to subscribers. "We welcome the move. We are committed to passing on the benefit to our customers in an equitable manner and will announce it shortly," said a Vodafone Essar spokesperson. "We are committed to pass on the benefits of ADC relief to customers, primarily in the rural areas as desired by Trai," a Bharti Airtel statement said. CDMA operator Tata Teleservices too said it will do the same. In any case, Trai wants customers to benefit from the move. Speaking to ET, Trai chairman Nripendra Misra warned that the regulator would intervene and reduce tariffs if telcos failed to pass on the benefits to subscribers. "We are waiting to see how much of these benefits that operators get from the ADC phaseout is passed on to the subscriber. If we feel that it is not being passed on in its entirety, we will fix tariffs," Mr Misra said. And in a bid to address the concerns of BSNL, which has warned that it would be forced to discontinue all its rural fixed-line operations if the levy were to go, Trai has recommended that the government give it a subsidy of Rs 2,000 crore per annum for the next three years from the Universal Obligation Fund (USOF). All telcos pay 5% of total revenues towards the USOF, which is dedicated to improve communication facilities in rural India. Currently, the unutilised amount in the USOF is about Rs 16,000 crore. Justifying the move to provide continued support to BSNL, Mr Misra said: "Support to the incumbent may be necessary for their rural wireline operations as about 99.87% rural lines belong to BSNL and this legacy of fixed wireline network is an important national asset. BSNL could make these lines self-sustaining by offering value-added services once broadband proliferation takes place in rural India. Till then, it needs to be ensured that wireline connections are supported and their maintenance is taken care of through an appropriate subsidy." However, BSNL has not taken kindly to the ADC elimination. It's learnt that the company is exploring the possibility of challenging Trai's move in the telecom tribunal. BSNL sources said Trai cannot phase out ADC until the regulator puts in place a system to ensure that its rural operations are backed. "The Rs 2,000-crore subsidy announced by Trai is only a recommendation. It does not guarantee us this amount," BSNL sources added. The EconomicTimes -

Any Solutions To Phone Busy When Connected?
KumaarShah replied to fatal_error's topic in Data services
*305 followed by any local number will divert all your calls when your phone is busy (either on another call or on netconnect) *303 will divert it when you are out of coverage or when you do not reply. *301 will unconditionally divert all calls. *308 will cancel all the diverts and specific diverts are *306 for busy, *304 for not reachable and *302 for unconditional. Call divert charges will be applicable as per your base plan. If you have onnet plan, divert to another onnet number and all diverted calls will be free if you are on local 99 pack. else you will be charged 0.15 paise for other limited onnet packs. If you do not have any onnet pack, then the local call charges to the diverted number will be applied. AFAIK, this is standard across all operators. I mean the charges part and not the CD part. Hope the above is useful to you.
