Ruim Card On Any Normal Phone
KumaarShah replied to anshuman_2k7's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Maybe you can just insert the RUIM card into a GSM phone and access the phone book, SMSs only. Just joking. Never tried it out yet, though I have 2 RIM RUIM enabled phones and also 2 GSM phones. Maybe will try it out leisurely and post here the results. -
Poll - Post Mnp What U Prefer Gsm O Cdma
KumaarShah replied to HetalDP's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
^^^ I agree with ramchi on MNP. Trai will try to bring in MNP and then at the last moment when everything seems set for introduction, DOT babus (of course greased royally by all operators), will find some problem or the other and MNP gets banned once again. Similar is the case with 3G. Its a classic case of pointing fingers. No one really wants to introduce 3G at all. Everyone (operators) seems content with 2G or 2.5G or whatever it may be called. Just for creating mass hysteria, all the players - operators, regulators, govt., subscribers tout about 3G or 3.5G or even 4G maybe 5G also. We boast of the best brains and technology in the world, but what is the outcome? Nothing, really. And no one cares, really. My presumption is that 3G will take another year and a half to reach here, by which time the world would have moved over to 5G. Anyway, I would prefer to hitch onto Hutch's bandwagon if MNP does kick in, more because I would have a greater choice of future ready handsets and moreover, Hutch network is still not so congested as Airtel or Aircel. I am speaking about Chennai only and not the nation. -

@kshah, hero is not asking for PCSync, but how to switch off call connect and dis-connect alerts, like in our LG LSP 350R. It is really irritating to say the least. Maybe PCSync has something to disable call connect/disconnect alerts?

It is not as if one can walk into a Nokia ASC with the defective battery and come out with a new one, just like that. Nokia will see that your battery belongs to the defective lot and then arrange to courier it to you against replacement of old battery. This couriering business will no doubt take about a week or ten days at least. So relax, and let the replacement come about. There is no need to panic at all. Of course a life is far more valuable than a mobile, but why live in tension for that one week or ten days and die of tension about whether your phone will blast off in your ears or hands? What if Nokia had not issued such an advisory in the 1st place? Wouldn't one have been using the handset with the defective battery merrily? Lets us remain cool and not panic. Maybe, most of the people who are flocking Nokia want a replacement more than the fear of the battery exploding in their faces. Thats why they are panicky in behaviour and also creating panic in the minds of others. The advisory states that the defective batteries heat up while recharging, there is no mention that the batteries could explode. "KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS AND IGNORANCE IS BLISS" Anyway, people can interpret the above in their own way and take appropriate decisions.

Dot Rings Mobile Number Portability
KumaarShah replied to coolrajiv's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
me too, count me in for a move to gsm retaining my existing number. Hope DOT is able to push this reform in. But I guess, Airtel, Hutch, RCL Idea etc will grease the babus sufficiently to ensure that MNP is delayed as far as possible. Let us not dream in day time. With the recent increases in tariffs, the big two and the others will make enough money to grease the babus well. Maybe they had an inkling of MNP coming and so to grease the babus, they increased the call charges. TRAI willl not be able to do anything other than just shout out loudly against the big two. Remember MNP? here TRAI was unable to convince DOT about the implementation of MNP; just at the last moment, DOT ruled out MNP. Smells fishy? Thats how it is. -
Stop dreaming, man and don't waste time. Not possible in 6265 or 6275. Maybe possible in 6255, but please check properly.

Not available for Series 40 phones, only available for Symbian or Series 60 phones.

My personal opinion about N72 is not very good, the display is not as bright as our 6265, 6275 or even 6235. It is dull. Maybe the handset I saw was defective or what I dont know. Other users having N72 may comment on the display. Even the cam is not as good as my 6265's. I would strongly suggest you to check the piece thoroughly before buying.

Trai Objects To Hike In Tariffs
KumaarShah replied to coolrajiv's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
All other operators are watching from the sidelines and if the big two can get away with this, then we must all be prepared to face higher tariffs as all operators irrespective of caste, creed or colour will definitely follow the big two. I remember in the topic on roaming rentals, I had mentioned that call rates will go up as a result of the roaming rental waiver and now this has come about; albeit across the board increase for even local, std and sms charges. The big two have already stated that they will not rollback the tariff hikes and will try to explain away to TRAI the reasons for such hikes. TRAI cannot do anything in this matter as tariffs are forbearance (meaning operators can set their own rates without TRAI's prior approval) But then the reason touted by these big two that network expansion post subscriber additions will lead to higher outlays and hence tariff hike is warranted is just too much. I hope VOICE takes these big two to court and some sort of stiff penalty is imposed on them to make them come to their senses. -
I doubt our RCL will introduce this RIM at all.

I am happy with Firefox, although I tried safari some 15 to 20 days back. I did not try again. I feel that Mozilla is best. -
New Plans, Handset From Mtnl

Great way to go, MTNL. Hope it dents the big two operators in a big way. -
Trai Objects To Hike In Tariffs
KumaarShah replied to coolrajiv's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Good that TRAI is atleast looking after consumers interests. And both the top operators have formed a cartel to increase call charges. Hope the other top operators do not join them and increase call rates in tandem. However, it will be diffcult for other operators to remain passive and not do the same. It will require tremendous will power on their part to sideline the top two. Maybe only TATA will not increase call rates, all others will follow suit including our RCL. -
^^^ Thanks, saurabh. Thats a very good and updated site.

Nokia 6275 Worst Experienced Handset Now Gets Support From Bl -5c
KumaarShah replied to jovial_mann's topic in Nokia
^^^ I fully agree with amtrag on the above matter. Nokia should be complimented for admitting publicly in half page back page advertisements that the above BL 5C battery is defective and offering replacements free of cost. Maybe LG, Samsung, Motorola etc may have behaved differently or maybe they would have replaced the entire phone itself, he he he. Or is it maybe that Nokia was sleeping and passing off sub-standard batteries hoping nothing would happen and unfortunately, someone complained leading to the mass recall. I reckon that even if the fault was of Matsu****a, Nokia is equally responsible for allowing it to pass. -
For all solutions to any problems with your RCL connections, email to corporatecentre.customercare@relianceada.com and you will receive a satisfactory reply within 48 to 72 hours.
-
No idea, but you can please try RCLs website for more links.
-
If your 6275 is under warranty, go to Nokia ASC. Be Ready to leave your handset there for at least 15 days. If you are lucky, you may get it done on the spot. May be only a loose connection somewhere.

"do Not Disturb". Does It Not Apply To Non-webworld Firms?
KumaarShah replied to faiqg's topic in Reliance Communications
^^^ Please wait patiently till 5th Sept.07, after that only this DND facility will work properly. Till then bear with RCL. -
^^^ what about BT headsets, do they also emit harmful radiation and cause hearing loss?
-
^^^ The roaming charges will hit in the above plan 449 at 1.40/1.75 and 2.40. And it is not available all over India. Only delhi has this plan.
-
RCL will not bring out any of these types of Plans in the near future, maybe by 2010, they will think about it. I think this is the best time to switch to Airtel now. The best plan of RCL (for heavy users) is NJ 499 which offers all calls at Re 0.75 all over India. But this also is no match for the above Airtel plans.
